Given that the ban was doctrine.. meaning it was a commandment of God, and for the church to now say God was wrong, they seriously need to take a look at who the god of Mormonism really is!.
The men couldn't deal with having black men be equals the same that men can't have women be equal. I'm not just talking some of the leaders, I think a lot of leaders would be ok with it, I think the regular male members would rather wither away then see themselves as equals to their wives an be other women.

When it was safe the Lord lifted the ban for blacks holding Priesthood many years ago. That was the only ban ever given to them they could be baptized or attend church and all other blessings. It was nothing to do with not being valiant or any curse.
You can’t change the origin story no matter how much they try to say it’s wrong now. If their religion was legit and God passed on this information to their founder then they can’t change the word of God to adapt to the times. This just proves how false the religion is. If they say it’s wrong it’s basically saying God wad wrong and man had to change it because of how racist it is. This sect is nothing but a cult and those who are apart of it I hope you open your eyes and realize the truth. Mormonism is an abomination in the eyes of God
All religions did the same, as the guy in the video said; no religion in US (and I add in the world) doesn't have a recist past. All religions are false and bad for humanity.
Yes, many religions in America did it and it was shameful. Venerable Augustus Tolton, one of the first Black Catholic priests in America had to go to seminary in Rome as no American seminaries woukd accept him. However, in Morminism, black men were prohibited from the priesthood dud to LDS Doctrine itself and not just backwards racist views in spite of what the religion teaches.
@@newstart1983 It's not about people in the religion being racist, its about the religion itself being inherently racist. For example, apparently mormonism has these racist ideas stemming from certain doctrines that are considered racist. Other religions like Catholicism, for example, have always promoted equality in their teachings/doctorines, even if certain members may not show it. There will always be bad people apart of a certain group, that's why we gotta look at the literal things the group directly teaches, and not simply the participants
@Ruth Mitt Your 1st comment was silly assuming I wrote they would turn black when I meant they would get a sun burn. Your other logic about Arabs is dumb because dark skin is associated to living close to the equator. And that's just one factor among others. South Indian and Africans are located near this region and hence are typically darker than Arabs. Lastly, you dont turn dark quickly. It's a gradual biological adaptation.
@@osiris8519 Where did the ancestors of the Arabs live? It was necessary to live a very long time in an area with large solar radiation without sheltering with the help of clothes from the sun, as the Arabs did.
That's what I've been thinking too, but still hard to understand overall when the scriptures states that all men are made equal, like unto God. Like was there a specific reason why God banned black people from receiving the priesthood and not being able to participate in temple ordinances? He loves EVERYONE, so why? Wish there was a day where we get all those scriptures back that were lost and such. To learn any extra details on the commandments we know so far pertaining to the gospel.
@BladerNation you guy call us " mormons" we NEVER did. If the " mormon" are bad because of our admitted mistakes. Then are ALL other Christians always wrong because of their errors. The truth doesn't change. If a church changes its teachings it's not the true church. Period. And if the people of a religion suddenly become smarter than their own scripture you know it was false all along.
You just described EVERY religion known. They've all changed with time as society adapts new standards. Unfortunately, it's usually religion that is late and slow to make the necessary changes that improve human existence, instead of the other way around. Almost as if religion is simply the archaic attempt of man trying to control others.
what exactly is "the true church"? considering there are over 30,000 different denominations of christianity in the US alone. oh know, there is no true church because no gods exist.
Any religion that seeks dehumanise an entire race of people is not one worth following. And the excuse that it was a product of its time and things are different now doesn't sound very morman to me at all. Your scriptures are false then?
