Superb interview! You do a great job with all these, I've watched. The "less is more", kinda thing Vince spoke of, you also apply to your interviewing style & it works, well. Vince has always come across as genuinely humble. He, Marty Stuart & Wade Hayes are 3 guys off the top of my head, who I truly admire, because, even though they're artists in their own right, they could set in with any band in any honkytonk & fit in as a sideman & still dig it. Seeing Vince play one of his first live concerts was so awesome and his music to this day is pure from the heart❤️🤘🏻☮️❤️ Thank you Joe so much for all these videos and getting to see your friendship with the musicians is wonderful and really brings the REAL LIFE to it all. ❤️
Joe, I just found your channel and can't tell you how impressed I am. You are the consummate professional as an interviewer. You are informed, polite and enthusiastic. Your joy with what you do is apparent. The vibe you set is so relaxing, that it seems like we're sitting in the room with you. I can't wait to enjoy more of your interviews. Thank you. Alan

gill i'gill I'm just happy that your Dad has chosen.to share his talent, humor and humility with the rest of us. I realize that to you , he is your Dad, but to us, he is the consummate musical professional. Did you follow him into the music business?
@@alanriley9621 Yes I am so proud of my dad and I really appreciate my dads music, how long have you been listening to my dads music and what makes you like his songs ?
@@corrinagrantgill3236 Wow, thank you for asking !! I'm embarrassed to say, I'm late to the musical party. 3 separate videos put me squarely in his camp. He had recently joined the Eagles, and I was amazed at how good he sounded and how easily he fit into this superstar group. ( with his bandmates massive egos, I give him all the credit in the world ) Soon after that I was playing my EC Crossroads festival from 2013. His playing with Albert Lee on "I Ain't living Long Like This " was the highlight of that whole CD. Soon after that I watched the interview with Joe Chambers and as I mentioned, I was so impressed with his honesty, candor and sense of humor, that I was blown away. In that video he mentioned an anecdote from his performance during the 2004 Crossroads festival. He mentioned that he was worried how he would be receiving by the R&R crowd. Well, I watched his performance and once again I was blown away by his performance, his band his enthusiasm. I must have played his song 3 times in a row!! So, if you have some personal favorites to recommend , I'll track them down and give them a listen. How can I go wrong! Once again, thanks for your reply. Alan Riley - a somewhat new convert.
Great Interview Joe ,always the Best and down to earth, I had the opportunity to work for Vince and Amy on two occasions at the venue I worked at for 20 years. I would have had my 3rd opportunity at the new Venue I'm now working Until Covid came along. Just great folks all around ,Humble and Thankful and a pleasure to work with..
Hi Nelly... now just letting you know this interview was up loaded in three parts over the last couple of weeks to make it easy for you guys to pick and choose what is most interesting to you if you don’t have a lot of time to watch a hour plus interview. If you watched all three then you’ve seen this whole interview already. Best... Joe
I'm watching this for the 2nd or 3rd time in maybe 2 years. But it's such a great interview. You just helped Vince to relax and be himself and he is such decent person. He orobably treats everyone he meets like they matter and they probably do matter to Vince. Thanks Joe.
Hi Bill.... yes.... simplicity sells and is often the hardest thing to achieve. It’s easy to get your thoughts across in a book but try doing the same in a three minute song. Very difficult......Thanks for watching...Joe
I Can not believe how similar vince gill and Glen Campbell life journey is...It is awesome that they both started life same and were after the same goal and both achieved same their goals...They had the same love for music and both became great guitarists both used guitar and their great gift of singing to reach the top of the music world..they practically had the same dna!!!!
Thank you each for your kindness 💗 and being so thoughtful. Music is my life. I'm a renowned song writer and I have written for Ray Price and Conway Twitty. So I really appreciate your comments. You guys make my sun shine 🌞. I love my musiations. God bless all
When I first heard you Vince, singing When I Call Your Name back in the early 90's I was an instant fan. I've listened to and continue to listen to your timeless music since those days. Our first dance at our wedding was to Look At Us. Every time I've seen you in interviews or in concert you have seemed so laid back and awesome, like someone I grew up with. You are the real deal Vince and our world is a better place because of you and your music!
Great interview, I love Vince Gill he is a true musician's musician.. Joe was probably the best interviewer I've had the pleasure of watching, rest in peace mister!
What a nice interview. I❤️Vince and the Eagles. So happy he has joined them! Saw them in concert Newark,N.J. And it was AWESOME👏👏👏Don Henley couldn’t have made a better choice,in my opinion .
I love Vince’s voice and guitar work I especially love the fact that he’s not afraid to experiment with different kinds of music. God bless you Vince! You have enriched my life immensely! ❤
