As of DT, if you submerge your character partially in water, your clothes will become partially wet at the depth they were submerged instead of uniformly the moment you touch water.
Are you sure it was only since DT? Because I def have seen it happening while I was fishing in Endwalker. When I was walking into the shore (for example in Thavnair), it was only my shoes and bottoms that get wet, but not my shirt. Also from the one comment below: Umbrellas did dry you already in Endwalker as well. Overall both of this might not have been too noticeable though, and is now more obvious due to the graphical update!
You can do the cornservant quests as soon as the first yellow quests pop up in tuliyollal. I did all the yellow quests along the way and was so happy to get him as a minion in S9.
Yeah I looked it up since recording - subsequent quests become available as you progreess through their zones msq, adding a section to the info with all the quest locations
That's how I did it. It was always fun having him waiting for me in a new zone as the MSQ progressed (though he usually pops up half way through that zone's quest line.)
A small easter egg I noticed in Zoraal Ja's trial, but his transformation form has an unformed head on the left (his left) which I thought was a really cool detail.
Before ruining Zone 6, i think in the Disneyland area, theres some npc kids having a race. If you walk near them at the start and win their race, they will react to you.
In trial 2, if you go in with trusts, one of the boss's more complicated attacks ends up confusing Wuk Lamat and she stands in the wrong spot. There's even cute dialog from her during the trial about it.
And in the first trial, the characters who are relatively new to fighting make a lot of mistakes early on while the veterans mostly avoid the attacks, just like you'd expect them to. (And if you aren't a healer, your second healer comments that she's making mistakes because she's not used to healing!)
The kid and father thing i saw in the maincity on top of some area and i had to stop for a while and think about sooo many stuff essential when the kid laughed .... man that hit sooo deep
There’s a good bit of DT in service to the idea of family, linage, passing of the torch. And I found myself coming back to the sightings of the families in Turial and being filled with both joy and melancholy. The little game of Uppies and that laugh, might not be for me. But it’s something worth preserving regardless.

The cornservant is avaliable along side the MSQ, if anyone want to do it along side MSQ whenever MSQ is about to end on that map (final quest of the zone will have aether current) the cornservant quest will already avaliable on that map (first 3 maps will be avalaible when first half of the map is about to end) , the quest name is obvious I can pick out his quest everytime.
Genolt is obviously a reflection of Gerolt and Grenolt, and of course the Rowena counter park. Genolt avoids her entirely going so far as to never leave the recreation district so as not to encounter her. I am almost positive Otis is a reflection of Hildebrand. They have the same face though Otis has scars. But there is an underlying goofiness to Otis seen in area 6.
Some thing my friends had missed that i noticed is the name of the final boss in the 99 dungeon was the same name as the twins father (the two pink girls Nostalgia and I cant remember how to spell her sisters name)
If you pay attention, I believe Cahciua who guides you throught tat dungeon (or it might be a Duty Support party member, one of the two) goes "wait, it can't be... is that??" when you first encounter him.
2:44 alternate versions of Carvallain and Rhoswen are in Solution 9! They even have a small interaction together where she pulls up on a motorcycle - I think it's down by True Vue
Adding to the visual updates, as a raen au’ra fem with the forward-facing horns, the horns glow slightly red at the tips in daylight, just like when you hold your fingers up to a light. It was a small but surprising touch that made my WoL feel a little more real.
Your mounts tilt now! When using the turning keys (or turning via camera movement on KB+M), your mounts will tilt in the direction you're turning. All mounts do so when flying, but the best part is only mounts that make sense will tilt when grounded - for example, turning the Regalia doesn't tilt it on the ground, since... well, it's a car. But most of the horse mounts or bird mounts will tilt. And not only that, they tilt slightly more or less depending on *how hard* you're turning, too! It's such a small little detail that I don't remember seeing on patch notes or anywhere, and when I first saw it, for some reason I was just flabbergasted.
The remark about those early-expansion bugs being the things we have memories of is really on-point. I recall all the way back in Heavensward, there was a huge swarm of Naboori(?)- those floating plant enemies, near the entry point of the Dravanian Hinterlands. I also recall going through the MSQ with my friend and reaching that swarm, and then using Shadewalker on him, Katon on the swarm, and then sprinting away. Good times!
Decided to watch this as a fun thing in the morning and was instantly hit with feels when you mentioned the S9 secrets. What the heck, Rinon, I'm not meant to cry while eating my breakfast! Did all the side quests as they popped up during the MSQ and the cornservant was always fun to look out for.
Eye details was shown during the 10th anniversary 14 hour broadcast at 2:41:47 where a lalafell npc standing in the Horizon got zoomed in. And if you turn on your subtitles auto translate at 2:42:08 a little after Yoshi P would mention that the eyes are moving. Which gets further noticed by live chat.
tip incase anyone needs but sleep can be useful for when ur tank dies in dungeon can swiftcast and put the pack to sleep to stall a bit while tank finds aggro again
I loved it when cornservant said "it's cornin' time" and then corned all over the Alexandrian army. For those who haven't yet, consider clearing the yellow quest chains, especially those in the last zone. You can tell which ones have a cutscene by the banner image above the quest accept window. Some of those are pretty neat! (one even got me in the feels)
Huh, that's really good to know about the final zone and NG+. I really liked how it looked and it was actually painful to do what we did. At least we can get a snapshot of it in time with flight.
So, as an Au'ra player, I was kinda upset with the original change to Limbal Rings (them just being a blending point whereas they used to be two distinct colors.) And when the benchmark 1.0 came out, it was worse than I expected, and then it got better with 2.0. Now with release, it is almost imperceptible the little change they made (now they are still blending, but at the edges, and it is nice and subtle,) because the bigger change, the actual glow in the dark aspect of them, has me too awestruck to care. The either subtle glow in a dimly lit area or cutscene, or the big bright glow in darkness, is just amazing.
I know! It’s so cool sometimes when you wear a hood in the cutscene and the last thing the enemy sees before getting clapped is the glowing rings in the dark staring at them. Pretty goofy too when you’re supposed to be out of sight except you can see those eyes all the way from behind the boulders wol hiding 😂
Prior to DT, if your lalafell was in water while your camera was out of water, all of the lalafell's eyebrows would disappear. This is no longer the case. But it was really funny when it was still a thing
That first secret about Yoshida's departed friend actually made me cry when you remember the whole message of Dawntrail is letting the dead live on in memory
I loved exploring around solution 9 and checking out every npc, even the ones you can't talk to but give a little bubble text. My favorite is the random dude to the upper right 9f the map half submerged in a trashcan so wasted he thinks it's a bed. Honestly random npc dude....mood.
Theres a character in Solution 9 that looks incredibly similar to a character from Trails of Cold Steel, McBurn. Dude has the same hair color, hair style, everything.
6:59 can confirm. I was playing through all the sidequests as I went and every time I got to a new area I was eagerly waiting for the Corn servant quests to show up. Delightfully silly questline.