The LDS church recently tried to do a sort of reparations ceremony marking the 40th anniversary of the lifting of the Mormon priesthood ban on Africans. Prior to 1978, Black Mormons couldn't get married in the LDS temples, get sealed to their families, or do the things that are required for members to gain entrance to the fictitious Celestial Kingdom. Rather than say that the ban was a mistake, First Councilor Dallin Oaks of the LDS church doubled-down on the priesthood restriction not having been a mistake, but instead tried to downplay the awful things that Mormon leaders said for 150 years as being unofficial, even though it was presented as official at the time. Here is what he said: "I observed the pain and frustration experienced by those who suffered these restrictions and those who criticized them and sought for reasons. I studied the reasons then being given and could not feel confirmation of the truth of any of them. As part of my prayerful study, I learned that, in general, the Lord rarely gives reasons for the commandments and directions He gives to His servants. I determined to be loyal to our prophetic leaders and to pray - as promised from the beginning of these restrictions - that the day would come when all would enjoy the blessings of priesthood and temple." In the book of Acts we learned "God has shown me that I should not call any man common or unclean." We are all accepted by Jesus when we accept His grace. There never was a divine curse or prohibition on the African in Christianity. African blooded people are not the seed of Cain as the LDS church told it's members forever, and many members still believe it.
i didn't think the bible had racism in it..just because a preacher in the past might have been racist doesn't mean the bible was.. however, the mormon book was specific,,how dare they make it worse by saying all religions did the same as they did..false!
Jay Harris Live Music Ezekiel 25:14 And I will lay my vengeance upon Edom by the hand of my people Israel: and they shall do in Edom according to mine anger and according to my fury; and they shall know my vengeance, saith the Lord GOD. Oh there is racism.
They believe that the black race people are descendants of Cain who was given a dark skin curse for killing Able but that was just the chanel for bringing the blacks to the earth who were "fence sitters" during a pre-earth life war between Jesus & Satan but then decided to follow Jesus. Reference Apostle Melvin J. Ballards talk "The Three Degrees of Glory" Ogden Utah, 1922. He also says that the races of today are largely reaping the consequences of a previous life.
Joseph Smith descended from Ephraim. Ephraim's mother was Asenath, an Egyptian. Joseph Smith is black and had no right to the priesthood. People need to read the Bible more.
They were wrong? REALLY!? But they say they are the only true church on Earth. How could they have possibly been wrong? Easy. False religion, false prophets (especially Joseph Smith) false revelation, false doctrine, false priesthood, and false authority.
Well...they think we’re some sort of cursed people or something lol. That’s literally in, or was in, their bible so...not surprised and will never approach that religion. 🤮
It's weird. In reality, they (whites) are the ones who can be in God's light (sun) to long without risking getting a sunburn or worse skin cancer, meanwhile blacks are protected by our dark skin (melanin).
Did he say "make reparations for those hurt along the way"? What the hell does he mean by that? We do offer reparations. The temple has accepted ordinations for all the blacks who were denied the priesthood while they were alive. Is _that_ what he means? The whole thing was part of a misunderstanding from the book of Abraham, where the Egyptian pharaoh was of that lineage by which he could not hold the priesthood. Brigham Young and other leaders of the church thought this meant the black race. Instead, it likely meant that the pharaoh couldn't hold the priesthood because he was not of the lineage of Abraham, nor was he schooled in the Hebrew religion. The restriction clearly went on too long, but once it became entrenched, it took a revelation to turn it around. To suggest reparations of a monetary nature is asinine as it would accomplish nothing. Also, it implies that the priesthood is a right. It's not. If the church had denied me the priesthood, I would still have had access to all the blessings and benefits of the gospel.

ENSIGN magazine article July 1978 --- revelation on priesthood: Every Faithful, Worthy Man in the Church May Now Receive the Priesthood The First Presidency announced, on June 9, a historic letter addressed to general and local officers of the Church throughout the world. The letter, dated June 8, reads: “Dear Brethren: As we have witnessed the expansion of the work of the Lord over the earth, we have been grateful that people of many nations have responded to the message of the restored gospel, and have joined the Church in ever-increasing numbers. This, in turn, has inspired us with a desire to extend to every worthy member of the Church all of the privileges and blessings which the gospel affords. Aware of the promises made by the prophets and presidents of the Church who have preceded us that at some time, in God’s eternal plan, all of our brethren who are worthy may receive the priesthood, and witnessing the faithfulness of those from whom the priesthood has been withheld, we have pleaded long and earnestly in behalf of these, our faithful brethren, spending many hours in the Upper Room of the Temple supplicating the Lord for divine guidance. He has heard our prayers, and by revelation has confirmed that the long-promised day has come when every faithful, worthy man in the Church may receive the holy priesthood, with power to exercise its divine authority, and enjoy with his loved ones every blessing that flows therefrom, including the blessings of the temple. Accordingly, all worthy male members of the Church may be ordained to the priesthood without regard for race or color. Priesthood leaders are instructed to follow the policy of carefully interviewing all candidates for ordination to either the Aaronic or the Melchizedek Priesthood to insure that they meet the established standards for worthiness. We declare with soberness that the Lord has now made known his will for the blessing of all his children throughout the earth who will hearken to the voice of his authorized servants, and prepare themselves to receive every blessing of the gospel. Sincerely yours, Spencer W. Kimball N. Eldon Tanner Marion G. Romney .
