1 quick tip for reinforcing your interior wood that's on the facade and takes damage from storms:
you can use beeswax to upgrade the wood structures (just like upgrading glass to reinforced glass) to make them equally durable to stone tier building pieces. i'm not sure in what workbench you do that, but there's a tech tree point for that.

I haven't tried that yet, but I wasn't sure there was an interior wood version of it. If it is just the regular log style, it's very useful but not sure if it would look as good.
I think it can be done in the carpentry benches.
Might need a tech unlock point for it.

Mortar and pestle and are cheap extra storage that place on most benches. Might look a little cluttered but very handy.

New Base looks super nice and you kinda made my day.
If i were to nitpick i would suggest putting a little more separation in between the workshop and the living area, like maybe some halfwalls and pillars so u keep the open feel your base has but still have more visible separation between working/hazardious area and relax/living area like kitchen/sleeping area.
Also, while the solar panels on the highest point might be more efficient, i would suggest swapping the placements of them and the contact device for more easier upgradability of your solar array, if u don't plan to add them to the power plant later on (if that's the plan just ignore that suggestion).
for the garden another idea would be to combine the greenhouse next to the barn idea and the open garden idea into just expanding the barns foundation placing an open garden on it.
the part with that one floor tile was killing me. xD
maybe add a trapdoor to get to the crawl space without removing the floors everytime, it seemed like you were able to crouch down there just fine, so it might work and reduce your workload when adding new to the base.
Glad you like it! Yeah I still need to figure out how I want to decorate / separate the interior but I do like the open / connected type design. I am going to build a power station so I will have all the electricity stuff over there.

Crops get a greenhouse bonus when in proximity to glass building piece, don't necessarily need to be in a greenhouse. *I'm sure you're aware of many of these things, for those who aren't*.

Loving this series so far, I think I subbed on like the second or third video, but on the first one, I knew you were the style of creator I was looking for. The barn looks really good, that's a really creative roof design that my little min/max monkey brain would not have thought of. Speaking of which, I wonder if it's worth it, when you're trying to freeform place things to line up with other things, to bind some of the block movement keys on like an xbox controller's triggers, so you'd have that rather than the binary nature of keyboard keys lol.

Now you have the miasmic pickaxe, next is the miasmic axe. It gives infected wood when you cut down a tree. This gives you epoxy when run through the cleaner.
I actually do have the miasmic axe, I love how much epoxy you get from that thing.

miasmic pickaxe is the reason i dont play on olympus and styx anymore... its so OP and cuts down farming so much! i wish they added scorpions to prometheus so i can craft the scorpion armor... that armor set is so good too but only unlocked from sytx missions
base looks amazing, the roofing i never thought about it that way
Yeah if I ever go back to styx or olympus I will definitely miss that. They should just add a workshop item that lets you skin miasma items & obsidian/clay to the workshop resources.
Another absolutely stellar video adventure. I love the Infinity Gaming video series but I've never quite conjured up the patience for all the steps to make those creations. I guess I'll have to give them a try. Great job!

For the pillars for the barn. You could have used a Concrete Frame in pillar configuration. The Stone/Concrete Frames have additional configuration options. Hold 'R' while a Concrete Frame selected. The Barn really looks good. The base looks good. The Reinforced Glass Doors are stronger than the reinforced wood ones. Also an Art Deco Chandelier would look good and really bright.
Thank you! I might test out the glass doors, I do like how the reinforced wood looks with the concrete. Not a huge fan of the steel reinforced doors' appearance, and they're weaker for some reason haha.

Love the vid and the build! I support both garden ideas, a rooftop garden is always nice but even an add-on to the barn or a stand alone garden in between the two with a concrete foundation and half glass walls would be nice! Can't wait to see the decorations in your living quarters, there's some nice furniture and decor in Icarus that would suit this build!

Base building that's very reminiscent of Valheim style building (except this looks a little easier to do positioning and interesting structures, like 2 walls joining together to make a window). Wish you'd chosen a different editing style though. Personally, I like the sound of the pieces being put in. Very jarring hearing "Okay, we're just gonna get to work" and then suddenly a massive jump cut to a finished product.
The grid/snapping definitely feels easier than valheim, and you can place things very far away which I think I remember being an issue in valheim, having to build scaffolding all the time.
For this video in particular, my external harddrive was almost maxed out with recording footage so I had to make some cuts / not record certain long parts of the building process. With this experience now I'll try to have a bit more of the actual building footage and know when to not record to save space.
It would be nice to have end caps for the posts. Some basic, some 'fancy'.

Personally, I don't play Icarus, as don't like that much survival games. Played a bit of Forrest (nice game, but too many horror elements for me) and that is all. I really enjoy your gameplay and videos.

Another little cheese u can do is start the crystal extaction mission for x2 thermos x2 fuel cans and x2 ice borers for free abandon mission and keep the items
Oh nice idea! Those thermoses definitely used to be a huge pain, but now that the contents last so long I feel like having 2 is more than enough.
If you put half pieces to overlap the ends of your roof it will offer weather protection to the walls
I thought about that, but unfortunately I don't think I can make half roof tiles, only floor/ramp tiles so it would look odd unless I did the whole roof out of ramps.
There are some crafting bench recipies (such as cupboards) that are not on the higher tier benches yet
Hopefully they fix that asap!

I think they could, it would need to be full sized ramps to keep the same roofing pattern though and those looked too large to me. Half pieces can only be the ramp/floor style I believe.

For those, I use a 1/2 solid wall and a 1/2 glass wall on top, then the roofing is two half pitches. I also add two half pitch walls at the front.

Not sure if you have any stone building pieces leftover, i try and re purpose for transitional outpost mini bases by tunnel caves leading to other biomes. D5-D6,G8-G9,L2-K3, and the I4-J3 you already visited prior.
I have a lot of stone pieces left over, and a ton of clay I'm planning on using for ramps into different biomes. Never going back to wood!
Would it be worth putting some roof half pieces on the end of the barns - should prevent damage to the interior wood walls.

Cozy buff could be about 7 building tiles away from bed in each direction. Do you have much experience with dehumidifier or air conditioning in game? Those now apply for being able to sleep nearby.
Well rested buff is 30% max health,30% health regen, 15% max stam,15% stam regen, and 15% reduction of each food and water consumption.
I'm planning on making use of the comfort system soon! The next part I'm recording now, I'll be getting a bunch of decorations in the house.
Do the free standing resource nodes respawn over time or once they're gone they're gone? I'm assuming the deep veins never deplete?
you can respawn ores by using the Prototype Thumper in Tier 4 but it will spawn caveworms and landsharks depending on how many ores are being respawned
Like inifinity said, you can respawn nodes within the circle radius of a tier 4 thumper. Deep vein ores are infinite and never deplete.
The deep ore had been glitched recently, but they came out and said after hearing the community it was best if they were set to unlimited.
Would poison pills (kitchen bench) prevent toxic crust poisoning?
I tested this out in an earlier episode and unfortunately it has no effect

Hey! You need to place a half concrete lower, then a half glass upper on that, then you can stack the full normal glass wall on top of the two halves

Did you put barn doors in ? Don’t want those annoying wild animals to get in when you’re away and eat your pets.
I think it is safe with the moat and raised floor from animals. Not sure I want to add doors to the barn, but maybe!