We do meet something with that same name…. and a name postfix. They pulled an Amh Araeng us and then added a fukken pet to cause others ptsd
the sleep is hysterical. Might do it for the laughs when I get in there again. Also NEW GAME+?! I forgot about that totally doing that when I fate grind in that zone.,
Hearing that last one is really interesting if you want a good /gpose, but I’m the kind of person that doesn’t shy away from reality. I prefer the dead looking world to show how the mistakes we make result in irreparable consequences.
plus imho the new zone looks really nice by itself; even though the world looks dead, the sky's natural lighting adds a relly nice effect even to the bare electrope
Another funny bug of sorts is that you can do the yellow quest "Once a Riddler, Now a Ruler" before the MSQ "Dawn of a New Tomorrow" and the former alludes to a significant reveal that hasn't happened yet. At least I don't think it's been patched unless I overlooked an update
2:50 simple you ther is no invis wall that profence you from jumping off, thats normal, the dash ability like the dancer, dragoon or pictomancer do keep you grounded from the beginning to the end at all times, so you "dash" down to the lower ground, but because you pass through the teleporter that brings you up, the animation starts as normal but because you are still in dash the game teleports you back on the teleporter to start the animation normally or in layman's terms = spaghetti code this is way, in some PVP, the enemy seems to dash off a cliff but doesn't die from it while you jump off too and die
*sees the putting the tortoise to sleep thing* Well, that's a new thing on the list of trying things out; The eye movement thing was discussed during one of the LL but it was with NPCs. Also, there's a certain glaze to the eyes that makes you think 'yep, that's an eyeball'
Maybe not that crazy or interesting but in Tural city you can get onto the two little towers at the port entrance. If you jump up some of the boxes in the market you can get on the tent roofs. Then you can jump onto one of the shade cloths to get over to the towers.
it is kind of disappointing you have to do the plot points for that last zone before you get flight. But neat that there is a way around that for screenshot purposes.
It's good for doing that, but a lot of dungeon mobs will be either completely immune to the status, or will be hit by the deluge of incoming damage, and any damage at all will wake them immediately. Since you've got stuns and interrupts available for most of these mobs anyway, Sleep is a niche and nearly pointless addition. However, the turtle is immune to stuns, making sleep the only way to interrupt it's stomp attack.
Oh my friend mentioned the Maidy NPC, and I went and confirmed with old screenshots. That is INDEED Maidy Maidy and I was UGLY CRYING. It is such a sweet homage.
i can't believe they added the feature to add comments to the blacklist before adding it to the friendslist.. i'm someone who gives everyone a comment on every platform so i can keep up with name changes, and this has been a feature i've wanted in xiv for ages :(
That Unlimited Jump in Solution 9 is absolutely going away. I cant find any sources myself strictly applying this philosophy to XIV, but I've read before that Japanese devs are real stickers for maintaining the "beleivaility" of their fictional worlds, and having them "flawless", which creates a pretty harsh anti-glitch perspective, no matter how benign or useless. Especially if it's something that has gained any degree of traction.
You didn't mention anything about the references to wanderer's palace hard mode or other things like that during the story that your character clearly reacts to. Or that one of the expert dungeons has the source's version of the Au Ra obsessed with the serpent on the first.
I can't enjoy ff14/play 7.0 because of minimum requirements for my laptop prohibit me from doing so. I'm glad everyone who's able to play are enjoying it well
Cameos are a nice thought, but I imagine it's also unintentional. Considering how limited character creation can be. Not saying some are not real, but some might be just the same due to the limitations.

