You misunderstood my comment. I am angry at the Oscar Awards for rejecting Antonios soundtrack. The Oscars Academy reason was that Birdman's soundtrack had too many classical & other tracks done by other musicians for it to be called an original background score.
Yes, you can and this film has done it brilliantly. Which is why I don't understand why the Oscars disqualified it. They did not refuse to nominate it, they disqualified it. It is bizarre.
+Arctic Fox this makes me wonder why Trent Reznor won in 2011: one of the tracks he included on The Social Network was recycled from NIN's Ghosts I-IV album.
A groove like no other. Totally original and, clearly, above the Academy's intelligence. Like Antonio said, "The music speaks for itself." No truer words spoken. Antonio's work will withstand the test of time, far beyond any Academy member's lifetime. Peace!
Sorry but this is not like any other. Shakerleg is the real original, unlike any drummer on earth... barehanded street drummer who recorded 2 CDs of drumming live in the nyc subways years before this. In fact, the reverb and effect used in the clip above sound like a direct rip from that legendary street performer.
Check Shakerleg’s 2 CDs of live drumming in the NYC subways yrs before this. Shakerleg is the actual original and should’ve been used for this film. HIS grooves are absolutely perfect to write to. Enjoy
Unfortunate he stole this whole idea from legendary street performer Shakerleg who drums circles around this with such a solid groove you would lose your mind. Oh and he plays barehanded. Antonio could only dream of being as creative.
Then you will find an even better tempo if you listen to Shakerleg who has 2 CDs of pure drumming magic record live in the nyc subways yrs before this came out.
Great for drummers I guess. I'm finally watching the movie and the drums are so annoying that I went online and searched Birdman drum score. I'm not alone. Plenty of others were annoyed. I was hoping it would stop after a few minutes, but halfway through the flick and still being distracted and annoyed. On the other hand, Gnarls Barkley's slow version of "Crazy" blew me away. Listened to it 3 times in a row. Other then the drumming, a pretty decent movie.
Cool to find out I'm not the only person on earth who's absolutely OBSESSED with this score
I am
Vincent Knight ikr
You will absolutely love Shakerleg then. He has 2 CDs that destroy this. All recorded in the nyc subways years before this came out.
For you kind info: god of rhythm Ustad Zakkir husain said its the best drums score he ever heard
Still obsessed!
Screw the Oscars for disqualifying this soundtrack. Out of the 4 times I've seen Birdman, one trip was made just for this score.
disqualifying ? WHAT DO YOU MEAN? U CAN MAKE SOUNDTRACK ON DRUMZ?
You misunderstood my comment. I am angry at the Oscar Awards for rejecting Antonios soundtrack. The Oscars Academy reason was that Birdman's soundtrack had too many classical & other tracks done by other musicians for it to be called an original background score.
LaRay82 i meant 'u cant do soundtrack on drums'? i still dont get it

The drum sound track was brilliant and really worked well in the move. Great chops Antonio SancheZ.

@@smackatoo I think It's more like Amen Break or Amen Brother by The Winstons. The most sampled loop in music history.

Rushing.
+Themonkeymartin SO YOU DO KNOW THE DIFFERENCE!!
@@Mrpielovesme1 By the way, it ws you dragging. the problem was he didn't know the difference, which is worse.
Un beat de batterie qui m'a personnellement impressionné et séduit durant tout ce film. Bravo pour l'idée, et le délire.
Thank you *SO MUCH* for some super-dope drum samples. Love that tight, jazzy acoustic kit feel, man.
I LOVE this!!!!!!!
So damn groovy, I love it.
This is utterly perfect.
The you must check Shakerleg for one step above this. 👍🏼
Great Academy award winning movie and great soundtrack.
this track is INSANE. must have in any percussion collection
This needs a 10hour version so bad!
Why don't you just loop it?
Because it's difficult work to click the replay button.
@@TISCHNELISG8 right click, select loop *the more you know*
I am creating a 10 hour Loop
Check Shakerleg’s 2 CDs of drumming live in the NYC subways, yrs before this came out and the drum sounds are far more unique.

New favourite song!
A drummer's soundtrack...makes sense...
Antonio Sanchez is one of the greatest living drummer he play with Pat Metheny Group.
Unfortunate he stole this whole idea from legendary street performer Shakerleg who drums circles around this with such a solid groove you would lose your mind. Oh and he plays barehanded. Antonio could only dream of being as creative.

Oh Drummy Drummy...
Midway though the movie I started getting headache from this song. It's ok, but it was overused and in the end obnoxious.
...I- It was only played once in the entire movie.
Maybe he had the drums on his head. ;)