Can any. Mormon out there explain why they insist on the priesthood to be valid in today's world. Joseph Smith claimed that the priesthood was restored. In order to restore it must remain the same. In order to be a priest first you must be from the tribe of Levi, which I don't believe any mormon is, second he must be a son of Aaron again I don't believe any mormon is and last you must be between the ages of 30-50 . Here's something else where Joseph Smith was wrong Peter James and John were not sons of Aaron meaning they couldn't hold that position. As far as the Mormon Temple is considered it is there to do masonic rituals.
Francis Duran Capitalist invention? Sorry but you obviously don’t know the history. The Mormon church was one of the first to try communism (in essence) it was called consecration but it was basically same thing. No!!! The statement did not ever state that it was wring!!! The doctrine comes from scripture idiots! Read Mises 7:8! Read the first chapter of the Book of Abraham!! Read this statement from Joseph Smith: "The curse us not yet taken off the sons of Canasn, neither eill it be until it is affected by as great a power as caused it to come." The stupid essay by Dr. Revees is NOT church foctrine! Also, the only correct way to interpret the "disavow" that is eritten in his essay is the second meaning which us simply to wash ines hands if a matter and NIT necessarilt that it is untrue!!!
The church fid not state that the ban was wrong! It was a cleverly worded essay which used the word disavow which alsohas another mesning of simplyjust to wash ones hands of s matter! The ban was vslud church doctrine snd it is clearly stated in the books if Abraham snd Moses! Also, there was an official first presidency statement that proclaimed the ban as church foctrine and explained it in detail!! Also, many prophets and apistleshave confirmed the ban as true doctrine that eould require arevrlation from God to revoke it! Joseph Smith himself made this statement that Dr. Reeves and other ignorant fools choose to ignore"The curse is not yet taken off the sons of Canasn, neither will it be until it us affected by ss great a power as caused it to come."!!!!!!!
Yes. There is no other religion without a racist past but, the Mormon church claims to be led by prophets who will “never lead the members astray”. So, when they admit they were wrong, they are admitting that Brigham Young and all subsequent “prophets” up until 1978 were wrong and led the members astray. Prophets of a God who is all knowing, all loving and no respecter of men?? They discredit themselves as “God’s only true church”
Since the one drop rule was taught as being the mind and will of God (Jesus is the head of the Church) that means no descendant of Ham could hold the Priesthood until 1978. That includes Jesus Christ himself???
So was the Book Of Mormon written by man, and that's why it has a racist past or God finally realized racism is wrong by 1970? (2 Nephi 5:21) *truly God is above any error but goes to show man was the author of this falsehood
not only they couldn't hold the priesthood but they couldn't even open gatherings with prayer... thankfully the world is slowly but surely becoming agnostic and atheist. it's about time.
Doctrine was wrong, the heavenly father lied, You must repent from the sins that we told you were God's words. The prophet can never lead the church astray. When the prophet speaks ....
Islam doesn’t have a racist past. In fact Islam brought freedom to slaves at that time and in Prophet Muhammad’s last speech, he spread the message that no one is superior over another based on skin color or nationality. ❤️
Here is a question no one is asking. How long did it take for God to allow Israelite slaves to hold the priesthood? Moses was no slave but was a priest. Why did God consume with fire from heaven the men who attempted to force Moses to make them priests? The answer is that slaves and post slaves have a way to go before they are ready.

