It’s $2400 for a 20 watt mini head and 1 speaker. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Are you guys high? It sounds literally NOTHING like Jakes rig. At all. Period. Not close. End of story. Wake up.🤣👍🥃
We all should appreciate, love and respect Mister Jake E. Lee for his awesome playing in Ozzy and Badlands. But we also give a big shout out to his current band Red Dragon Cartel. Because they are awesome, too. 🤘🤘
It's a gorgeous amp - and reviewed very well. The flexibility and options on the amp are very interesting - and very nice playing and explanations, Don.
I saw, and heard, Jake play this set up with RDC in Detroit right before the COVID pandemic. It was incredible. Much better than anyone else who ever tried to fill his shoes.
After EVH and Rhoads, you had an ocean filled with shredders trying to outgun one another and a ton of them lacked any creativity and just sounded like clones of eachother. Jake was not one of those guys. He could obviously shred with the best of them, but he had a flare to his playing that was totally unique and with his own tone. I always found him instantly recognizable . While Rhoads has always been my favorite Ozzy guitar player, I will say there are a few songs and solos (ie BATM) that stacks up to anything Randy did, and that's saying a lot when I have RR in my top 3 favorite players ever. The fact that Jake stole the Ozzy gig right out from under another monster player in George Lynch tells you all you need to know. He's also a very versatile player too. I think his songwriting ability eclipses most of these "virtuoso" players out there who made a their living doing the instrumental thing. Jake is in nobody's shadow when it comes to the guitar. He's his own entity.
Jake E Lee is a great and unique guitarist. I hope Friedman sells a ton of these and Jake makes some cash. Great playing and the sound of the amp makes me want to pick up a guitar and play. I think Jake throws all his effects in front, at least that’s what he does in the 100 watt demo he did I believe for Premiere Guitar. Really nice sounds at the end, Don!
Jake E. Lee is a monster player. I respect his playing and style. Jake has a great tone and his Charvel is a sick instrument. When it’s time to move to a louder amp for my Grandson, I’m going to show him this amp. It is as great as Jake’s playing.

7:25 - The Direct Out sound is actually much better sounding to my ears … maybe something got lost in the mic mix ?? This is actually how I expected this amp to sound … much better using the direct out… and if that represents more accurately the tones of the amp, then yes, it actually is decent sounding 👍🏻
I agree, not the best recording job. Sounded muffled or a “blanket over the cab” sound. I could tell it should sounds awesome but we shouldn’t have to imagine it. Once the saturation switch was engaged it started coming to life. Also didn’t even know there was a presence control until the playing was over.
He lives in Vegas. It is unclear if he's going to do any more stuff. He's kind of an enigma. I guess he has plenty of money or he'd be out on the road and doing the grind or auctioning stuff off.
I just ordered mine the other day from SW. So far they seem to be cool. The guy on the phone was very helpful and knew things I was talking about. There is a bit of a wait which is basically everywhere, but I I was approved for a card and I’ll get a text when my amp is at the fed ex or whatever. I opted for that instead of leaving it on my porch. I might get the blue Burst guitar too. Haven’t decided yet. For now I play the 20 watt JJ Combo at any size show and it rules. But I’m looking forward to the JEL, and no reason not to keep both. Main reason I got the JEL probably is because of channel 1.
Sounds really nice! But I have never been happy with EL 84 tubes. Whenever I tried to buy a low wattage amp like this with EL 84 s it ended going back and exchanged.
Love Don Carr Videos, he have great taste for Guitar tones , plays awesome and showcases great the Products!..I want Don to pick up my next Guitar ..if he is at Sweetwater
Wow...I'm strangely underwhelmed by how "Loose" this amp sounds. To this day I'm trying to figure out what wattage (or tubes for that matter) does to the tone of an amp, but the 100 watt sounds tighter to me than this. To my ears this sounds VERY similar to Marshalls SC-20, which I don't really care for. It could be that with the gain dialed back a bit, this will get tigher, and more percussive. But, so far the king of the lower wattage Marshall-esq amps is still the SL-30 (particuarly the pushed crunch channel), or even the Fireball 25. I hope to hear a really good demo of this amp with the lower gain, pushed plexi/crunch tones. Don loosely hit up on it at the 6:00 mark. Not really my thing (so far), but a great demo, none-the-less!
I guess it’s the way of things but I wish amp companies wouldn’t bother putting in Direct outs/sims in the amp. They’re often so limited in selection that the odds of the extra expense being useful are very slim. Would much rather have a cheaper tone machine and I’ll choose if I want to bother with direct with other devices, that will at least have more options.
I think for the majority of folks who will be using this, it'll do what they're looking for. Having both the load and the DI built in is very convenient. If people weren't using them or didn't want them, Dave wouldn't put them in.
Friedman's stuff is assembled by Boutique Amps Distribution. They do stuff (not everything for some) for Wampler, Bogner, Diesel, ToneKing, Morgan, Egnater and Soldano as well.
