These guys are freaking amazing. Lzzy's vocals in this song are kickass.
she killed those Rob Halford high notes. The high escalation of his octaves, she nailed. also to the rest of the band, they did a great job at nailing kk downing and Glen Tipton on the guitars. superb. always good. if anyone is reading this check out her cover of white snake, still of the night it's fucking badass.
it feels like she is singing lower. anyhow it sounds less controlled though due that rob halford did more low to high shrieks in the main part of the song (excluding the chorus which was done well).
@@shagstars And yet it sounds better than whatever halford tracked back then. It's not the modern production, the way she sings, pretty much is more energetic. Fuck control. I hope she will preserve her voice as best as possible...
@@shagstars Also her live version, oh man (or are you a woman?) it's moving!!! It's amazing, as if the mic can't handle her...you see it recorded from the crowd and the whole band struggles to catch up with her voice! She is so powerful.
@@81giorikas That will not happen if she sings like this. She will sound worse if she gets 45-50 years old with this style.

I love it when a band has the guts to cover a band like Priest, has the talent to do it right and the energy to bring it off. Halestorm is fantastic in so many ways.

@@JPR17 I'm sorry, but I have to disagree... I think that "Dissident Agressor" is by far, in my top 10 covers of all-time, hands down! I respect your opinion, but I can't agree... Slayer have put their sound on what sounds like a Judas Priest song (on a phrasing level) and I can't deny, they've done a great job as it sounds like the original, yet like Slayer... Regardless, keep on rockin' !!!

My thought, this is a great cover! Best cover of this song i have heard. I actually have listened to it multiple times cuz i think it rocks! I read comments below about comparing it to Priest, and, altho the lead singer of Halestorm is great, we cannot compare her to Rob. in my opinion, if you want to hear the BEST BAND EVER live, then grab a copy of Judas Priest Unleashed in the east, or look for Rob doing Beyond the realms of death live in the mid 70s, Altho Rob is getting old now, He was back then, the best ever, and i still think the best of all time! Its great to see bands play old Priest, even if it cant compare to the original, the songs are great! - again, I think this cover, altho not priest... is still awesome! Great job!

Amazing! Rob is a Metal God. Lzzy makes me want to hear her do MORE JUDAS! Please MORE JUDAS! Her range and ability make me hope she'll do Rob Halford (more), Ronnie James Dio, Klaus Meine and Bruce Dickenson. I'd even like to see what they can do with a UFO song. The band just seems to get better and better... Based on the video's I've seen I'd love to see them live.
I think this version is a better and more faithful cover than Slayer's; Slayer did a great job with the instrumentals, but they neutered the verse melody and took out all the high notes, despite that the vocal part was a major factor in what made the original song awesome

Which version did you hear first ?
It's sometimes kinda hard to like Priest's songs when you aint use to their style, especially Rob's high-pitched voice. This cover's good though, but it lacks of the raw power of Rob's voice imo. For instance, Halestorm chorus sounds real nice, but aint as strong as what Rob does all by himself.
This being said, I understand that you prefer this version, it indeed sounds much "cleaner", which happens to be what I dislike, or rather like less, in comparison to the original.
Priest is the ultimate of the battle of good and evil. They start out Harmonic and then get downright evil. This song was put out in the 70's and still holds up. I challenge anyone to listen to Stained Class or Hero Hero and not realize the complexity and power. They had it all. Robs range, with the dual attack on guitar makes them in the Top 5 metal groups of all time. So this is a nice cover but let's be real. NO ONE can cover this and have it be better than the original. NO ONE!!!!!

I certainly never meant to imply that this version was better than the original; Judas Priest is my favorite band BECAUSE of their groundbreaking dynamics and the raw power of Halford's vocal style; hell they basically single-handedly invented the quintessential heavy metal style
But that doesn't mean a good cover doesn't deserve praise; and I think in doing a legitimately original take while keeping the core of the original, Halestorm did a hell of a job

I just saw these guys at the Bloomsburg Fair in PA three weeks ago and they did this song: this may be the only band I've ever heard of that sounds better live than in the studio. Lzzy absolutely tore this song apart, ten times better than the studio version. Amazing, yes. Damned near supernatural.

This is talent. This is true talent cause all those kids thinkin these new "artists" (i use that term loosely) have any real talent don't know what musics about. I love Halestorm, I absolutely love this band and the covers they do. Ask any kid/teen who Judas Priest is and I guarantee you they won't have a clue. Im 17 but my dad listened to Judas Priest, Ozzy, ACDC, Dio, etc when I was a kid. I was there with him and I loved every second of those songs. It just made me want to start bangin my head and get the blood flowin and the adrenaline racin

As you can probably tell by screen name I'm a huge Priest fan. Normally I say no one can cover the Priest but I really like this. Lzzy can sing just about anything. Most of their cover songs are done pretty well including this one. Doesn't top the original of course but it's still cool.

They are INSANE live. They're 1000% better live than they are in the studio. Saw them live last year with Chevelle, HELLYEAH, and Evanescence. Halestorm was the highlight of the night by far.
