The sheer fact in it of itself that Richard is still here is amazing, let alone the other fact that he's currently a team owner. I mean, he's been around for the entire length of the existence of NASCAR, and he's STILL involved, now as the figurehead of RPM. Just awesome. Glad The King is around giving back to the sport he helped grow so many decades ago.

Fechin Attuah. My hero I first witnessed him win the 1964 daytona 500 as a kid. Got his autograph that day.Never be another Long live the KING Richard Petty
Dale Sr is the best when it came to consistency under the Winston format. Petty had to adapt to the constant rule changes in his career along with Johnson
@@stevenrohauer1830 petty only didn’t had competition when people died early, severe injuries or retired early. That’s between 67-71 the person he was only competing at that time was Pearson

Didn't know there was THAT many petty's. One of my favorite drivers i never got to see race. Man are times different. Good looking cars, Lack of safety equipment, and rules, like the beginning they show people on the grass lol, absolutely nothing but balls of steel back in the day. Nothing but absolute respect for these drivers. And Rest in Peace to all the ones that lost their lives in racing.
Well you don't race on the grass, much of what is "safety" just bs to bunch the field up, which is not safe 🤣... you noticed how spaced out they are? Now they say the fans would call that kind of racing boring now. I promise you it wasn't. They didn't have nearly as many caution Flags. The safer barrier the Hans device all of that has nothing to do with any of the other lol
Even though some people would probably say that he stayed racing too long, especially from 1988 when he entered his 50's, but without doubt, he more than earned his nickname, "The King." The NASCAR record books, however great or small, will feature Richard Petty a staggering number of times. An amazing career
Petty and his dad did what few others did in early NASCAR... PUT EVERY OUNCE OF THEIR BEING INTO NASCAR RACING. Even in a more structured schedule and higher competition of the 1970’s, Petty was still able to win 54 races in the Winston Cup years. So to say that Petty had it easy... HE MADE IT EASY!
I live in the UK so don’t know a great deal about NASCAR, but Richard Petty is such a legend, he just seems like such a normal guy where most would be big heads. Legend
I don’t care what anyone says Richard Petty is that GUY he is the greatest NASCAR driver of all time and there is no debate and no one is coming close to EVEN touching that title and that line of greatness Petty had.
I remember my dad had a picture of the king in our garage and in the pic he had the STP hat on with the brim bent kind of squared like he does at 26:00. I thought that was cool as hell and I swear every baseball cap I had was bent like that growing up lol love the King!
Wow, Richard Petty was a man of many images throughout the '60's and '70's especially, he's 83 and still goin' strong, long live the King of NASCAR!!! I even have 7 pairs of the sunglasses he marketed for Cool ray polaroid eyewear from the '70's!!! They're sometimes easy to come by!!!
I carry a lot of respect for that man. Richard Petty he never forgot where he came from.He never let money go to his head. That's one thing I respect him for
Richard Petty always has been my favorite driver since I was a kid 🤣 I was talking about him after I got some stuff for Christmas I believe but my mom asked me and dad why he always wore sunglasses asked if he was blind 🤣🤦
What an amazing career. 200 wins and countless of other records in NASCAR. His career ended before I was born, I would have loved to see him racing every week. Long live the king. NASCAR is one of the two sports that I watch even during vacation and get out of bed for it (also during the night). The other one is Formula 1.
It was so cool to see all the fans come down to the fence and wave off a beaten and broken car because they knew who the driver was and what he meant to the sport. Even broken and beaten he still had that final lap...Many others have deserved it and never got to have that aspect...I.E...Dale Sr. And Alan Kulwicki...
