I’m not Catholic, but my wife is a devout Catholic. And many years ago after I began listening to Protestant teacher’s attack the Catholic Church, it instigated some arguments with my Wife, with me repeating what I had heard for why her faith was actually an occult, and as you can imagine it caused some problems in our marriage.
The long and the short is I decided I needed to inform myself first hand for official Catholic doctrine, so I could prove it to her. And so I discovered more about the catholic faith than I had originally intended. I’m old now and that was many years ago, and I can offer this. No matter what the subject matter, whether it be political disagreements, spiritual disagreements, no matter what the disagreement, etc. If anyone is truly searching for truth, I think the first question someone should ask themselves is, Am I honestly & sincerely looking for truth, or have I already made up my mind for what I want to believe, and so I will only look for information that will help validate the truth I prefer.
How ever someone answers that question , with as much integrity that as they can muster, should reveal to someone, who really wants to know, just how much integrity they really do have, or only what they thought they had.
I would assume that most people have noticed the type of society we live in these days, where we have two differing categories of people. People who do not want their comfortable narratives challenged, no matter how solid the challenging evidence might be, and where statistics and factual evidence are not important, or even necessary, because what is of most importance, is that we should demand that people respect our personal truth. And then there’s a another category of people, people who will look at all of the evidence, not just one side of an argument, because they are truly interested in trying to find out what’s true, even if the truth hurts. And so which category are you truly in ? If you dare to know.
And I’ve discovered something else in these latter days, it’s not true that old age brings wisdom, although it should, but seldom does. And the longer someone has believed something that’s not true, it’s very difficult for them to change their mind, and no matter how solid and how convincing the challenging evidence. And so it’s very difficult to become a person of wisdom and integrity, if you have circled the Sun more times than most being a close minded unteachable fool.
Although with God all things are possible, and so it’s not completely hopeless, if you had a shadow of some wisdom, that told you to go to him.
Martin Luther founded the protestant "religion" not Jesus christ, its a man made religion
After all this time of checking out yr wife's Catholic faith, hv yr eyes not been opened at the breaking of the bread?
My coworker was raised Catholic, but fell away... after dabbling in new age for a period, she became a “reformed Bible believer”... very much against Catholicism. She is always posting on Facebook quotes from MacArthur. I can’t help but wonder, why she needs to read his ideas and interpretations if the “bible alone” is sufficient. Why even have a minister... what can a minister offer that scripture can’t???
Exactly!
John Macarthur is a very good informer and intelligent man. Not many Catholic Theologians could hold a candle to his brilliance and knowledge of Scripture. He's a wonderful minister of the Word of God..Too bad a lot of the RCC masses of people couldn't get him to oversee their bible studies. I guarantee they throw those Catechisms away Yeah its too bad but God warned the people, but they just won't listen.
@@vickiesutherland4628 he also has many other churches like a ( pope) , very rich man ,one minister mention he was worth about $100,000,000 and more .
Look up who Eileen Grey is, you’ll lose all respect for MacArthur.
He is a wolf.
@@vickiesutherland4628 that may be true, but knowledge of scripture and intelligence are not qualifiers of authority.
I’ve had Protestants tell me “just study scripture… don’t follow the Catholic Church” my first thought is, “thank you Jesus for giving me a church with the authority to teach!”because if it were left up to my intellect and ability to effectively study scripture, I’d have no chance. There are many brilliant people who use their intelligence and charisma to manipulate and deceive others.
Other Protestants tell me “all you need is faith.” I respond, “cool, I have faith.” Then, I’m told my faith isn’t a “saving faith.” So essentially, I do have to merit my salvation by studying and correctly choosing the correct “saving faith” 😂 the mental gymnastics leaves me exhausted.
The chance that all these reformed bible believing Christians all studied and came to the same conclusion as MacArthur seems highly unlikely. Especially since you all claim him to be the best theologian ever. What’s more likely, is that this man influenced countless people to interpret scripture the way he does. So he’s like a pope or bishop, but without apostolic succession.
Sad thing is, Protestants would prefer to stick to their false accusations against us Catholics even after we've corrected them about what we do and believe. Let's pray for them
Agreed! Only through Prayer, may their eyes be opened Fully.

