I'm a beginner, but I feel like my foundation is being set very well with your videos. I can't tell you how much I appreciate you. My grandma had Bob Ross and I have you.
Hello David! Finally, I finished painting my first rose. it did not came out not even close to your beautiful rose. But I have the courage to start it and did it. I am sure that the next one rose i paint will be a little closer to yours. I really appreciate your teaching, time and patience with us. A big thank you!
I just can't get enough of your roses! I'm practicing every day as a beginner. I have a hard time figuring out a lot of the angles of each rose petal but I believe this will come some day. I think I have it & then it gets confusing! Ordered your rose petal book so this will help me. I'm so appreciative of the tips you give, your empathy, encouragement & great sense of humor. One day I'm going to get this!!
You can do it Shelia! Takes practice and patience as you learn to see them but you can do it! Make sure you watch the Correcting Roses playlist. You will see more about petals in that playlist.
Thanks to your lessons, I was able to paint a 30inx40in canvas of roses on a vase for my house. Never thought I could do it. You made it look so easy , but it’s really not. Mine is nowhere close to yours but I’m still super happy with it. Thank you very much.
It is easy for me because I paint so much. Like anything, the more you do the better it is. I think it is difficult to copy my rose, that is why I like everyone to learn what I do and then apply to "your" rose. We are all better when we paint something that is "ours". Hope you understand. 😃
Thank you, Mr. Jansen for another wonderful lesson in painting roses. They are not easy but certainly challenging and I have gone into a spinning mode. Staying in control though and keep on watching your videos and referring to your book. I am very fortunate to have you as a teacher who explains himself so well. Hope you will read this comment as the video was made awhile ago.
I watched so many of your videos simply because they were enjoyable. But when I tripped across the "correction" series, I said "Wait a second, maybe I can do this".... Delighted already with my early bloomers.... Only disappointment is MOMA hasn't called yet- oh well, any day now.. THANKS DAVID!!!!!!
This video is invaluable! Even though I don't have your incredible paint (yet!) I learn so much about color, the rose structure and on and on. Your are you are an awesome instructor! You speak in a way that even a total novice can understand. Thank you!😁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁
My pleasure Sylvia! We will get that glass painted this week. Do you have a large resolution photo of those you showed me? Make is easier to print large and show everyone.
Thank you so much for your videos! I am used to painting so precisely, it is really a struggle to loosen up, but I'm on my way! Your paintings are beautiful. I love the imagination that comes in when you paint with lost edges, etc. Thanks again!
Thank for sharing your extraordinary gift ! Such beautiful paintings . You explain the techniques so clearly - I am so happy to have found your channel .
I love this thank you just what I wanted I'm tryin to paint a blue one comin out pretty good for the second one I've done thank you so much for your kind teachin and gentle way love this
Another great "help" video. Your phrasing and visual is super beneficial to all us rose painters. And, all these techniques and insights are greatly benefiting my work in other genre as well! THANK YOU! (Always a student. Always learning. Always growing.)
This was so helpful. I finally understand that my outside petals are too small! I think my roses can be corrected and I’m excited to try it. You’ve mentioned your mom before. Do you have any of her paintings we could see? ❤️🌺
So helpful! Since the last corection videoI became conscious about really bad habits in my way of seeing and of course painting.David, my eyes were catched by the dog and wolf paintings, they are just fabulous!
Thank you so much. One of the Retrievers is on the channel. I just finished the wolf for my S201 Online Color Theory Class. We use only 4 colors to paint him!
Hi thank for so much for the how correct your rose demo it was a great lesson this demo help me a lot hope I will do better with my painting the rose .God bless you.Olga.M
Loved it and understand the theory well but the practical is not so easy I have trouble using the finger either the paint is on too thick or too dry and yes I use half tones but I know it is a lot of practice but keep up the good work Dave think I am getting it xxx
Don't forget if it is dry to mist it with a little water before you go over. It will soften very quickly. Yes, takes practice, but what beautiful art doesn't? 😃
Thank you David, Now I have a checklist to ask myself •Is it too light? •Is it too dark? •Is it too warm? •Is it too cool? •Is it too big for its position? And then it’s up to me to practice and persevere
Thank you so much for your lessons! But can you make a video with a little more simple rose ? Less petals ? I cannot paint those beautiful roses you make not too much space ☹️ for me
It is actually Red Violet not Purple. I use if for a couple of reasons. First it is a tone found in most roses and the coolest color tone found in roses. Second and most important is it is very popular and sells really well when I use it. Broad appeal with my clients. I paint to sell. I sold over 200 floral paintings last year, majority using that tone.
I love your correcting video’s! But I have a problem and that is petal painting I really would very much like to see how to paint different types of petals? Chisel, three stroke, etc? I am not very confident on petals and I’m pretty sure there are many more people like me in this matter!
Well I should have looked before typing my question! Embarrassing! Thanks again for being our awesome teacher and putting up with silly people like me!
They get sun bleached as they get older wow I didn’t know that.. 💭 I forget which part is meant to be dark vs which should be lighter while I’m painting... so That’s a great way for me to keep track of inner vs outer petals 🌹
David you are the greatest rose painter and teacher. Thank You for your very thoughtful explanations.
You are very welcome Abbie.
I'm a beginner, but I feel like my foundation is being set very well with your videos. I can't tell you how much I appreciate you. My grandma had Bob Ross and I have you.
You are so welcome Kay! I knew Bob Ross..LOL. He was a nice man. Thank you! 😊

Hi Ana, That is great. They do take practice. That is a great artistic attitude you have. YOU CAN DO IT! I am here to help. 😃

Hi, is it possible to use oil paint to paint this kind of flowers? Or acrylic works better?
I am using acrylic techniques. You can use oil, but you will have to change some of the techniques.
David vc é demais! fantástico!
Thank you so much Teresa.
Do u have a place we can download your value scale u use? Thank you

Como gostaria de entender o você fala creio que acrescentaria muito pra mim ! Admiro muito o seu trabalho lindooo maravilhosos
Thank you! 😃
Why do you have to add purple to everything you paint?
It is actually Red Violet not Purple. I use if for a couple of reasons. First it is a tone found in most roses and the coolest color tone found in roses. Second and most important is it is very popular and sells really well when I use it. Broad appeal with my clients. I paint to sell. Painting dogs is fun, so are roses, landscapes, rosemaling and just about anything. Yes, love dogs! 😃
