- 2013 was a different time for Minecraft videos. Every redstone idea I had, I built and posted, and I didn't even think about if it was actually useful or interesting. In this video I am going to be Reacting to my old Minecraft videos, reacting to my old Minecraft builds, and remaking my old school Minecraft redstone builds. Minecraft 1.17 includes a bunch of new features that make redstone easier, and thus should make these builds better.

honestly, you often say 'I want this in my base' but rarely do put any of these in your bases! You need a hermitcraft episode once you've built your base strictly to add some of these genuinely fun and interesting additions in!

I was really hoping Mumbo would use a calibrated skulk sensor to activate the fire wall at some point. Would make for a great effect!
I think other than the cauldron one which was ahead of it's time the rest mostly suffered from UA-cam. Your channel was much smaller back then and the contraptions were not things people ever though to search for on their own. That said I think a few of them might not be pants but perhaps they are shorts instead.

I love this idea. Updating old red stone builds to a modern design is fantastic, even if I can’t build them exactly the same on bedrock. It at least gives me the idea and the basic workings of the systems.
I can totally see the fire pit thing being used as a fancy form of lighting. Wire that baby up to a daylight sensor and you can make it light up in the night and be put out in the day.

Mumbo should totally make a meeting room using some of the designs in this video. I can already imagine the hermits walking into an empty room and then Mumbo coming down from the ceiling on a water blade as the walls light up with fire pits.

It can be difficult to position a piston correctly when you accidentally break one inside of a build. Paired up with observers that are also directional and you might end up removing an entire segment as a chain reaction just to replace them correctly.

The first firepit combined with the wall sequence (the firepit being the last in the sequence at the end of a hallway) would make for [probably] a very wonderful entrance animation to a base.
The safe water drop was really cool. Imagine having a sky base and using those to drop out of it. 10/10 no pants.

For what it's worth, these little "random" contraptions are a lot more useful than walking houses or complicated combination locks. I really do love these little bits of redstone that add detail and a little intricacy to your base.

You gave a 7 to the cauldron storage which is probably the most useful (lava farm), but a 8 to the minecart thing? Lol.
The lava cauldron storage is actually really useful because you wouldn't have to worry about needing coal for your furnaces ever again. Lava can smelt up to 100 items.
#1 is an easy 10. The cauldron one is actually pretty useful for automatic water damage/ fire removal. each extinguish counts as a single layer and the dripstone can refill the cauldrons as they cycle around. Ray built a trap with that and armour stands... basically the player could escape the trap with fire aspect, until he added the cauldron cycler. It might be better on bedrock, since they have potions in cauldrons so you could cycle for portion effects and have the leftover cauldrons refill via the dripstone glitch.
Hermitcraft needs Mumbos Pants Warehouse. Make the fanciest warehouse build with all these (new and updated) redstone contraptions adding to it

Automatic Fireplace - I'm gonna be honest, it isn't entirely the most practical thing. But the extinguishing is incredibly satisfying - 7/10
Minecart Catcher - It solves a problem I've never had or wanted a solution for - 4/10
Fire Lighting - I don't really see a reason to not just keep it on constantly once you showed it off for the first time, but that first time is extremely cool - 8/10
Cauldron Storage - I actually happen to like the roughness of exposed redstone, I think it makes me look far more intelligent than I actually am with the redstone constantly visible, and I can't exactly flex my iron or redstone skills when my friends come over and see a single cauldron in my room. Even with the ability to cycle them, it is still useless - 2/10
Surfing Safe Drop - I'm installing this in my base as we speak - 12/10

Took me a bit of tweaking but I’ve now got the Fancy Fire Lighting design from 5:58 in the video working in my Xbox redstone world, I will be incorporating it into my future builds, thanks for the idea Mumbo!
Only downside is that they now need a two block space between them, the difference between Bedrock redstone behaviour and Java redstone behaviour is really annoying. 😭

Imagine setting up skulk sensors set up for those fire starters as you are walking up to the base.
Man imagine setting up a skulk sensor under that water droplet dropper so that it sent down a pillar of water when, and _only_ when by using a closer skulk sensor on OR sensor, you were below it. Or possibly whenever you shot a sensor. Either or you know?
Redstone Firepit - 7. Not practical, but cool looking. Might use in a base at some point.
Minecart Catcher - old version maybe a 2 at best, new version... 4? Better, but not really something I'd use, a bit too overcomplicated vs a chest of minecarts, a powered rail, and a button
Fire Lighting - 8.5. I really like building dungeon-like builds and will probably use this in one someday.
Cauldron Storage - 7.5, decent for dripstone as you mentioned, but also I typically play modded and the mod Amendments lets you mix potions in cauldrons so I could have an assortment of mixed potions available in it
Surfing Safe Drop - 5. Couldn't see using it myself but it's fun
The fire lighting is honestly really cool. Would LOVE one of those in my base.
For the "surfing safe drop" Mumbo should make one in last life, but make it where there is a way to turn it off after you go through it. Then when he is Boogeyman, he could tell someone he wants to show them something, go down the safe drop and be like "isn't this cool??" Turn it off, and then when the other person tries to go through it, they fall to their death
If they die to fall damage, the bogeyman isn’t in cured. He would have to take them down to very low health and then kill them. (It would work though, if he was in red)

i havent fully read up on 1.19 but from what i understand theres new redstone blocks and of them some potentially sense vibration/players, if im understanding all that correctly then for some of these like the fire displays having it automatically open/close as you run by would be incredibly cool vs old lever designs

By bringing attention to the least popular videos, Mumbo is bringing attention to those videos, causing other videos to become less popular, starting the cycle for Mumbo to constantly remake older contraptions

Redstone Fire Pit: 8/10 Good looking, compact, tiny bit functional
Minecart Catcher: 6/10 Decent looking, functional
Transforming Fire Wall: 9/10 _Very_ good looking, compact, pretty functional
Cauldron Storage: 8/10 Simple looking, very functional
Water Surfing Elevator Thing (idk): 6/10 Simple looking, kind of functional
Put that retracting fire right after your huge waterfall door, so as you swoop into the cave, the doors close behind you, it's totally dark for 2 seconds, then the fires light up in sequence.
That sounds so badass.

I can actually see a few functional uses for turning on/off the fire pit. If that pit was designed as a place to burn mobs to death and then collect the resources, with a few modifications the on/off option could be used to toggle the farm as manual or fully AFK. I would love to see what Mumbo could do with that mechanic in any mob farm, actually.

You could just put hoppers beneath the fires and it will pull all drops through after killing the mobs. That's how many 'cat filters' on Bedrock iron farms work.

The fire pit should be connected to a daylight sensor. The fire is lit at night and is put out at dawn.
Build 3 could actually use skulk sensors in a hallway so as you walk down the lights turn on. It would make some cool replay footage. This could solve my issue of sucking at redstone

The cauldron system is actually really useful on multi-player servers like I'm on that has bugs. One of those bugs is I cannot fill glass bottles with water unless I use a cauldron...

Number 5: water blades will never not be cool, I only wish it was thinner, but to do that you would probably need to use leaf blocks and wood so you could use game ticks rather than Redstone and be more precise, still would only be marginally better and a lot more work. overall, prty cool. 7

Fire pit: Although inefficient when it comes to executing someone, it’s still a very ceremonious way to do so. 5/10
Cauldron Cycler: Yeah, it was absolutely useless back in the day, but god damn is it helpful nowadays, even if it is less efficient than just lining them up for quick access. 9/10
Water dropper: It’s very creative, but not that necessary when we have Magma elevators, and it doesn’t look that appealing in comparison. 3/10
