This is terrific! Thank you. I just ordered an expensive double ended tunisian crochet hook to try something like this in the round, but see now I really didn't need it. I'm using this stitch pattern to make a beanie, scarf, mittens, and a small backpack for my toddler neice...all in 3 shades of purple with white trim. Looking forward to it. Thank you.
This is brilliant! Thank you so much.. been playing with Tunisian for a while but 1st time flat Tunisian I’ve seen.. the only thing I change was to gather the top while yarn still attached and crochet the seam together inside out .. 😀 wish could get that yarn down here tho 🇦🇺 💖🌈🐻
Just made this pattern, very pleased with it. As I am a beginner with TC I had a few glitches especially on the right side - had these terrible loop. I could sen you a picture but not sure where to send to. Going to try another one and try to be more careful. Thanks for super pattern!!
Thank you so very very much for the English version of the hat! When you do the tutorials in another language could you/would you give the stitch multiple of the pattern in English please. I really like your tutorials in English or not! Thank you for sharing your ART with us!
This is a very nice looking & easy to make Tunisian hat! Definitely going to use this pattern. The color yarn you chose is a great idea cuz it stands out beautifully!! Thank you for your tutorial!!
This hat is absolutely gorgeous! The color combinations are endless! I would love to make one with a cream color instead of black and maybe a variation of mauve or rose colors. I've never crocheted in this method before but you made it look easy, except I would probably forget when to skip the front or end stitch lol.
Hi! I made this hat and it’s so easy- thanks for the pattern! The band is slightly loose around my head compared to the rest of the hat- how would I fix this in a future hat?
Thank you for making a video that I could follow and actually understand! New to this craft and your videos are wonderful! Off to order new hook and cord.
I love the look of this hat, and even though I have been crocheting for many years I'm new to this type of crochet. Can you tell me why you skip stitches at the beginning or end of the rows? Thanks I'm looking forward to making one of these.
Hi thanks for the lovely tutorial! I'm loving the pattern so far. If I'm using this pattern to make an oversized slouch hat rather than a beanie would you recommend reducing it towards the top before I seal up the hole? :)
Hello! This is lovely. The black yarn is a little hard to see... On the first tunisian row - are you basically pulling up at the end of each row? I did this, but found the ribbing was loose, and the tunisian narrower. Wondering if I should have pulled up more loops?
I am new to learning Tunisian crochet and I was wondering what the reason is for alternating skipping either the first space or the last space when working the rows. Can someone explain the reasoning for this? May have been explained in the video and I may have missed it but any help is greatly appreciated thank you very much :-)
By alternating the colors you get the alternating rows of the variegated yarn and black to make the woven look. The pattern of.colir would be different and not as striking, the last part of my comment is personal opinion 😉
You can't see that black when your doing a demo. It's a pretty hat but it'll be prettier if you used lighter yarn.that half double crochet would show up more too
May ask why you yoin the hat on the right side instead of the wrong one? By the way I love the tutorial, also if you did it in round how would you join the end chains together? Thank u.
This is a beautiful hat I’m having a problem Once I finish the black band and start adding the color it tightens up and will no longer stretches to go around my head. Do I need to make the band longer or am I doing something wrong to take away the stretch when I add the color? Your help would be most appreciated
I had the same problem and I fixed it by adding more chains on top of the band. So one chain on the ''ridge'' and two chain in between the ridges. Hope it makes sense! As long as they are spaced apart evenly in between it will still look like the video.
I have the same problem, it doesn’t come out as stretchy. I agree with Alexandra, use more loops. Also next time I want to work a little more loosely than usual.
There is such a thing as an extended return pass, which makes Tunisian crochet more stretchy. Essentially what you do is add an extra chain for each return pass. That is, chain 1, pull yarn through next two loops, then chain 1 again, then pull yarn through two loops, etc. You must chain 1 before each time you pull through the two loops. This is an extended return pass and will make your Tunisian crochet fabric more stretchy.
Beautiful hat and enjoyed your explanation. However, when watching video tutorials, dark yarn makes it difficult to actually see the definition of the stitches.
My work when you lay it down. At the left side(where you start) comes in to the left, as if my stitches are becoming less but my right side are normal. What am I doing wrong - I am working into the border stitch.
That's why i'm afraid to begin this because I don't understand why skip last stitch. And I LOVE this hat and want to make it using many different colors such as white shiny yarn instead of the black and then light pastels instead of these brighter colors. And I also wanna make this exact colors one also. Maybe she can help explain why we skip last stitch and first sometimes.