@Son You spread a lie!! Prove what you say
@Son of Elohim Do mean the Gnostics or the Essenes?
I actually started looking into Catholicism in late 2017 because my two favorite preachers at that time (RC Sproul and John MacArthur) couldn’t even agree on something so important as infant baptism; RC Sproul was for it and MacArthur was against it. This caused so much stress and confusion in me, I just couldn’t wrap my head around the fact that two of the most biblical intellectual and intelligent pastors couldn’t see eye to eye on that matter, AND they both had strong arguments off of the SAME Bible. Anyway, somewhere in between it all I rediscovered my Catholic Faith which even though I was baptized in as a baby, I fully condemned and hated all throughout my 20s. Thankfully through God’s grace I am in the process of being in full communion with the Church (I did my confirmation last month, had my son baptized and will be having my marriage blessed soon). Btw, sadly RC Sproul passed away in 2017. I can say that even though I don’t agree with his theology, ultimately it was what pushed me back to Rome Sweet Home 🙏🏼.
Amazing!! We must continue to pray that others find there way
@@marshallcampbell125definitely! Keeping our separated brothers and sisters in our prayers for their conversion is a must. God bless.
Your story gives me hope that my daughter (who got all the sacraments) will find her way home too. She turns 30 next month. Please pray for Alicia.
Welcome back home!
So you rejected the Gospel and went to the Synagogue of Satan because you wanted Rome to tell you everything in what to believe instead of the Bible itself. Riiighht. Seems like you never even listened to what either man preached.
Praying the Rosary makes us much closer to Jesus
@@TriciaRP Rosary is the life story of Jesus from angels annunciation to the resurrection. It's all in the bible
@Trisha: Yes, every mystery of the Rosary is found in Sacred Scripture.
@@TriciaRP the rosary is a walk through the scriptures of Jesus’s life, death and resurrection. It’s a meditation on it all. We do for the constant reminder of what it is all about. We also use it to pray for others. Do you even know what the prayers are? Likely not. It’s funny you mention disagreements among Protestants when I’ve heard a prominent RC priest, frequently on TV, admit Catholics worship Mary - did he get a nasty letter from the bishop? Even the Catechism (#971) says Marian devotion, while distinct from adoration, is “intrinsic to Christian worship” - can you see how it can get confusing?
Yes, this is because the english language is shallow garbage.
The church uses different terms for the 3 types of "worship", of which only one truely is worship.
Latria is the worship to god, it is distinct from dulia (for the saints) and hyperdulia ( for mary)
It is confusing because english is a horribly unsophisticated language. The greeks had 5 terms for different kinds of love, english has one
Benny Hing once preach and he was telling the gathering that the Catholic Christian receiveing the body there is a healing and we church don't do we must start doing that we hop churches but Catholic Christian don't hop churches
You're criticizing an interview, not a book or debate. You also misrepresented MacArthur as a Presbyterian.
In St. Matthew 16:18 Jesus tells Peter the gates of hell will not prevail against His Church.
So, in effect, those who form new churches are claiming the Jesus is a false prophet ... a rather dangerous road to travel.
Jesus' Church is built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets with Jesus as the capstone. It should not be too difficult to find the Church with unbroken apostolic succession?

Oh, dear. This is so silly.
Where did the Bible come from? - please do your research.
But you don't care what the Bible says. It means nothing to you Catholics.
Another ill informed statement! The Bible is the highest level of truth for Catholics.
" You know the ones that lie about Mary, that said there is a purgatory." How is Mary connected to purgatory?
Purgatory is a no brainer. Are you without sin when you die? I think not. Nothing imperfect can enter heaven ... so what happens between your sinful life and entering heave? A time of purification: purgatory. This is not above your pay grade, is it?
"The ones that said the Holy Spirit quit when the Bible was made." Where did this non-sense come from?
" While priests are making sure the tithes are made others are seeing cancer-healed, hearts made whole, the blind see and deaf hear. But go ahead and trust in the church fathers that say it can't happen." It is a great pity you are not well informed. Priests offer sacrifices ... or at least that is what proper priests do.
Why don't you study exactly what the Church teaches and then comment by quoting exactly what is taught giving your RCC sources ... THAT is what true scholars do.
Peace and blessings.

Are you going to reply or not?
Or have you realized, respectfully, you are above your pay grade?