Great interview! I've loved Vince Gill's voice since the first time I heard him sing "Whenever I Call Your Name." I've never had the opportunity to see him in concert but, I will never forget when on TV award show I saw him give his award to a Make a Wish young girl! Also, mentioned during this interview reminded me of years ago; true story; my brother (God rest his soul) taught himself to play the guitar using a record & the first full song he learned was "House of the Rising Sun". 😁👍❤
Thank you for this interview,Vince Gill is and always will be my favorite I've seen him like 15 times in concert and I'd see him 15 more if I could. If I could have a wish I would choose to meet him someday thanks again.
what a great interview. i have always loved his music starting with pure prairie league, but i had no idea of his history or the extent of his contributions. i 1st learned of your efforts with james pankow interview and then danny sereaphine. after this interview you've got me hooked. i called up all of your uptakes which should keep me busy for a while. my middle name is ernest after ernest tubb, so i love the whole spectrum of music. i love knowing as much as i can about the artists as i can find and your interviews are the best i have found for that info. thanks again and one day i would love to come to nashville, tour the museum, and meet you. till then.
Vince Gill, don’t sell yourself short. I have been and eagles fan and Glenn Frey fan forever. The eagles have never sounded better than since you and Deacon Frey joined this group. Have seen you all a few times and have booked 2021 in October. Thanks for your amazing talent.
@@vincegill8327 I totally agree with Kelly. I have been a fan of yours from the very start, and the Eagles. Glenn’s passing was a complete shock! So when the Eagles were to perform in Newark,N.J.,I felt I hit the JACKPOT. I get to see you sing with my favorite band! I believe you are an asset, and maybe those negative remarks are from fans who can’t get over the loss. Not because they think your not good enough. @@MusiciansHallofFameMuseum Gosh, Britt, my heart grieves for you and your family upon reading that. Sorry I was so late to the party, but I feel privileged to have come across this. I'm a Memphis raised guy (moved away decades ago), so I was all about Al Green, Rufus Thomas, Booker T and the MG's, Isaac Hayes and all that great Memphis sound (and I grew up within a 1/2 mile of Graceland, so there was that factor, too. However, when I met my eventual wife, a Texan, she was a "Nashville Sound" girl, and she helped transform me into someone who aspired to be a Grand Ol' Opry connoisseur (and, yes, I had to look up the spelling of that word). Moved to Houston in '89 and where she and I found ourselves (and later all our children) at the Livestock Show and Rodeo for two weeks every February, where I saw her musical heroes, who eventually became mine -- including Vince! Take care and God bless!
Bob, so kind of you. I like Texas too, & lived there while finishing collage. You and your wife should make it to the museum together- I think it would be really fun for y’all. Again, thanks for supporting the channel- and let us know when you make it to Nashville.
I got one of my songs on a local station that was played during a shortlived homegrown show by a certain DJ. My friend drove up in my drive all crazy honkin the horn, so i came outside to see whats goin on and my buddy shouts; "your song is playing on my radio, right now!" He turnt it up and sure was my original tune... Felt cool. 🎉
@thejigantics2641, your continued kind words and support for the channel would mean so much to dad, & still goes to me… he really appreciated his friends like you here on the channel & it was his joy to comment back. Hope you can visit the museum sometime! Best, Britt
You can listen to one of Joe’s interviews ,and not use the terms -adjectives - informed, and humble. This interview with Vince is beyond insightful. I know I use the word humility in every reply I ever write when referring to his interviews, and guests. Vince Gill saying he felt he was in over his head in respect to some people he’s played with. As he said you want to be the at the bottom of the players in any given situation because you learn something from others . That’s what makes him one of the best cross genre players. Nobody is that humble in this day,and age. Music has dummied down, and the “performers” suffer from hubris to a degree I can’t fathom. All these Nashville Cats have paid their dues, and if you think you’re gods gift to musicianship, go to Nashville , you’ll get a wake up call to reality at warp speed. These guys are the real deal with no artifice ... Kudos -once again - to Joe Chambers for being the best there is . Musician to musician tete a tete , the fly on the wall interviews like no other ...
I have three county artists that I like and sometimes listen to, Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood, and Vince Gill!! I’d heard of Garth back in the nineties but wasn’t someone who listened to his music. I started listening to country music about three years ago; prior to that I only heard the occasional song here and there on the radio. Never met the man, listen to his stuff, one of the most humblest people I believe! Another great interview!
Thanks Rusty….. Joe
Thank you. Alan
Alan.... that’s so nice of you to say... thank you so much... truly made my night. What you said was exactly what I hoped would come across for the viewer... to feel like you are sitting there with us. Thanks again... Best... Joe
Hello sir I really appreciate your love and support over my dads music career 💕💖❤❤
gill i'gill I'm just happy that your Dad has chosen.to share his talent, humor and humility with the rest of us.

