You want heavy ? The Small Print, Psycho, The Handler, Reapers, Stockholm Syndrome, New Born, Assassin, Micro Cuts, Citizen Erased, Hyper Music, Dead Star, The Groove, Fury, Hysteria, Unnatural Selection, MK Ultra, Supermassive Black Hole, Map of the Problematique, Supremacy, Knights of Cydonia, Plug in Baby, Execution Commentary, Space Dementia, Survival. Most of them in live performances, cause Muse is better live. And as for my favorite Muse song, not the heaviest but still, with a great guitar riff, Glorious.
Whatever you get recommended, try and watch live versions. This possibly one the heaviest things they have recorded, but if anything it's more in line with what they are like live, which hasn't always been that well captured on studio recordings. The mixing on this is fantastic, even the snare is low end. Assassin (Live at the Mayan) is one of my favourites. Break It To me (Simulation Theory Film) Showbiz (Reading 2017)
See a lot reactors shocked by them bringing the heavy, but it's actually not new for them. Admittedly their new music has been a bit more experimental with digital sounds or rock opera feels. Funny enough, their radio singles were always my least favorite songs on the album but seem to be chosen because they appeal to more audiences. I always loved their classical styling over aggressive rock riffs/hooks.
The producer of this album hinted the album gets heavier as well, so definitely excited for this!! Songs u shld check out include: New Born, Stockholm Syndrome, The Small Print, Hysteria, Assassin, Knights Of Cydonia(my personal favourite)

Specifically with their orchestral rock material and just how epic they sound. It honestly is some of the most best cinematic rock music I have ever heard. Muse is that band whose singles do not justice for them.

Edit: For Assassin, I'd recommend the live version from their concert at "The Mayan".

Muse is good at defying expectations musically without each album and song in the directions it can go in with the experimental sounds. This song is a great example of that. This is essentially the heaviest Muse song so far with the guitar effects and riffs along with the drums to a degree. Of course heavy is relative in music to a degree also, but I feel this song mixes their earlier sounds of Origin of Symmetry, hint of Absolution, but more Drones as it was a heavier sounding album to me and then the experimental electronic sounds of 2nd Law. I feel we are in for a treat with the rest of the album.
I love Muse's older albums and this song is like a dream come true. Was actually surprised by how alt-metally it was. Muse & BMTH tour in the future maybe?
Muse has some reasonably heavy stuff and that's credit to their creativity and their experimentation. I wish I could direct you to a certain album, but their heavy songs are dispersed all over the place. A few of their heaviest songs are definitely Citizen Erased from Origin of Symmetry, Dead Star from the Dead Star EP, Stockholm Syndrome from Absolution, Assassin from Black Holes and Revelations and Reapers from Drones. To be honest, heavy or not, you really can't go wrong with their first 3 albums.
Yes Citizen Erased and I think Survival as well since for both these songs he goes with his 7 strings Manson. Other songs in drop B from the top of my head would be from the last album Killed Or Be Killed or a less conventionnal style with Break It To Me.
Muse seem to have a central sound, which they supplement with different genres to hook new fans to their brand. I started listening with Drones (specifically Reapers) but I know people who were hooked with Starlight, Dig Down and other slight outliers from their style.
It seems most folk completely miss the relevance behind the lyrics. The track has another title; 'Living Vicariously', & may be better described by a phrase 'Psychological Warfare' - from the song itself. It's about a world-wide psychological battle between a few old men (dude in a wheel chair) & the mindless pawns (represented by those under his control). So the one singing the words is standing firm; outside the visuals - getting stronger by refusing to 'stand down', refusing to surrender to the systemic game of manipulation by the slave-master over the masses of hapless slaves. A great song with incredibly intelligent lyrics by a most relevant band indeed.
Glad you like it! If you want to check out some of their heavier tracks I'd recommend a live performance of Stockholm Syndrome (for example Rock am Ring 2004)
Muse became my favorite band about 5 years ago, I just randomly started listening to some of their greatest hits and the one thing I can say about being a new Muse fan, is that they have an expansive pallet of taste and style. Most people who don't dig a lot of their more experimental stuff most likely have a pretty shallow palette for music because Muse has never really changed. They have only tried anything and everything that they thought they wanted to do. And that's why I respect them because they do it all so well. I also think we need more rock bands with more uplifting or insightful lyrics. Everything is so dark now, it wears on you listening to dark shit Non-Stop. Long live MUSE!
Loving this track, it's got elements of newer Muse combined with older tracks, and some novel elements too - I hear some Dead Inside, Map of the Problematique and Hysteria in this track, but its also got a breakdown which is way heavier than anything they've done before (except live) - and from what I hear the rest of the album is going to have some heavy tracks in it... to say I'm excited is an understatement
It also makes it so much better when you know the lore behind all of their other work. This vid makes references to their drones album, particularly the track The Handler. Watch a live version of The Handler from their Drones tour and you’ll see what I’m talking about!! In this song Matt becomes the handler which has very interesting implications for the direction the album will take!! I love muse so much I could write you an essay in much greater detail about how parts of their work piece together lol

I love MUSE. Probably my favorite band of all time. I love that they returned to a much more heavy sound (though their last few albums did have some songs like that). But, I can't help but think they keep trying to write songs to like sell to sports networks like Fall Out Boy, Panic! At The Disco etc have done. Like that terrible Olympics song they tried to do. The lyrics are just so basic and shallow compared to their first few albums.

Banger
Dude, their first 3 albums are soooooo much better than their newer stuff. This new song is pretty damn good bringing back their old school sound again.
Just watch the Hullbaloo live show (formerly known as dvd).
The only heavy Muse song that can compare to this is probably Supremacy, freaking love that one!
Old shit LETS Goooooooo
Just look at Muse from 16 years ago...by far their best since
This one is a banger.
Check out the Stockholm Syndrome at Pinkpop Festival in 2004 video on youtube. Esspecialy the ending where they break their equipment.

And Assassin live at the Mayan is also a great one.
BRING ME THE MUSE
The mix sounds like Posthuman by BMTH IMO
Because it's made by the same producer Dan Lancaster. The prechorus sounds very similar to Parasite Eve after the first verse.
Phénomènal talentueux brilliant génies MUSE Matt merci merci à vous réac parfait salutations de France 🇫🇷👍👏🎸 je suis hyper fan excellent
Anyone who knows and has followed muse for years isnt surprised how heavy this song is, just listen to stockholm, deadstar, assassin, hyper music, agitated etc
Please react to nekrogoblikon. It’s a must
Reminds me of casanova by thornhill
"Never knew muse could drop their guitar this down." Man you gotta listen citizen erased with its 7 stringer.