@@ClaireNicole33 we skip the last space because we worked into the first space when starting the forward row, the first space is usually skipped since that stitch technically gets worked in the previous return row, but being attached to regular crochet instead of a foundation row makes this a little different!
Oh also! It alternates between skipping first space + working last space, with working first space + skipping last space. I think this is to do with the way it lets the different yarns show through each other, but I could be wrong!
@@LilKitLen THANK YOU for helping♡ I understand better but still don't know why others are coming short on one side. I'll make swatches and figure it out 🧣🧦😍❤🎄
I enjoyed your video but I would have like seeing the hat on someone’s head or a fake head to see how well the shape ended. But as before I did like your video and will be looking for more. Thank you
I love the way you explain how to do things on your videos, thanks! I wanted to know what interchangeably hook you are using? I looked it up in the link you provided but it is not in English. Do you think you could provide that information in English.
LOVE THIS PATTERN♡!! BUT Why skip first and last space alternating? I see a lot of people in the comments having trouble with one side being shorter. I love this hat and I want to make it but don't understand why others are having difficulty and WHY SKIP THOSE FIRST AND LAST STITCHES? That's all I want to know♡. Thank you. IF ANYONE CAN ANSWER IT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED❤❤❤
I think it is because the pattern is intended to produce alternating vertical lines. It is called the Tunisian Alternating Full Stitch and is well suited for using two colors of yarn.Lots of us forget which row we're on and end up counting stitches on each forward pass. You could try not alternating the rows and see if you like the effect.
I tried this and it was so easy. Thank you, but i do have a question, once I put the hat together, the body of the hat is really tight..did I do something wrong?? It's so tight I cant even put it on..😞
Tunisian crochet has no stretch. You need to pull up more beginning stitches onto your hook in the first beginning row after your brim than the video suggests. In fact a better idea is after finishing the brim do a row of one single crochet in one stitch followed by two single crochets in the next. Repeat to end of row. I think you will then end up with enough stitches to then start the Tunisian part in the next row. The body of the hat is bigger than the brim, but that’s what you want, as the brim will stretch, but the body won’t. Hope that helps.
I love this hat however I am having the same problem as others. The left side is straight the right side curves inward. I have seen a lot of people ask the question and it has yet to be answered. Please someone help I love this pattern and have started over several times and it still keeps doing it.
I just asked as well under another comment but it was an older one, I didn't realize there were newer ones. I want to make this using these colors and also another one using white as the main color and pastels as the regular colors. But i'm afraid to start bc i'm seeing others having problems. I don't understand why skip the first stitch sometimes and why skip the last stitch other times. I'll make swatches without skipping Any stitches and see what I get. Lol I guess since no one answers on the channel🤷🏼♀️
Help! I ripped the whole thing out, looked beautiful but sizing is an issue too tight at the tunisian crochet area. 22 inch brim but not correct when adding the tunisian crochet. I need more advice to adjust when adding the tunisian crochet.
I know how to do Tunisian crochet simply stitch. I do not understand the part where we are skipping the stitches in the beginning and end of some rows. Can someone p,ease help
You can't see what you're doing because you're yarn is black like why didn't you do it in white or a lighter color where you can see it it's very disappointing you can't see anything that😢
Lovely hat. Thanks for posting this pattern. I think I can tackle Tunisian stitch now. The only thing I would recommend is that you watch the rhythm of your speech. I find it annoying that your voice rises at the end of every sentence, even when your sentence is just one word, your inflection rises. This is what people do often when they are bored with instructing others. I think you'll sound more inviting if you monitor your voice inflection.

The size of your band determines how big you want the hat to be. I did 50 for my head.

Sometimes I see that some people make the ribbing part: sc, BLO, sc, instead of just BLO. Is there any difference? A cleaner edge? Less stretchy?
How would I go about making this slouchy? Just add more length to the brim and to the top of the hat?
Yeah! I'm making one I think I'm going to measure up to 12 inches including the brim.
I should be starting mine in a few days! I’m waiting for my Tunisian hooks to come in the mail.
How do we know how long it is multiple of what nos thanks
Would this be about 1 ball of each?
How much do I need to crochet for the rim if I use fine yarn
how many sts do we pick up onto the rib for body of hat?
I was wondering if there's a way to tighten up the brim. It looks quite loose. Any suggestions?
I did a double brim and used single crochet and worked perfectly for this hat
