    Another great foggy morning. It amazes me how the beautiful sunrise comes through for you. I'm thinking that it doesn't happen everyday. It even comes through so well on your blogging camera. You really pulled some of those trees off the background. Woodpeckers are a nice surprise. Mike

      Thanks Mike, I guess it's all because of that bit of fog on the horizon that the first light is soft enough to use it. With the video camera you realy have to aim for the sky to show it. It never works with yourself in the frame. Yeah the woodpecker was nice. I think there was a nest there but could not see it properly. Grt guido

      Thanks, that woodpecker was a nice surprise. At home I noticed that he had a worm In his beak. But he didn't have that earlier and he didn't fly away in the time in between. So I actualy think that there was a nest but I just could not see it. Thanks for watching and your comment! Grt guido

    Another wonderful video of your homeland. You certainly do have a knack for finding the fog, or rather the fog finds you. As for the mosquitoes insect repellent. They may still buzz you but they will be reluctant to bite. If you don’t use repellent here is Ozz, they might just carry you away, they can get rather large and clothing doesn’t stop them. Best of luck with the bugs and thanks for another great video. 🙂🙂

      Thank you, nicoline. I don't know. Somehow, I have a good feeling of when to go out. I have to admit that it even starts to get difficult when there is no fog around. I actually found a solution for my bug problem. You will see it in a video somewhere next week. I got a new device that worked great. Didn't expect anything of it, but it does work! Hello Guido
    Wonderful conditions and amazing images as always :-). We have the same problem with mosquitos here in lower Bavaria. Yesterday afternoon I had a little bit of time and walked in a forest for making some pitures. It was terrible with the mosquitos.

      Those mosquitos here are just coming in numbers and sizes that I have never seen before. I guess it has something to do with the soft winter here and the extreme amounts of rain. There is water everywhere for them to lay their egs in.but I found a solution. Never thought it would work, but it does! You will see it in a video somewhere next week. Hope you got some great images in that forest to make it worth it! Grt guido

    One thing i like about your photography, Guido, is that you are not afraid to prepare an image that is awash with light - an image where light is the real subject, regardless of what you stick in the frame to support the opportunity. Nice vid and great images. Fingers crossed for Saturday's Turkey shoot. Cheers.

      Funny, I've heard that before, and then I'm thinking to myself, why is nobody doing this? Doesn't work all the time, but it is a nice trick to clear backgrounds and get cleaner images. I don't think the Dutch has a great team this year, but we will see. The Germans are out, so who knows, maybe we will get lucky 😅 thanks for watching grt guido

    Guido, can you see those BIG GRASS next to you with droplets? I'd immediately try to macro that with the sunrise colours! So nice, to see we have different perspective.
    Though, perfect weather conditions for fog, and nice captures of those landscapes! PS: Could you make one video with using like, only HIGH RES MODE, mixed with 50/80 mpx? We can rarelly seen that on youtube.

    • @GuidoVanDeWater
      @GuidoVanDeWater  3 місяці тому +2

      There is always a difference in perspective. Usualy I only start noticing thing like that when the light gets boring haha. I will remember that about the 80 and 50 mp hihj res shots. I actualy doubt if there is much difference. And for the record... all high res shots I did untill this video were all 50mp once. On the om1mk2 the 80mp high res shots have become 14 bit shots and lightroom could not process them. Finally with the update from a few weeks ago lightroom can handle them. Next time I will take the same shot normal, 50mp and 80mp would be fun to see if there is any difference. Good idea thanks! Grt guido

      This was recorded about a month ago just before I had to return it. It was the last video with it. As an ambassador, I cable loan stuff, and so I got this lens from then. But after 6 months, every loan ends. I just received confirmation that a new one is on its way l. They like what u do with it, so they want me to use it for another period. Until then, I can save enough money to buy one myself 😅 don't know how long it's going to take, but you will see it back sometime soon... thanks for watching and your comment. Grt guido

    Magical Guido, a beautiful video and images such as pleasure to come along with you. How many shots was the pano? The woodpecker is definitely a young one top of head mostly red. Nice kestrel shot too👍 Look forward to part 2

