    Great design, I'm a fan. As a new woodworker, how would the dowels be different. Would it be stronger or cleaner?

    • @WoodshopDiaries
      @WoodshopDiaries  3 роки тому

      Dowels are a joinery method that you can hide...it’s not necessarily going to make a huge difference in strength either way, but dowels so take longer as you have to wait for glue to dry between each step. The advantage to dowels is you don’t see them. But in this case, if you’re able to hide most of the pocket holes, it doesn’t really matter.

    You may need to have an MRI or an Ultrasound for your shoulder. You could have a Rotator Cuff tear. Hopefully not, but, if you do, it will not get better on its own and over time it will get worse. And no amount of PT will help if that's what's wrong. Unfortunately, surgery followed by PT is the only option. Sometimes Cortazone injections will help if it's just inflammation caused by arthritis or overuse, etc, but unless you get a checkup, you won't know until it's too late and you lose the use of your arm. I've had both of mine done.

      Maybe. Hopefully not. 😬 I’m resting it while my wisdom teeth heal and hoping that’s all it needs. 👍

    @Shara I'm trying to build something very similar to this except instead of a drawer I'm trying to create a shelf table. Do you think a 2 x 2 is needed for the long frame or the short side frame + legs (the type you have at 4:21) can support the weight of 3 birch plywood sheets by themselves?

    • @WoodshopDiaries
      @WoodshopDiaries  3 роки тому

      Hi! Yes, I’d still recommend installing these 2x2s. They’ll help prevent sagging but in this particular design, that’s where the plywood shelves attach. Without them, you’d have to find a new way to install the shelves.

      Thank you! I appreciate that! I was using a song handcam for a while on my older stuff (don’t go bad and look...it was terrible haha) and finally decided to upgrade. I know VERY little about cameras and videography, but I’m really happy with the nicer picture with this camera.

    Can you make any projects not out of plywood? Where I live in Florida plywood starts @ $42 for the junk stuff, I have ability to make things but between cost of plywood & not having a truck, none of these projects work for me. 2x4 that aren’t even straight they are charging almost $7 for a eight footer. Our local big box stoves also charge for cuts. I can get dimensional lumber in my car and those are less twisted

    • @WoodshopDiaries
      @WoodshopDiaries  3 роки тому

      The good plywood is pricey, but is still cheaper than the equivalent amount of hardwood lumber. And most stores will cut down your plywood sheets for you into more manageable pieces you can fit in your vehicle-likely still cheaper than the equivalent amount of hardwood lumber. But, you can make the same projects out of solid wood by gluing up solid wood panels instead of using plywood. 👍 straight 2x4s exist...you just have to dig through the piles a while to find them.

      @@WoodshopDiaries 2.50 per cut

      Just a thought...you can spend $5 and have them rip it into three strips you can take home and cut down to size. Or you can just glue up your own solid panels from 1x boards.
      Or...you can bring a circular saw with you to the store and cut down your own sheet into rough sizes you can fit into your vehicle. I’ve cut down lumber in the parking lot before.
      Where there’s a will, there’s a way.

      Pricing is something you’d have to determine yourself based on your cost and how much time you take and your rate you want to make/hour. It’s up to the builder how much they’d want to charge.