For anyone unsure about doing the New Game + thing because it would go against the point of the MSQ. A major part of that was that everyone wanted to be remembered for the happy moments and turning on the lights again will definitely make it easier to remember the good then the bad
Its a story moment, but when Erenvale asks about his mom in heritage found and nobody knows her, you just pass it off. But AFTER learning about the regulator and going to Living Memory and finding out the truth about her. Its a super smart bit of foreshadowing. They give you the fact that straight up, she is dead, front and center, but you just dont have the context to parse that out yet
Is it really a good homage when you place a character whose player died in solution 9? Cause all these characters with the regulators live off the souls of the dead members...meaning DoL's character was being sustained by other souls up until msq progression.

I don't remember them actually mentioning the eye movement, but I noticed it when they zoomed in on it.
I definitely noticed. It's strange to me how people don't seem to actually notice details. The character acting was way better across the board.

can confirm I think I've used sleep in the last week more times than any other time in the whole game 😂
I do this with Repose when I get the inevitable noob DRK tank in Stone Vigil trying to w2w pull while LoSing me in level 30 gear and not popping mits.
Really? I stopped using sleep entirely because it seemed like every enemy past ARR had invuln to it, wild they brought it back.

I was doing Cornservant simultaneously to msq and it was hilarious. Finishing a quest and bumbling into them was always a welcome surprise.
The Cornservent is available almost immediately. I did his quests as soon as they unlocked when you unlock side quests for each zone.
In the final zone, at the left of the fire terminal theres a few handrail. About half of them have missing hitbox, its kinda funny to play around it

There's a hole in Heritage Found around x: 12.9, y: 16.9 that you can't escape without flight. Found it by accident during the MSQ.

The eye movement thing was discussed during one of the LL but it was with NPCs. Also, there's a certain glaze to the eyes that makes you think 'yep, that's an eyeball'
Maybe not that crazy or interesting but in Tural city you can get onto the two little towers at the port entrance. If you jump up some of the boxes in the market you can get on the tent roofs. Then you can jump onto one of the shade cloths to get over to the towers.
Baby Mamool Ja's are my favourite thing about Dawntrail, they're so dang cute
it is kind of disappointing you have to do the plot points for that last zone before you get flight. But neat that there is a way around that for screenshot purposes.
I found a guy in a dumpster in Solution 9. Just saw him chilling while I did the trash collecting side quest haha

It's good for doing that, but a lot of dungeon mobs will be either completely immune to the status, or will be hit by the deluge of incoming damage, and any damage at all will wake them immediately. Since you've got stuns and interrupts available for most of these mobs anyway, Sleep is a niche and nearly pointless addition. However, the turtle is immune to stuns, making sleep the only way to interrupt it's stomp attack.

That Unlimited Jump in Solution 9 is absolutely going away. I cant find any sources myself strictly applying this philosophy to XIV, but I've read before that Japanese devs are real stickers for maintaining the "beleivaility" of their fictional worlds, and having them "flawless", which creates a pretty harsh anti-glitch perspective, no matter how benign or useless. Especially if it's something that has gained any degree of traction.
boonewa and hoobigo lore has been the highlight of the expansion for me. Just great to really see it fleshed out. Hoping to get the baby sooooon!

You didn't mention anything about the references to wanderer's palace hard mode or other things like that during the story that your character clearly reacts to. Or that one of the expert dungeons has the source's version of the Au Ra obsessed with the serpent on the first.

Cameos are a nice thought, but I imagine it's also unintentional. Considering how limited character creation can be. Not saying some are not real, but some might be just the same due to the limitations.

A major part of that was that everyone wanted to be remembered for the happy moments and turning on the lights again will definitely make it easier to remember the good then the bad

Its a story moment, but when Erenvale asks about his mom in heritage found and nobody knows her, you just pass it off.
But AFTER learning about the regulator and going to Living Memory and finding out the truth about her. Its a super smart bit of foreshadowing. They give you the fact that straight up, she is dead, front and center, but you just dont have the context to parse that out yet

Is it really a good homage when you place a character whose player died in solution 9? Cause all these characters with the regulators live off the souls of the dead members...meaning DoL's character was being sustained by other souls up until msq progression.