Josephs statements, prophecies, and edicts are for today; You cnat changes Josephs mind and doctrine. Why didn't someone tell them "WE ARE WRONG" you cant leave it to the PC LDS to clean up his mess.
Religion is not static. It is in its essence continuous and in fact there is nothing wrong at all with religions whose complementary tenets change with the exigencies of time and or adopts based on the progression of mankind. As a mormon, I wanted to clarify a few points. The priesthood is not, nor ever has been, a mark of status or success. The priesthood is a responsibility, a calling of service, and in many ways it is a burden. Members of the church who receive the priesthood DO consider it an honor, but only because it broadens their own ability to serve others. We believe the priesthood is essential to baptize, bless, bond marriage within the temple and so on. Those who receive the priesthood are often given callings such as bishop, counselor, and patriarch. These are callings that require a great deal of dedicated time with no pay. It is these callings that many misunderstand to be levels of status or something to be prideful of. Members of the church were not all an exception of racism that was all too prevalent in those days. Many members of the church were simply all too spiteful of the possibility of someone with darker skin being given one of these positions. When the church DID make those changes in 1978, many members STILL left because of their pride. There is no evidence that as long as Joseph Smith was alive the priesthood was denied to those of African descent. Personally, I suspect that some racist member destroyed any record of blacks being given the priesthood. Racism WAS the reason blacks were not permitted the priesthood in the beginning (After Joseph Smith's death), and it was racism that left the presidency hesitant to make those changes. Please, bare in mind that racism was rampant EVERYWHERE. Other churches opted for separation. The LDS church practiced integration long before it became law. People are and always have been imperfect.
Mormonism is a lie Jesus isn’t white and Mormonism came from freemasonry from Joseph Smith look it up and the book is written wrong Christ was never a Christian 😂 those are facts Mormons are liars and like to keep they’re status to be accepted in Utah and in they’re society those are facts they got you white pepper stupid Mormons 😂 look up history before you join a religion on a man who had a lot of wives god wouldn’t want that trust me

He.....he just....what the fu k. Did he just say "Mormonism was started by racists"? XDok, so he says Mormonism was started when there was a "racial divide." Correct, against black people. The church was created originally with a rule that discriminated against....black people. That means the church was on what side of that racial divide? XD he just admitted the church was created by a bunch of racists . Their reasoning is "oops, that's wasn't us, that was culture." So will they say the same about homosexuals? Maybe it's just the culture to hate people based on appearances and you should stop following a religion that promotes that ideology: Bigotry.
If you were wrong then what makes you think ypu are right about everything else. Why didn't God enlighten you with the fact all men and women are equal regardless skin color gender sexual orientation ect. Your prophets really didn't have much insight on the fact
Better late than never??? Just evidence of another man made false religion. And you still try to explain such things as bad judgement. I wonder what you'll say when you come to realized who we really are as a people???
It’s funny how you’re calling Mormons racist, when at the time everyone was racist? The members of church will never be perfect, but the religion as a whole will always be. In gods eyes all men regardless of race have always been capable of receiving the priesthood.
The issue here is that prophets who claimed to speak for God were spewing racism left and right when if they were really speaking for God/communicating with Him on a regular basis, He would have told them to stop spreading lies and misinformation. If God really does believe that all His children are equal, He would not for one second have allowed the men speaking for him to say otherwise, no matter what popular culture was like. God does not wait until something becomes socially acceptable to start commanding His followers to do the right thing. In fact, if you look at Christ's example, He was not afraid to say and do what was right, even though it was in exact opposition to the cultural norms. It makes all the sense in the world that God would command His mouthpiece/prophet to do the same. Even if the prophet had racist ideas, God would have corrected that prophet really fast. But that didn't happen. Racism wasn't removed from the teachings of church leaders until it was socially acceptable to do so. And even then it continued on for several years. Do you see the problem there? Why people are justifiably upset?