    • @GuidoVanDeWater
      @GuidoVanDeWater  3 місяці тому +1

      If I remember correctly, the pano was 7 shots, but I cropped it a little. I think there was a nest there for the woodpecker. In the second shot, it has a caterpillar in its beak. It pulled that somewhere out of the tree. So that's when I realised that it had probably just left the nest. In the end, it did fly away... thanks for watching and the comment! Grt guido

      Het was best bijzonder want het vogeltje trok ineens zelf die worm uit de 2de foto uit de boom. Ik denk dus dat er ergens een nest zat daar waar nog war voorraad lag alleen ik kon het nest niet vinden. Uiteindelijk vloog die overigens wel weg. Bedankt boor het kijken weer. Grt guido

    I saw the Hi-Res processing message come up at 3:20. Are you using that feature a lot in your work these days?
    Edit: that pano at 9:05 is, as we say in these parts, da bomb. Did you crop it from a Hi-Res shot?

    • @GuidoVanDeWater
      @GuidoVanDeWater  2 місяці тому

      When the dynamic range in an image is high, i often use high res or bracket. When I think an image is really good, then intake high-resolution images so that I have lots of pixels. The pano is a 6 shot one that I put together with lightroom, so no high res. Thanks for the compliment. I'm happy to see you liked it. Thanks for watching, and your comment inappreciate it! Grt guido

  • @royd63uk
    @royd63uk 3 місяці тому +1

    Your images are spectacular and inspiring. Do you always use high res is this because of the 20 megapixels and you need more for landscape( or do you)?. I too have the OM1 mark 2 and loving it.

    • @GuidoVanDeWater
      @GuidoVanDeWater  3 місяці тому +1

      I don't always use the high res mode. Usualy only when the dynamic range is to high. And it only works when there is no wind at all. If there is a lot of movement in leaves then the high res files don't look so good. But no I deffinitly don't need the more megapixels. In fact I hate those huge size files l, how do you store all that stuf... but for me it's about getting enough details in the darker areas without over exposing the highlights. If I can't so that with a normal shot then I use a high res shot or I make a bracket of multiple exposures. Or I make a bracket of multiple exposed high res shots when I want to go crazy 😅 there is a video from a few months ago where I explained when I use witch method. Might be interesting. You have a great camera there I love mine to! Thanks for watching and your comment I really appreciate it! Grt guido

    How do you get the beautiful color in tree pictures, do you have to enhance in lightroom or is it straight out of the camera? We have the same mosquito problem here in the midwest Usa

    • @pentagramyt417

      Obivously, some corrections are needed. Who uses JPEG today? It's more complex than you think. JPEG is only 8 BIT file, while RAW is 12 bit, so working room is a bit higher. That means, you need to shot RAW and add corrections in saturation, contrast and colours.

    • @GuidoVanDeWater
      @GuidoVanDeWater  3 місяці тому

      Well the trick is to take image with the histagram on the brighter side but not over exposed! Then in oost processing you pull down the highlights. And if the dynamic range is to big then I take multiple exposures from dark to bright and then I add those together with lightroom. It's all about getting enough data in the file to lift the shadows without getting to much noise. And be carefull with the highlight because you don't want to blow these out. If you manage to do that you can take cracking inages. I will make a video on how i do that in the future. Thanks for watching and your comment. Grt guido

    • @GuidoVanDeWater

      You would be surprised how many people use jpg. Not everyone want to spend hours editing their photos like I do 😅 I actually have a video coming up somewhere next week we're all the images are jpg. Somehow, I didn't notice that the camera was set wrong, so I did not have a single raw file in that shoot. One correction btw the om-1 mkII takes 14-bit files when you use the high-resolution tripod mode (80 mp files). Doesn't happen with the hand-held high res. Thanks for your comment! Grt guido

      @@GuidoVanDeWater Some of course, I should add as a wildlife photographer I have no choice. There is almost everytime something to repair :) Once I've back from shooting, I drove hundred of kilometers one way, and then after coming back I realized I was shooting JPEG not RAW (somehow)... there was a significant difference in quality I need to be honest. I've done one of the best images there of the certain subjects, and I could not edit them... I was so mad...! :D
