You are an amazing teacher David. So clearly shown..I haven’t painted For a year or so due to problems, but this little video has given me a great deal of encouragement, and the feeling to paint is returning. Thank you so much for being so gentle and soulful. I love your work.
I am a pen & ink and pencil artist wanting to try acrylics. I've been slowly gathering supplies while trying, and until now, failing to find good tutorials for the style I want to learn. You teach the way I learn and I love your floral work, so reminiscent of the old masters, beautiful. I will share though, and hope you get a chuckle, watching you paint a rose and I'll be thinking, "Yes, I see it, the shape is building, oh no! He just ruined it! Oh, ok, he has it back, phew. Oh no, he did it again!! Or, no, no he has it back...oh shut up woman and just watch!"
Dear David! I am a wannabe artist! I adore florals so much but, I struggle pathetically to achieve what I wish to do! I appreciated your tutorial very much and hope to gain some knowledge!
I have watched several of your videos and countless from other artists, but could never understand how to separate the petals and show depth. Until this one! I finally GET IT. The blurred lost edge creates the depth, and without that misty edge it's just a pile of paint. So, you don't ever want to cover up that mist, or you lose the depth of the rose. Thank you so much, for explaining it in a way that I can see now what I've been doing wrong for years! You're an awesome teacher!
I have been trying for so long to learn how to paint flowers like this. You're video explains it so well and I understood what you were talking about! Thank you!!
Wonderful tutorial ever for me to overcome the difficulties of painting roses. I certainly shall try to paint and see how it comes out! Thank you for the lesson!
Thank you for such an outstanding lesson in lost and found edges. You make it so easy to understand and follow! I appreciate your sharing your expertise with us!
@@JansenArtEducation It helps tremendously when an experienced artist shows how it's done. I love the fact that you use your fingers (the main reason I love doing pastel so much..getting into contact with the materials) and if it produces the desired effects, then why not :) I am watching your other lessons and they are all great. Looking forward to a lot more!
Your channel is AMAZING! I was never drawing before in my life, but using your tutorial I stared with roses, of course it's very amateur but it works for me! Thanks a loooot
Brush and my fingers ... I love this technique! Thanks for sharing your knowledge :) I promise to try ... I love roses and want to sit down and paint soon ...
Great video! Love it totally! Short and straight to the point. Here is a technique I will remember and will practice again and again until I can easily incorporate it in my painting. Many thanks for sharing your expertise. It is SO appreciated!
This video really helped me. While painting, i've always been scared of losing shapes and egdes because i used it for my orientation and this video showed me that i don't need to. So thank you. Thank you very much

That is exactly correct. We think we much always define all the edges very well to make it more real, but that is not the case. Thanks!
Thank you David...I took one of your rose classes....still working on it! Your roses always amaze me! They remind me of my David Austin roses!❤
Awesome teacher. Thank you.