I'm assuming you are Mormon, so let me give you an example. Ether 2:14. God chews out the brother of Jarod, who was essentially the prophet for that group of people, for THREE hours because the brother of Jarod forgot to pray. If God chewed out the prophet for something as simple as forgetting to pray, you can bet your butt that God would royally chew out any of his prophets and apostles if they so much as entertained the idea of preaching that any of God's children were unequal to or less than others. He is COMPLETELY capable of correcting them. But it doesn't seem like He did, which then causes many people to wonder whether or not those prophets were really called of God and speaking His word. Do you see why people are upset? You don't have to agree with any of us, but I do hope this helps you understand where a lot of us are coming from.
@@texasfiddlegal247 I started looking in to this myself and desperately wanted to know why God would tell His prophets to ban all blacks or African descent to receive the priesthood or participate in temple ordinances.

You can’t change the origin story no matter how much they try to say it’s wrong now. If their religion was legit and God passed on this information to their founder then they can’t change the word of God to adapt to the times. This just proves how false the religion is.

From what I understand the blacks were not permitted to attain the priesthood of the church until the blacks were accepted in America.
That's what I've been thinking too, but still hard to understand overall when the scriptures states that all men are made equal, like unto God. “Oh I’m sorry I was wrong for stabbing you in the face, I hope we can move on now.”
Here is what he said:
"I observed the pain and frustration experienced by those who suffered these restrictions and those who criticized them and sought for reasons. I studied the reasons then being given and could not feel confirmation of the truth of any of them. As part of my prayerful study, I learned that, in general, the Lord rarely gives reasons for the commandments and directions He gives to His servants. I determined to be loyal to our prophetic leaders and to pray - as promised from the beginning of these restrictions - that the day would come when all would enjoy the blessings of priesthood and temple."
In the book of Acts we learned "God has shown me that I should not call any man common or unclean." We are all accepted by Jesus when we accept His grace. There never was a divine curse or prohibition on the African in Christianity. African blooded people are not the seed of Cain as the LDS church told it's members forever, and many members still believe it.

Here are some charming quotes from top Mormon leaders (the last two classics are from ex-president Hinckley):
"Cain slew his brother.... and the Lord put a mark upon him, which is the flat nose and black skin. Trace mankind down to after the flood, and then another curse is pronounced upon the same race - that they should be the 'servant of servants,' and they will be, until that curse is removed; and the Abolitionists cannot help it, nor in the least alter that decree. How long is that race to endure the dreadful curse that is upon them? That curse will remain upon them, and they never can hold the Priesthood or share in it until all the other descendants of Adam have received the promises and enjoyed the blessings of the Priesthood and the keys thereof. Until the last ones of the residue of Adam's children are brought up to that favorable position, the children of Cain cannot receive the first ordinances of the Priesthood. They were the first that were cursed, and they will be the last from whom the curse will be removed. When the residue of the family of Adam come up and receive their blessings, then the curse will be removed from the seed of Cain, and they will receive blessings in like proportion."
~Prophet Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses, v. 7, pp. 290-291
~~~
"Why are so many of the inhabitants of the earth cursed with a sin of blackness? It comes in consequence of their fathers rejecting the power of the Holy Priesthood, and the law of God. They will go down to death. And when all the rest of the children have received their blessings in the Holy Priesthood, then that curse will be removed from the seed of Cain, and they will then come up and possess the priesthood, and receive all the blessings which we now are entitled to. The volition of the creature is free; this is a law of their existence, and the Lord cannot violate his own law; were he to do that, he would cease to be God. He has placed life and death before his children, and it is for them to choose. If they choose life, they receive the blessings of life; if they chose death, they must abide the penalty. This is a law which has always existed from all eternity, and will continue to exist throughout all the eternities to come."
ENSIGN magazine article July 1978 --- revelation on priesthood:
Every Faithful, Worthy Man in the Church May Now Receive the Priesthood
The First Presidency announced, on June 9, a historic letter addressed to general and local officers of the Church throughout the world. The letter, dated June 8, reads:
“Dear Brethren:
As we have witnessed the expansion of the work of the Lord over the earth, we have been grateful that people of many nations have responded to the message of the restored gospel, and have joined the Church in ever-increasing numbers. This, in turn, has inspired us with a desire to extend to every worthy member of the Church all of the privileges and blessings which the gospel affords.