Sproul should talk to Catholic apologists like Scott Hahn, Patrick Madrid, Steve Ray, Brant Pitre, Taylor Marshall, Jimmy Akins, Trent Horn and Tim Staples, among others, and pick their brains on Catholic truths.
His broadsides and generalisations are pathetic and unintelligent and smack of ignorance.
Sproul and Protestants like him should have the humility to study what the Catholic apologists have to say on issues they are in opposition to the Catholic faith. It could be a learning experience for Sproul and his like-minded folk.
Many of the Catholic apologists mentioned in this comment are actually converts from Protestantism.
Problem is Sproul wants to be faithful to the theologians into which he was born at any cost, even at the cost of truth.
Openness and honesty are vital to come to the truth
The catholic church is right this pastor is just voicing his oppinion which sadly he's wrong .
These protestants they asks their pastors and friends and family to pray for them. Why they can’t ask and are afraid to asks Mary and the Saints to pray for them? Mary and the Saints they are in heaven praying face to face to God. Protestants are heresy.
Mary and the saints are filled with the Spirit; they are not dead, ugly, evil-looking, man-made objects. Like Abraham, Moses and Elijah, they are full of life and dwell with God in heaven (Matthew 17:3; Luke 2:38; John 5:45; John 8:56 & Heb. 12:1). The Catholic Church says we are to venerate...not worship...them as you might do with your earthly ancestors. But since they are filled with the Third Person of the Godhead, it still wouldn't be a sin if we did worship them because it is that special manifestation of the Holy Spirit in them that attracts us and provides the lines of communication. That's why it is called, "the communion of the saints." What Sproul doesn't understand is that Christ's resurrection overcame death and it's one kingdom in both heaven and earth.
So “afraid” of Christ that we can literally sit in his presence at Adoration and worship and pray to him.
There is no fear in love brother , true love casts out all fear .
The Father loves you .

Read the Catechism of the Catholic church. You will see how Catholic doctrine ties with the Whole Bible unlike proof-text Protestant doctrines. Keep at it!
bill prorok - I, too, have been a long-time Protestant, having been in the Church of Christ for 35 years of my adult life. I know my Bible very well. I completed the same journey you're on this year at Easter Vigil, and am overjoyed to share that I'm now Catholic.
I think you'll find that as your research goes on, the answers will become really clear -- they certainly did for me. So much of what we've heard about Catholicism our entire lives have come from other Protestants, and it doesn't take much reading of the Catechism (I was 1060 of those numbered paragraphs into it by my initiation) and those Catholic authors to see how inaccurately Catholicism has been portrayed in our churches. I think you'll discover, as I did, a faith that is more authentic, more ancient, more beautiful, and more powerful than anything Protestantism has to offer. May God bless you in your studies!
I was Church of Christ for 35 years, became Catholic at this year's Easter Vigil. I was raised by parents who didn't go to church and who hated Catholicism (and any other church that tried to exert authority in believers' lives, including my Church of Christ that I later joined as an adult), and I grew up strongly anti-Catholic as well. I wouldn't give Catholics 2 seconds of my time. In my Church of Christ years, all I ever heard were arguments like the ones you highlighted in this video -- arguments by fellow Protestants, many of whom never even went to a Mass themselves!
Thank God for good, strong Catholic teachers and apologeticists who are passionate about their faith and are gifted by God at making strong arguments for the Church. People like yourself, Steve Ray, Keith Nester, Bruce Sullivan, Bishop Barron, Karl Keating, and others. My turning point? The Eucharist. Any sincere Protestant will be forced to consider the rest of Catholicism, if only they can be fully convinced about the Eucharist. After I realized I'd been wrong in rejecting the real presence, I HAD to ask what else I had been wrong about -- and discovered what a shaky foundation Protestantism stands on as I did my research. Thank God for that! As I opened up, I felt God's presence in my life in ways I'd never experienced Him before, affirming my path ahead. Tears of joy were shed. The whole process wasn't smooth and it took over a year, but it's crystal clear now.
I'll be Catholic until the day I die.
Welcome to the Church.