Go Vote Pure Prairie League into the Rock&Roll Hall of Fame ! I did ! 🗳
Great Interview Joe ,always the Best and down to earth, I had the opportunity to work for Vince and Amy on two occasions at the venue I worked at for 20 years. Love Vince Gill many thanks Joe
Hi Nelly... now just letting you know this interview was up loaded in three parts over the last couple of weeks to make it easy for you guys to pick and choose what is most interesting to you if you don’t have a lot of time to watch a hour plus interview. If you watched all three then you’ve seen this whole interview already. Best... Joe
@@MusiciansHallofFameMuseum have all 3 now many thanks Joe
I'm watching this for the 2nd or 3rd time in maybe 2 years. But it's such a great interview. You just helped Vince to relax and be himself and he is such decent person. He orobably treats everyone he meets like they matter and they probably do matter to Vince. Thanks Joe.
Thanks Bill….Joe
ask his ex wife janice about him being a decent guy
As always just great interviews! If you're ever in Nashville visit the Musicians Hall of Fame. A great place!

When a house wife or a mechanic can hum, whistle, or sing along with your song on the radio .. .... You've got a HIT !
Hi Bill.... yes.... simplicity sells and is often the hardest thing to achieve.

That’s very cool Janet… Conway was a good friend and recorded three of my songs too. Thanks again for watching….Joe
Really enjoy Vince music & Been a fan for years
Another outstanding interview! These are priceless. Joe, thanks for your great work documenting the musicians who created the soundtrack of our lives.

Great interview, I love Vince Gill he is a true musician's musician.. Joe was probably the best interviewer I've had the pleasure of watching, rest in peace mister!
Fantastic interview..Vince is absolutely the best .no ego and TALLENT beyond belief..😁👍👍
Love vince gill
An Icon Vine Gill! Thank you for all your talent you Share! ❤️
Enjoyed Vince's interview loved it.
Thank you for this interview,Vince Gill is and always will be my favorite I've seen him like 15 times in concert and I'd see him 15 more if I could. If I could have a wish I would choose to meet him someday thanks again.

@@MusiciansHallofFameMuseum Your so welcome I really enjoy your interviews.
These are worth my full hour of attention. Experience from the real deal! Knowledge based facts revealed. Thanks ,Cheers.
Thanks zoro......Joe
what a great interview. i have always loved his music starting with pure prairie league, but i had no idea of his history or the extent of his contributions. i 1st learned of your efforts with james pankow interview and then danny sereaphine. after this interview you've got me hooked. i called up all of your uptakes which should keep me busy for a while. my middle name is ernest after ernest tubb, so i love the whole spectrum of music. i love knowing as much as i can about the artists as i can find and your interviews are the best i have found for that info. thanks again and one day i would love to come to nashville, tour the museum, and meet you. till then.

Vince has his head on right. Great human being!
One of favorite concerts was a front row seat for Vince at Merlefest. One of the best guitarists, singers, and songwtiters in the world.
I’m a big fan of Vince Gill. Thanks for this interview Joe. It was fascinating.
Thanks dustin.... Joe
Vince Gill, don’t sell yourself short. I have been and eagles fan and Glenn Frey fan forever. The eagles have never sounded better than since you and Deacon Frey joined this group. Have seen you all a few times and have booked 2021 in October. Thanks for your amazing talent.
@@vincegill8327 oh Vince how lucky you were to do the Brian Wilson thing he is one of three people I would love to meet just to say thank you
@@vincegill8327 I totally agree with Kelly. I met you on my 25th Anniversary at a Fan Fair and that was 30 yrs ago. Your still my favorite ❤️God Bless
That was an awesome interview.
I enjoyed that very much. 👍

Hi Elden….. thanks for watching… Vince is easy to talk to and as you saw is a really great person. Thanks again… Joe
Love Vince Gill. From PPL To Today. #1 Musician, Singer & Human.
When I am having a bad day, all I need to do is go and watch one of Joe's interviews. He was a master at it, his genuine nature, he asked a few questions and let the person just get lost in there own story. Thanks Joe, You did it again, I miss you, Thank goodness we have this channel to still learn from you.
Joel, thank you for such sweet words, it always means a lot to me to read comments like yours. I know, my dad, Joe, would truly appreciate all that you said & especially for your continued support for the channel.

