As an older (65) golfer, I remember when Maxfli and Titleist were the premier golf balls in the business. Jack Nicklaus played Maxfli. I had to chuckle at the comment about “the circle” on the ball. That’s old school. The original Maxfli balls were colored from highest to lowest compression, Black, Red, Green (100, 90, 80) and later Blue (first Surlyn). They had the matching colored dot/circle on the ball…so that’s TRADITION for Maxfli. I moved away from Pro V’s because of the price, and decided before a golf trip to pick up a cube (4 doz) of these just to use on my trip. I keep buying and playing them. I’ve started to move towards the Tour X, which flys demonstrably higher, but still play the Tour regularly. They are in my opinion the absolute best value out there. Yeah, my friends say; “nobody plays Maxfli anymore”….as I take their money….fine with me.
It's incredible how that mindset if so widely viewed in golf. It's not even just Max fli balls. I had a video recently where I listed the top 10 longest golf balls tested. The number one comment I got was random people coming to watch and claiming "this list is garbage! I haven't even heard of half of these golf balls!" Which my response is, so? Just because you haven't heard of them they don't deserve to be in the top 10? So many people now believe that if you haven't heard of a golf ball there's just no way it could perform well. If it's not a Pro V1 or if a tour player doesn't play it there's just no possible way it's worth any amount of money. I don't know where this mindset came from but it's exactly why I made this channel and why I'm trying to destroy that norm. Great insight sir. Thank you so much for sharing your feedback 😁
I have been playing the tour for the past two years. I am around a 7-8 handicap. I love this ball. I feel like it’s just a clone of the PV-1. I have the version this year without the putting alignment and prefer it over the one you used in your review. I do have a a higher swing speed but I am glad I tried them out last year. Was in a rush one day stopped at a DSG and saw them and were like let’s try them and have never looked back. Bought the 4 dozen pack this year for $100 and still have 2 dozen left.
I think that's the direction they've gone over the last few years. I think slowly but surely they've tried to make it as close to a tour like golf ball as they could.
The Tour Soft is awesome. Feels great. Lower spin. Gets up in the air and longer than anything I have tested. Spin down on drivers but fine on irons. Really good and affordable.
I definitely understand. A few other golf balls that launch though I really like are the Titleist velocity, the Wilson triad, and of course the max fly.
@@GolfBallAddict brilliant. Thanks for the advice. I bought a dozen Vice Pro at your suggestion and they are excellent. I only swing a driver around 90-95 mph so I am a bit limited for choice.
I’ve played this ball four three years and love it!! I am loosing my eyesight and wished they made it in bright yellow. Sadly, I’m looking for a replacement with no luck so far.
Have you specifically played the newer version? Did you notice it being firmer than previous models? Just wondering if a regular user noticed any changes
Thanks for the review. I wonder if their intent was to have people use whatever color marker they want to make their own stripe? I like the ball. It may launch a little lower but plays well. Cost wise it is a value. Those with low speeds should look into shafts with tip flex that helps launch the ball.
Curious to see how you get on with the 2023 trifli. Used to play prov1s cause they were popular but recently started trying softer balls since I can’t really swing hard enough to take advantage. Gravitated to maxfli. Tried the softfli and found it was too soft for me, but been playing the newer trifli lately and loving it. The dimple pattern doesn’t seem to have much effect for me, I’m still able to shape left or right. Might be my favorite feeling ball. Especially at 65 for 4 dozen. I’ve tried these tours as well and liked them, but like you said mishits just don’t work out that well.
I'm really hoping that because they moved and shift the focus of the Max fly tour they did the same with the tri-fly. I would love to see the tri-fly be a little softer and more for the average swing crowd. But we will find out soon
I got to say, I will be trying sone of these balls. Not sure which. Got a competitive round tommorow, rolling with Chrome Tour X. After that sleve goes, I will be picking up some maxfli or wilson tours.
Thanks for doing this video. I've been looking forward to it. So, I've been gaming the standard Tour all season (about 50 rounds) and my experience is not at all like yours. I'm around a 15 HC and have not noticed the "feedback" issues you referenced. I play stiff steel shafts so maybe there is a difference? Also my trajectory hasn't been noticeably different than the Vice Pro I or the Sugar I was using. I'm a bit of a "bump and runner" around the greens and use a 8 or 9 iron on most chips. I've gotten real good spin action and, like you, love the feel off my blade putter. Well I guess that is why there are so many different manufacturers and so many balls to choose from! Different players, different preferences, different balls! Once again thanks for the review and I'm a fan of your channel for sure!