Regarding intercession of saints: Jesus Himself says that God is not the God of the dead, but the living. That all those who are saints are actually truly alive with God in Heaven. The problem is, often Protestants will quote the Psalms (the dead cannot hear anything; it is the living who praise you) as proof that if we ask the saints for prayers that they fall on dead ears.
Also - Mass. When I taught Catechism, this is how I explained it (and how I explain it, period). Jesus' sacrifice on Calvary transcended space and time. St. John the Apostle and Evangelist considers the Last Supper, Death, and Resurrection as one event (which is why the Triduum Mass is actually one Mass in three acts - though the Liturgy of the Eucharist is celebrated twice and communion received three times, there is no dismissal on Holy Thursday night, no collect or dismissal on Good Friday, and the collect for the Easter Vigil occurs AFTER the 3-7 Old Testament readings). In the Mass, we are transported to the Last Supper, Crucifixion, and Resurrection of Jesus all at once. Jesus is not being re-sacrificed, WE are becoming witnesses of His One and Only True sacrifice and participating in it.
Never heard of the Mass put that way but that is something to really ponder..Thx for sharing
Listen carefully....the perfect triune God was perfectly pleased with Himself...He needed nothing...He had everything already and was Holy and filled with perfect love...filled with perfect Love because the trinity has 3 distinct persons within the one being of the Godhead and each of these individual persons loves the others completely ...this God is capable of perfect love since perfect love can only exist where two or more free individual souls chose to love each other without restriction and unconditionally....a unitary God like Allah is incapable of perfect love...allah would have to create someone who could love him back in order to have the attribute of perfect love...so allah is deficient and a false God....The trinity does not have this problem....Now God chose to create at some moment in his eternal existence he decides to create the creation we are currently within...the big bang...the sun earth solar system and Humans in His own image....He also creates paradise and the angels prior to creating Humans and the universe....and these heavenly beings had free will.....and they rebelled against God....and brought sin into the world through Adam and Eve....the important thing to remember here is that this holy and perfect God creates...and when he creates whatever is created...is less than Him...this is a crucial point...God decides to create (for whatever reason) and when He does the creation is in and of itself less than Him...and therefore open to the possibility of inequity and sin....All things in creation fall short of the Glory of God...angels....humans...all things....so from the very beginning of creation and before the initial act of creation by God He knew that at some point He and He alone would have to come into His creation in order to redeem it back to Himself...why...because sin would come as a natural consequence of free will and He knew this...but....He creates anyway...so He creates even knowing that the possibility of evil and sin would enter the creation...why...because being a created thing it is less that God and therefore open to the possibility of sin and evil....So while God is creating heaven and the universe the Word already knows ahead of time that He would be entering His creation at some point in Historical Time as a Human in order to redeem the entire creation back to Himself....Jesus knew this prior to the creation...and He and the Father and the Holy Spirit create anyway....there is a very special place for us in the mind of God ...angels and humans are very special and sanctified creatures to God....so much so that He sent His only son not to condemn the world but to save it......

The Roman Catholic Church claim that salvation is only possible through herself.
@@skyriver4787 there are no false teachings in the Catholic church
The fact that he keeps saying "Roman Catholic" only proves he has no idea what he is talking about [or even worse, he knows and is simply proving himself to be wicked by doing so]. There is no such thing as "Roman Catholic", it is [and has always been] only "Catholic", the Catholic Church, the extra "roman" adjective was invented by protestants [like himself] in the 17th century to demerit the one true church, trying to lower it to their level of "many churches" [instead of one, as Jesus wanted]. One thing that I have learned from debating non-Catholics on several forums and reading about conversions. When a Protestant converts to Catholicism it is usually because they did a deep study of Christianity and scripture and have found the fullness of Truth in the CC. They never bash the church they left behind. They appreciate what they learned in their Protestant Churches. However, when a Catholic leaves the Church, they have all sorts of vile rhetoric they spew and they spit out lies and false teachings they claim the CC taught them, i.e. Catholics worship Mary, Purgatory is a second chance, Catholics believe they are saved only by works, Catholics have idols in the churches and their homes. etc., etc. and spew all sorts of hatred towards the Church, BUT are now saved. As I have heard it said that a Catholic who is ignorant of his faith, will soon be a protestant.

Thank you so much
Thank you for your question. We don't necessarily need to pray to Mary or the Saints. And I pray to them, we mean ask them to pray and intercede for us Jesus. This is not necessarily needed, but we also don't necessarily need our friends and family on Earth to pray for us either. However, intercessory prayer is biblical. And while we go to the Father through Jesus daily, we also ask the Saints in heaven to pray for us on our behalf, just as we asked our friends and family on Earth to pray for us on our behalf. Is just funny to hear Macarthur saying that we depict God as very "tough and wrathful" if in their theology:
1. God only saves the elect and the non elect he sends to hell even if they don't have any choice to be regenerated and choose God.
2. He is fond of saying that the only thing we deserve is hell
3. Many Calvinist like him say that their God brought about the Holocaust. Not that he allowed it, but also that he has decreed and actively caused it.
4. His theology of the atonement says that the wrath of God was directed to Jesus Christ and that he was punished by all our sins. See for example this excerpt from the Institutes: "In order to interpose between us and God’s anger, and satisfy his righteous judgement, it was necessary that he should feel the weight of divine vengeance. Whence also it was necessary that he should engage, as it were, at close quarters with the powers of hell and the horrors of eternal death"...."that he bore in his soul the tortures of condemned and ruined man."
Catholic theology will reject all that because we believe in a true loving Father, which really is in stark contrast with the moral monster of the God of Calvinism.
Which God is the "wrathful" one Mr Macarthur?

