    I’m a sucker for color photos and never got my hand on B&W, but those shots were amazing. Really liked the bull shot. Great compare of the autumn and winter composition. Can’t beat autumn for the red pop but the b&w winter captured some mood and emotions 😁 great video dude.

    can you test the 40-150 with x2 tc against 100-400? have 2 lens in one sounds soo good and is great reason tp choose 2.8 against f4 version and if the quality is equal or superior than 100-400 loosing only 300-400 but constant 5.6 more compact, lightweight, without zoom extension... if this guy can make the job of the other better than him is unbeatable

      I did try this in the past and to my surprises there wasn't much difference. Maybe the 40-150 2.8 with mc-20 was even slightly better. But this was very minimal. Of course knowing that I could getbthe additional reach with the 100-400 I still preferred that in the end. Maybe I will make a video comparison of all the telephoto lenses Maybe that's helpful. Thanks for watchibg grt guido

      Depends on how you look at it. Buy a full frame lens with the same specs and it's even twice the price. So I guess this is a bargain if you compare it to that. But I agree that it is very expensive and I'm probably never going to be able to buy one myself. Thanks for watching grt guido

    other camera brands only make pro lenses for FF and entry level lens for apsc forcing their users to pay FF lenses if they want to get more quality sealed and other things and to charge more wheigt than they really needs, in MFT we have all the lens we can dream with much less weight and cost

      I actually don't know about the other brands but I know the m43 lenses are amazing and indeed for much less the theyre full frame equivalents. I still dont get why the system is still so underrated. Thanks for watching and your comment I appreciate it. Grt guido

      @ because they cant want people See the pros and cons of every format, for example only looking in less focus área as advantage but lo look how in landscape we can use f4 and they stop to f8 and up 2 ISO stops to get the same image

    Guido, I am a huge fan of monochrome and black and white photography and I would estimate about a third of the images I make are monochrome. I mostly make this decision in camera rather than in post. More often than not I make my monochrome images a type of sepia rather than straight black and white. There is something about sepia toned images I absolutely love particularly when the conditions are wet or water is involved. I very rarely shoot full colour and if I do so, I use the muted colour option in camera to guide me. More often than not, I shoot using the partial colour options in my OM System/Olympus cameras. The reason for this is I don't like the way cameras render greens in their digital files. The partial colour mode allows me to dial down the greens to something much more natural from the start and shows me how it might look when I post-process my images. I got to this point by experimentation.

    • @GuidoVanDeWater
      @GuidoVanDeWater 2 дні тому

      Funny I really like the olympus and on system cameras because the way they manage colors and especially greens. They're quite often much better then other brands. But since I started photographing raw I don't really care anymore because I always adjust everything in post post processing. I usually pull the blues down a little for example. I haven't tried the sepia yet maybe that I good idea to try also. Thanks for watching and your comment. Grt guido

    • @danevarkevisser4670
      @danevarkevisser4670 День тому

      @@GuidoVanDeWater No doubt it is a matter of taste, but for me even the starting point of raw files is misleading and things tend to be pushed to make things greener than they were. It is not capturing the tonal variation and slight shifts in hue that I am seeing in the field. This is not an Olympus/OM Systems thing. It seems to be a thing for all camera manufacturers and digital files in general. It is probably less noticeable if you are photographing in northern Europe where you don't see the tonal range you see in foliage here where I photograph in SE Australia. A lot of the foliage here tends to be glaucous (a soft bluish green) and yet when I look at the raw files this is completely lost. The foliage somehow becomes nothing more than green with not a hint of blues which are everywhere. I think this is part of the reason why photographers here in Australia struggle with woodland photography. They just can't get it right and ultimately the whole feeling of the image is wrong. I remember listening to a interview with Hans Strand and he also felt greens are the most difficult colour to manage in digital photography. He was of the opinion that it is almost impossible to get the greens right in a digital file.

    Hi Guido, the black and white images worked really well with the wintry foggy conditions. We take black and white photographs on a regular basis, sometimes it really enhances the mood and makes for a more mystical picture. Well done and the free roaming Highland cattle make for an interesting subject.😊

    Hoi Guido Ja de weg kwijtraken, en middels een eerder gemaakte foto van een boomtak de weg weer terug vinden. Leuker gaat het niet worden 😂. Leuk, ook dat je met z/w aan het stoeien bent. Bij Z/w moet de compositie de foto dragen,bij een kleuren foto doen de kleuren dat. Z/w vraagt om een andere benadering dan kleur. Ben benieuwd hoe je z/w foto’s er over een jaar uit zien. We hadden de afgelopen weken hier in de regio veel mist, iets dat bij ons weinig voorkomt. Dan wordt het gemis van een camera toch wel erg tastbaar😂.