For the history of dot, Dunlop had a golf ball with a dot and little circle around it. Dunlop changed the name to maxfli with same dot and circle. The owner now put the dot and a thin line circle around it and made it a more modern look.I used the maxfli and dunlop way back in 50s and 60s, even back then it was known as a premium golf ball.
I had to comment on a video you did a while back on different golf balls. You talked about the Bridgestone line up and said that you thought the E6 was the better ball. I had some E12’s and I took them to my local pro shop and traded them for the E6. On the other hand I’m going to purchase a dozen Cut Red. I liked your take on them, so why not.
I've heard that the cut red has fixed the durability issues. Please let me know if you have any issues regarding that. I know they're still working it out.
Love your ball reviews. Keep up the good work. One question about the 2024 maxfli tour ball. Can you get them without the new aiming graphics? I hope so. Not a fan of that big arrow.
I'm envious of your ball flight path with the driver, man. Power draw is awesome. I'm sure you see the total distance is longer on the course than what your launch monitor says. I'd imagine you get 20 yards or more of rollout it's almost like the monitor is set to soft surface, which is good for the irons because it's all about carry, but with driver, it's all about that total distance unless you play some weird course that has hazards that require some minimum carry yardages off the tee.
Oh 100 percent. At the course I work at, the fairways are some of the firmest I have ever seen. I carry 220 and roll out to 270. Thanks so much for the love 😃
Any plans on trying the updated Maxfli Trifli? I have been playing them and currently just broke 90 for the second time ever with them. have probably 11 rounds now with them and loving it.
I’m curious what you would recommend for high flying balls with all clubs for my 95mph driver swing speed? I’ve heard the X flys high but wanted to wait for your review to decide
Surprising enough, the Snell 4.0 as well as the vice Pro and the Pro Plus all launched decently high for me. With a swing speed like that you should be able to compress them really well too. Do you have any experience with any of these balls?
I have to agree with your measurements and observations on the Maxfli Tour as they reflect my experience with it. Good not great and for me Vice Pro is much superior overall. Swing has slowed a bit at 67 but can still get it out 250 so doing ok! Keep up the great work and keep building that subscriber number! Also love my Wilson Staff irons!
Nice. Thank you so much for taking the time to reaffirm my testing. Maxfly continues to be on the right path. I hope one day they can get over the hump
Great video as always!! What are your thoughts on spinning the ball to find its true balance point? I have been using a spinner to find the true balance line and point. I have noticed that the alignment on the ball does not always seem to be the same as the balls true center line.
Thanks for the review Nick, another good one. I wanted to try this ball, but I've only played 9 holes 3 times so far. With 4 dozen other new balls to play through first, I don't think I'll get to this one any time soon. In a highlight video, I saw Lexi hit a high shot, land it by the flag, and it ripped back to about 30 feet. Disappointing result, and radically different than your experience. Looking forward to your next Maxfli vid's.
I think that only proves even more that the golf balls intended for more Pro and tour like players. To get a golf ball to do that take such incredible skill. Skill I do not possess 😂
Sounds like a ball i should try! I hit a really high ball and it seems like it would be perfect for my swing speed. I cant see this being better than the Vice Pro Plus, TP5 or Tour B XS though. ...but for the price.. lol
Firm mantle and core, softer cover. Spin numbers tell the tale. I play this ball in colder weather and the X in the summer, but I also swing 105+. I will say this, to validate you wholly, I used to hate this ball. My old driver was a TM Sim2 in 8 degree, and all I hit were piss missile worm burners with the Maxfli Tour. Now with a 10.5 dialed down to 9.5, I launch far better.
@@GolfBallAddict Compression-wise, it feels firmer than a V1 or a Vice Pro, but nowhere near the firmer offerings. Remember with Vice how you liked the Plus over the regular Pro? I think that’s about to happen again.
I don't believe so. I think it is pretty cool though that they got a tour pro to represent their golf ball again. It's a big step forward and getting back to the glory of the '80s and '90s
Man, you need a putting coach...never seen a review on either putters or golf ball and no one ever sinks none.....and if this is your backyard, maybe use a blower and clean the green...also after the 1st putt, 1-2 balls left starting the putt
I'm not going to disagree and say I don't need a putting coach. I'm sure everyone could use some help. But here's what you have to understand. I'm not really trying to hit the hole. I don't even aim or stand behind the ball when I do these hits. My soul purpose is to focus on the feel and the reaction of the golf ball. I could care less if it goes in the hole or not. The reason you see so many reviews with guys making those putts, is that they're hitting multiple shots over and over and just keeping the ones they made. Not really what my channel is about.
That alignment tool is overbearing and kinda ugly. Not that I would ever use this ball being so unforgiving but ewwwww. Looks like a 10 year old had an idea and they went with it
The intro music is absolute fire