Fun & interesting to hear all the steps that made Vince who he is as a musician. Packing up moving from OK to Louisville,,,,then from L'Ville to CA not knowing what lays ahead for him, says it all. Vince is one of those few guys,,,think you could kick him in both shins,,and He wouldn't get mad at you. Thanks for a great interview Joe.

I've been just learning more about Vince Gill and this interview was real treasure trove. I gotta be honest, Joe. I love Vince, and all your interviews, but I'd really like to see an interview of you sometime. You're very interesting yourself, and I imagine you'd have countless hours of things to say. Songwriting stories and being part of Nashville. I'd even volunteer to interview you. Much respect to you, Sir.
Thanks Derek… I appreciate it very much. Actually there are a few interviews with me on UA-cam. The latest is on Gibson TV The Scene Nashville.. The Musicians Hall Of Fame. It just went up k on n youtube a couple days ago. There’s another on NAMN tv youtube and The Sessions on UA-cam. When Covid closed the museum we did about five Q&A shows that I answered a lot of questions sent in by our viewers. Thanks again for watching..Joe. P.S watch CBS Sunday Morning show tomorrow. There’s a interview with Sonny Curtis filmed in the museum.
@@MusiciansHallofFameMuseum Thank you, Joe! That really was a great interview (Gibson TV MHOF episode) however now I absolutely must come and visit the museum. Nashville, Stax, Sun, Motown....Les Paul, Chet, Steve Cropper, James Burton. These guys just fascinate me with their history. Marty & Vince still make me want to practice, practice, practice to be as flawless of a player as they are.
Awesome interview. Back in 84 I got to interview Amy for the American Christian Countdown. I was so nervous and she was so wonderful. I had a crush for years 🥴

Wow. Fantastic interview. Such pleasant conversation.
Felt cool. 🎉
The first time I became aware of Vince Gill was I think when we first got CMT, and he had a video set at a drive in. Think it was Little Liza Jane?
Great interview!
Thanks Cherokee... Joe
I Meant Every Word He Said. Oh my goodness, what a great song.
Thanks WSC.... my co-writers were Bucky Jones and Curly Putnam. Thanks for watching....Joe
RIP Joe…..you were a great interviewer with excellent guests. You also took time to reply to any comments here.
@thejigantics2641, your continued kind words and support for the channel would mean so much to dad, & still goes to me… he really appreciated his friends like you here on the channel & it was his joy to comment back. Hope you can visit the museum sometime!
Best,
Britt
Awesome interview!
Thanks John….Joe
I have three county artists that I like and sometimes listen to, Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood, and Vince Gill!! I’d heard of Garth back in the nineties but wasn’t someone who listened to his music. I started listening to country music about three years ago; prior to that I only heard the occasional song here and there on the radio. But what I love about those three artists are they are regular people- they don’t have this entitled air about them very down to earth!! Love Vince Gill!!

@@MusiciansHallofFameMuseum I can tell 😉.
Some of the easiest music is the best.Something about the simplicity of it,I reckon.Vince is exactly right.
They have 5 tool players in baseball as in great at everything . I say in music there are what i call 3 tool artists great singers great musician and great songwriters its rare to find many who excelled at all 3 but Vince is without doubt one of the very few and one of the very best.
The band called Bare Naked Ladies have a great song honouring Brian Wilson. It’s simply called Brian Wilson, and the best video of it has the W in the corner.
You're great Vince. Don't listen to any negativity. They're jealous
Your wonderful and still very handsome ❤️
I wish there was an interview like this with Tracy Byrd,
Vince fits in perfectly with the Eagles, and who cares what any idiot critics think about it!

It's not true that Brian Wilson never did Surf's Up live. He performed it in around 2002 at that big London debut of his unfinished album.
