  • Join us on an epic adventure as we journey through the heart of Tokyo, comparing two of its most famous neighborhoods: Shibuya and Shinjuku. Hold tight, the next station is Shibuya! We immersed ourselves in the electrifying energy of the city, taking on the iconic Shibuya scramble crossing multiple times just to soak in the Tokyo nightlife. We also made a pit stop at Pepper Parlor, the renowned Robot Cafe near the Shibuya crossing, to witness its futuristic charm. I must say, the robots can make some pretty good ramen!
    Shibuya, known for its youthful vibes, is an entertainment and shopping haven that left us in awe. But just a quick 5-minute subway ride away, we found ourselves in Shinjuku, home to the world's busiest train station. This district offers a more upscale experience with a wide array of shopping and dining options. We took the traditional route and explored Omoide Yokocho, an enchanting old alleyway brimming with charming tiny restaurants and eateries, providing a taste of authentic Japanese culture. Omoide Yokocho is a hidden thing to do in Tokyo! You need to really look to find it.
    Both neighborhoods are undeniably incredible and an absolute must for anyone visiting Tokyo. Shibuya and Shinjuku are a MUST on the list of things to do in Tokyo. Enjoy our guide to visiting Tokyo! 🗼🇯🇵 #Tokyo #Shibuya #Shinjuku #traveljapan #tokyotravel

    Tokyo is divided into many areas such as Shibuya, Shinjuku, Ginza, Roppongi, and Asakusa, each of which has completely different characteristics and is very strange and interesting. Moreover, this is true for every local city in Japan, and each one from the northern end to the southern end has a completely different and special character. Taking Tokyo and Osaka as examples, the two cities had completely different atmospheres and even different personalities of the people who lived there. But the common thread is that wherever you go, it is very clean, social order is maintained, safety is good, people are kind and friendly. And most of all, the food is so delicious! I think it's worth a lifetime to visit every part of Japan.

    You visited the scramble crossing at the right time at sunset and on a weekend. Visit Ginza for Japan''s version of NY 5th avenue. At night if possible.
    Fun fact time:
    For fans of Persona 5 some of the iconic locations like the Ginza line ticket gates and the green train carriage are now gone but you can still buy a drink to boost up your stats at the juice bar in the underground passageway near where you meet Yusuke. Also Buchiko (ie. Hachiko) will be celebrating his 100th anniversary in November.

      It seemed that it was the best time to visit for sure, especially in the summer heat. We got a chance to visit Ginza the day before when we went to the owl cafe, but haven't done it at night yet. Next time we're in Tokyo, it's on our list!
      Thanks for the fun facts as well!

    Shibuya is a bustling district known for its fashion scene and IT industry. It attracts a diverse crowd, particularly those in their 30s and 40s, and is home to numerous clubs and live music venues. Shinjuku, on the other hand, is a bustling business hub that houses the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office. It caters primarily to businessmen and offers a range of amenities, including an nightlife district and cozy bars. Harajuku, once a bustling neighborhood for teenagers, has experienced a significant decline in its youth population due to the distressing problem of voyeurism by foreign tourists, ultimately leading to its current state as a tourist-centric enclave predominantly owned by Chinese and Koreans.(Approximately 80% of Japanese tourists are Chinese or Korean nationals.

    Growing up in NYC and now living in Tokyo for about 7 years I agree in some sense with the comparison. The difference for me is in the safety and cleanliness, plus nobody gonna bother you at all here. Both have an energy and both are intense, just on two different ends. Shibuya has so much more to actually do, and being 5 minutes from another crazy area like Shinjuku or Roppongi

  • @weil9525

    We were just in Tokyo last month for the first time. We stayed at a hotel near Shinjuku, and then we visited Shibuya as well. Both districts are vibrant and bustling but for different reasons.
    1. Shinjuku:
    Positive:
    - more big shopping malls and high-end shops like Gucci, Hermes, etc.
    - tons of bars/drinking (ie. Golden Gai area), lounges and more Japanese BBQ/izakaya style of restaurants.
    - known for host and hostess clubs (Kabukicho).
    - along and north of Tokyō Metropolitan Rte 302 is known for Korean neighbourhoods (tons of Korean restaurants).
    Negative:
    - be careful of "tourist traps"!! Lots of places that try to lore you in for drinking and host/hostess.
    - not the most fun place if you aren't into drinking/alcohol (like us).
    2. Shibuya: (our favorite neighbourhood)
    - we find there are more ramen restaurants and local eats (more variety than just Japanese BBQ/izakaya style).
    - more small-scale shopping malls.
    - close to Harajuku (cool tourist shops and treats) and Omote-Sando (tons of high end shops).
    - north east quadrant of Omote-Sando and Meiji-dori Ave (in those small streets and allies) are full of cool Japanese retails and brands.
    So you want 1) tons of ramen, curry, katsu restaurant selections 2) cool local brands/retails, then spend more time in Shibuya. For most tourists, high-end brands like Gucci, Hermes, Channel are not a huge draw as you can find these in other big cities. But if you want trendy and cool local brands, then Harajuku/Omote-Sando is WAY BETTER retail and shopping experience.

      All fair observations! We don't drink either so it was more the experience for us in Shinjuku while Shibuya was totally mind-blowing! Glad you guys enjoyed your stay in Tokyo 🙌

    • @weil9525
      @weil9525 8 місяців тому

      @@ChangingLocations Agree! Shinjuku is really for those who like high-end shopping and drinking/bars (and host/hostess). Shibuya feels more "local" with many more restaurant options. Not to mention Shibuya has some cool clubs and love hotels in the west part of the city.

    We just came back from Japan and I still think Times Square is worse, especially during Christmas. It was cool but it was way smaller in person then what they make it seem. Still, it was awesome to be there and I miss Japan so freaking much.

    • @ChangingLocations
      @ChangingLocations  8 місяців тому +2

      Idk if it's worse tbh lol we lived in NYC for a long time and Times Square is just kind of disorderly, a bunch of random Disney characters and not really appealing since locals avoid it. Shibuya is where people actually go and we could see why.

    • @TwoTicketsToAdventure
      @TwoTicketsToAdventure 8 місяців тому +1

      @@ChangingLocations I can agree that time square is more disorderly. That was one thing we enjoyed from Japan is how orderly people can still be even when it’s the busiest time of day. Though, I did see a spidermnan in Osaka 😭😅😂 Like I said, it's a cool place and I'm glad we got to see it in person. But I'm glad I don't have to check it out anymore. I'm a huge anime person too and found it to be really expensive for good which makes sense. I did enjoy the lights at night, it was so pretty.

      Nightlife in Tokyo tends to attract different crowds depending on the region. Shibuya is for young people, Shinjuku and Ikebukuro are for adults, Shinbashi is for middle-aged businessmen on their way home from work, Yurakucho is for young businessmen on their way home from work, Roppongi and Akasaka are for the media and entertainment industries, and Ginza is for corporate executives and wealthy people.

    私は、素材が美味しい料理が好きなので。
     鶏肉よりも、赤身の中に細い線の脂が幾つか見える銘柄和牛を切り身にした[霜降り肉]の和牛ステーキが、日本の美味しい食べ物だと思う。和牛か不明だが他のUA-camrの動画で見ました、もしかしたら、和牛ステーキでも、肉と脂身を技術で固形にした和牛ステーキも多分存在してるかも知れない。