      Fantastische omstandigheden deze week. Ik heb de camera gelukkig wel alleen lig al de hele week ziek in bed. Gister ochtend dacht ik het gaat beter dus even eruit maar kwam er al snel achter dat het geen goed idee was en dus maar snel weer naar huis gegaan 😅 voor mij is de maatstaaf met zwart wit nog altijd dat er weinig kleur in de foto moet zitten. Als er niks uitspringt qua kleur dan probeer ik nu al op locatien naar zwart wit te gaan om inderdaad meer op de compositie en de contrasten te focussen. Ben ook wel benieuwd hoendat zich gaat ontwikkelen. Bedankt voor het kijken. Grt guido

    Nice pictures! I do not take black and white pictures so often... How much do you use this lens on the wide end? I have 12-45mm which is great and think about this 8-25mm. Thank you

    • @GuidoVanDeWater
      @GuidoVanDeWater 3 дні тому

      Well I've used it multiple times wider then 12mm but the main thing is that you look for composition wider them 12mm. With the 12-40 is never felt it was worth switching to the 7-14. So now that I have a wider availability on the camera already I just look at it much faster. QUESTION : How often you take black and white landscape images?

    • @abysal2000
      @abysal2000 2 дні тому

      well... I never take black and white landscape photos :-) I don't really know why. Back in the days of black and white film, there was simply no other option and it was a certain limitation, although photographers in those days operated primarily with light, the play of light and shadow, texture, contrast, etc. Today we admire the photos of A. Adams, although the truth is that he was also a master of photo processing in the photographic darkroom. Our thinking is "colorful" in the sense that we perceive the world in colors and even imagine it in colors, hence someone like me also takes photos in colors. This is a certain paradox because just as the old masters were limited by black and white film, so I - having modern equipment that allows me to take photos in black and white, give up this tool. What's more, many people give up consciously creating photos without interfering with WB settings at all, leaving everything for later, until the post-production stage. Black and white today is not a necessity but one of the options. Sometimes it's the black and white that make an ordinary photo into a photo with atmosphere, with depth, with a certain atmosphere of melancholy, etc. Maybe it's because I look for emotions other than the aforementioned melancholy in photography, so somehow I subconsciously avoid B&W, even though I know that I often lose something this way... maybe it's time to break through?

    • @GuidoVanDeWater
      @GuidoVanDeWater День тому

      @abysal2000 I love those black and white from analogue Adams. Today I heard a new tactics from a national geographic photographer. He always puts the viewfinder in black and white. But that doesn't matter for the outcome it can still be color. But this way he is more focused on composition instead of color. Everybody has its own preferences in what they do and how they do it. I guess it's all about finding what you like the most. Thanks for watching grt guido

    • @GuidoVanDeWater
      @GuidoVanDeWater 3 дні тому

      I never thought it did, but it really helped me to see the compositions better. Somehow, in black and white, it's totally different. It's all about contrast. I've seen compositions that seemingly never worked get interesting when I looked at the in black and white. And of course you can enhance that by using special color filters. I bought a pair of Markhof gloves and was a little disappointed - not as warm as I had hoped and very little resistance to rain. I also bought a pair of Tinden which are much warmer. I haven't tried them in rain yet. My favourite gloves are a pair of PSP liners which seem as warm as the Markhof on their own (obviously not in rain), and very comfortable to use with the camera controls. They also add greatly to the utility of the other two gloves.

    Hoi Guido Dat waren weer een hoop praktische aankopen. De canon P1000 is een erg goede printer die weinig verschilt van zijn opvolger. Ik heb sinds een 4 tal maanden erg leuk en goed contact met de Foto-Groep, dat is een groep van 10 goede fotozaken hoofdzakelijk gevestigd in het noorden van Nederland , en zelfs Weert wat dan weer best zuid is. Ik ga begin februari fysiek kennis met ze maken. In Hilversum . Ze verkopen naast Canon ook Om-system, dus dat is leuk om ze naast elkaar in handen te hebben. Ze geven 7 jaar garantie op aankopen vanaf €1000. Ik ben zeer benieuwd , maar mocht het Om-system worden, dan wacht ik rustig een actie van Om-system af. Dan geven ze mooie kortingen. Ik heb nu alweer 4 maanden geen camera, dat begin ik nu toch wel erg te missen. Groetjes weer