Aware of the promises made by the prophets and presidents of the Church who have preceded us that at some time, in God’s eternal plan, all of our brethren who are worthy may receive the priesthood, and witnessing the faithfulness of those from whom the priesthood has been withheld, we have pleaded long and earnestly in behalf of these, our faithful brethren, spending many hours in the Upper Room of the Temple supplicating the Lord for divine guidance.
He has heard our prayers, and by revelation has confirmed that the long-promised day has come when every faithful, worthy man in the Church may receive the holy priesthood, with power to exercise its divine authority, and enjoy with his loved ones every blessing that flows therefrom, including the blessings of the temple. Accordingly, all worthy male members of the Church may be ordained to the priesthood without regard for race or color. Priesthood leaders are instructed to follow the policy of carefully interviewing all candidates for ordination to either the Aaronic or the Melchizedek Priesthood to insure that they meet the established standards for worthiness.
We declare with soberness that the Lord has now made known his will for the blessing of all his children throughout the earth who will hearken to the voice of his authorized servants, and prepare themselves to receive every blessing of the gospel.
Sincerely yours,
Spencer W. Kimball
N. Eldon Tanner
As a mormon, I wanted to clarify a few points.
The priesthood is not, nor ever has been, a mark of status or success. The priesthood is a responsibility, a calling of service, and in many ways it is a burden. Members of the church who receive the priesthood DO consider it an honor, but only because it broadens their own ability to serve others. We believe the priesthood is essential to baptize, bless, bond marriage within the temple and so on.
Those who receive the priesthood are often given callings such as bishop, counselor, and patriarch. These are callings that require a great deal of dedicated time with no pay. It is these callings that many misunderstand to be levels of status or something to be prideful of.
Members of the church were not all an exception of racism that was all too prevalent in those days. Many members of the church were simply all too spiteful of the possibility of someone with darker skin being given one of these positions. When the church DID make those changes in 1978, many members STILL left because of their pride.
There is no evidence that as long as Joseph Smith was alive the priesthood was denied to those of African descent. Personally, I suspect that some racist member destroyed any record of blacks being given the priesthood. Racism WAS the reason blacks were not permitted the priesthood in the beginning (After Joseph Smith's death), and it was racism that left the presidency hesitant to make those changes.
Please, bare in mind that racism was rampant EVERYWHERE. Other churches opted for separation. The LDS church practiced integration long before it became law.
People are and always have been imperfect.
I actually did bring home a black man once. Everyone was very accepting.
Consider THE BOOK OF LAMECH OF CAIN.
Exactly
Better late than never??? Just evidence of another man made false religion. And you still try to explain such things as bad judgement. I wonder what you'll say when you come to realized who we really are as a people???
It’s funny how you’re calling Mormons racist, when at the time everyone was racist? The members of church will never be perfect, but the religion as a whole will always be. In gods eyes all men regardless of race have always been capable of receiving the priesthood.
But the Mormon church said otherwise.
The issue here is that prophets who claimed to speak for God were spewing racism left and right when if they were really speaking for God/communicating with Him on a regular basis, He would have told them to stop spreading lies and misinformation. If God really does believe that all His children are equal, He would not for one second have allowed the men speaking for him to say otherwise, no matter what popular culture was like. God does not wait until something becomes socially acceptable to start commanding His followers to do the right thing. In fact, if you look at Christ's example, He was not afraid to say and do what was right, even though it was in exact opposition to the cultural norms. It makes all the sense in the world that God would command His mouthpiece/prophet to do the same. Even if the prophet had racist ideas, God would have corrected that prophet really fast. But that didn't happen. Racism wasn't removed from the teachings of church leaders until it was socially acceptable to do so. And even then it continued on for several years. Do you see the problem there? Why people are justifiably upset?
I'm assuming you are Mormon, so let me give you an example. Ether 2:14. God chews out the brother of Jarod, who was essentially the prophet for that group of people, for THREE hours because the brother of Jarod forgot to pray. If God chewed out the prophet for something as simple as forgetting to pray, you can bet your butt that God would royally chew out any of his prophets and apostles if they so much as entertained the idea of preaching that any of God's children were unequal to or less than others. He is COMPLETELY capable of correcting them. But it doesn't seem like He did, which then causes many people to wonder whether or not those prophets were really called of God and speaking His word. Do you see why people are upset? You don't have to agree with any of us, but I do hope this helps you understand where a lot of us are coming from.
