I too like to wear my pocket watch & chain in my breast pocket, through the button hole. You could attach the chain to a cigar cutter as Chris does or a pen or UK legal pocket knife. Otherwise the buttonhole is a good place for a poppy worn for remembrance. When I have worn a flower or boutonniere I have also sewn some thread behind the lapel to hold it in place
Great teachable moment! Appreciate the knowledge and insight. When wearing a flower/boutonnière, on the backside of the lapel, a Taylor can sew in a fabric loop. This is meant to hold a flower in place without damaging the lapel with a stick pin. Also holds a small vase the flower sits in, if it comes with one, prolonging the life of the flower/boutonnière.
If I wear a real flower I usually wrap the stem in tin foil so it sits properly in the lapel with the loop at the back. You can do the loop yourself relatively easily with just a needle and thread
A beautiful, hand sewn buttonhole is all the ornamentation I need. A super fine Milanese, or a flat, wide Neapolitan, or even the big, fat, old school, raised ones Oxxford did; they're all beautiful in their own way.
You had responded previously that Mr. Modo does not want questions from viewers and refuses to divulge his contact info !!?? Very bad customer service !!!

Is it ok to use the buttonhole for a poppy, as in Rememberance day?
Absolutely