@@texasfiddlegal247 I started looking in to this myself and desperately wanted to know why God would tell His prophets to ban all blacks or African descent to receive the priesthood or participate in temple ordinances.
if you're a mormon you sure as hell don't know anything of your religion which is always the case with most christians. half of you people don't read or know your own damn claims and history of your particular christianity let alone your scripture.
Genesis 5:10
Wow...as an LDS guy, I really appreciated how they weren't attacking the church and had nonjudgmental feed back :)
Soni S: Here are some charming quotes from top Mormon leaders (the last two classics are from ex-president Hinckley):
"Cain slew his brother.... and the Lord put a mark upon him, which is the flat nose and black skin. Trace mankind down to after the flood, and then another curse is pronounced upon the same race - that they should be the 'servant of servants,' and they will be, until that curse is removed; and the Abolitionists cannot help it, nor in the least alter that decree. How long is that race to endure the dreadful curse that is upon them? That curse will remain upon them, and they never can hold the Priesthood or share in it until all the other descendants of Adam have received the promises and enjoyed the blessings of the Priesthood and the keys thereof. Until the last ones of the residue of Adam's children are brought up to that favorable position, the children of Cain cannot receive the first ordinances of the Priesthood. They were the first that were cursed, and they will be the last from whom the curse will be removed. When the residue of the family of Adam come up and receive their blessings, then the curse will be removed from the seed of Cain, and they will receive blessings in like proportion."
~Prophet Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses, v. 7, pp. 290-291
"Why are so many of the inhabitants of the earth cursed with a sin of blackness? It comes in consequence of their fathers rejecting the power of the Holy Priesthood, and the law of God. They will go down to death. And when all the rest of the children have received their blessings in the Holy Priesthood, then that curse will be removed from the seed of Cain, and they will then come up and possess the priesthood, and receive all the blessings which we now are entitled to. The volition of the creature is free; this is a law of their existence, and the Lord cannot violate his own law; were he to do that, he would cease to be God. He has placed life and death before his children, and it is for them to choose. If they choose life, they receive the blessings of life; if they chose death, they must abide the penalty. This is a law which has always existed from all eternity, and will continue to exist throughout all the eternities to come."
~Prophet Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses, v. 11, p. 272
"For instance, the descendants of Cain cannot cast off their skin of blackness, at once, and immediately, although every should of them should repent.... Cain and his posterity must wear the mark which God put upon them; and his white friends may wash the race of Cain with fuller's soap every day, they cannot wash away God's mark."
~Prophet John Taylor, Millennial Star, v. 14, p. 418
~~~
"It is true that the negro race is barred from holding the Priesthood, and this has always been the case. The Prophet Joseph Smith taught this doctrine, and it was made known to him, although we know of no such statement in any revelation in the Doctrine and Covenants, Book of Mormon, or the Bible."
~Prophet Joseph Fielding Smith, The Improvement Era, v. 27, n. 6, p. 565
~~~
"Negroes in this life are denied the priesthood; under no circumstances can they hold this delegation of authority from the Almighty. The gospel message of salvation is not carried affirmatively to them.... Negroes are not equal with other races where the receipt of certain spiritual blessings are concerned."
~Apostle Bruce R. McConkie, Mormon Doctrine, p. 477, 1958
"It's [LDS racism] behind us. Look, that's behind us. Don't worry about those little flicks of history."
~Prophet Gordon B. Hinckley, 60 Minutes Interview with Mike Wallace on CBS-TV, following the sudden change of policy in the LDS church, allowing black men to be priests (at the very time the church was being chased by the government for its racist stand and taxes !!).
"I don't see anything further that we need to do. I don't hear any complaint from our black brethren and sisters. I hear only appreciation and gratitude wherever I go."
~Prophet Gordon B. Hinckley, "Mormon Leader Defends Race Relations," Los Angeles Times, September 12, 1998 (NINETEEN-NINETY-EIGHT !!)