I was a Protestant for many years, about a decade as an adult. I would go to as many as six different churches a week, I listened to thousands of podcasts of different Protestant pastors while I was at work. Most of what Protestant pastors preach is Protestant apologetics, basically propaganda. They give you half of a gospel, which is all about repentance. Your free to sin as long as you repent, but do very little in explaining how to overcome sin. They will also tell you why you need to be in their pew and not somewhere else. They willingly and willfully deny the sacramental life of the Church, because that’s how the battle is won.
Becoming Catholic scared the hell out of me, it practically paralyzed me to go to my first mass. I’m glad I did. The Eucharist is strong medicine and I really needed it.

Damn someone to hell for not believing? What does scripture say. The church does not have the same authority that God does.the church tries to be God and impose John 3:16 and John 3:36 to it's teachings. My last comment. If it’s any consolation, Bryan, those of us who are Protestants but don’t ascribe to a Calvinist soteriology have to deal with similar things from teachers such as Sproul and MacArthur. Sproul has made the comment in his book, “Willing to Believe: The Controversy over Free Will”, that Arminians are “barely” Christian (By the way, not all non-Calvinist Protestants are technically “Arminians,” though that term is often used colloquially as a catch-all for non-Calvinist Protestants). So, many of us in the Protestant world aren’t exempt from his ire, either.
What you saw in MacArthur’s clip is common for him. He likes to trivialize and present a caricature of positions he disagrees with.
In fact, it was the study of Calvinism and Calvinist teachings from the likes of Sproul, MacArthur, Piper, White, and Calvin, himself, that made me want to study the early church fathers for a greater perspective. This exposed me to the teachings of Eastern Orthodoxy, and eventually (and very reluctantly!) I started to read Catholic teachings, too. Though, by the time I started studying Catholicism, it was no so much to see the Catholic approach to Calvinist thought, as much as it was motivated by a growing realization that my understanding of the Catholic Church was largely incorrect.
So, the irony of it is, if I were to become Catholic, teachers like Sproul and MacArthur indirectly get credit for it!

Sometimes it seems what Catholics say they believe and what they practice are two different things.
No its not, youre just biased.
When you see a catholic bow before an altar, you think "idolatry!".
When you kneel in your room and say a prayer, by the same logic one may conclude that you are worshipping the wall.
Especially if you have a cross before which you kneel.
The intention matters.
I was raised Lutheran became Catholic at about 27 years old for 8 years. I found the Catholic Church to be so spiritually dead. Left that church and went to a Weslyan church. I found studying the Bible that truth is in there and not any organization. Its easy to read and understand, no interpretation or scholar necessary.
Unfortunately, we are sad to say that that is not accurate. If it was so easy to understand, all Protestant religions would agree. And yet, they all disagree with each other in every case even down to basic theology. Everyone claims they can read the Bible on their own, and everyone claims to be led by the Holy Spirit, and yet there are thousands of denominations and thousands of more non denomination. The holy spirit is not the author of that confusion because Jesus never told us to go by the Bible alone. Just because your church was spiritually dead, does not mean that the Catholic church is not true and was not started by Christ. Because it was. And it has the fullness of the truth. And remember, it's the same Catholic Church that gave you the Bible in the first place. The same Catholic Church that infallibly chose the books of the Bible and made the biblical Canon under the authority and inspiration of the Holy Spirit, the same Catholic Church that copy the Bible for over a thousand years so the world could have it. Only the church that Jesus started has the authority to interpret it with any finality. Just some things to think about. God bless.

In a sense, you are right. The problem is Sproul had a different gospel from the Church (he also had a different church). It begins with "the three solas," but extends farther than that, to other areas.
Ironically, though a Presbyterian, he probably did not hold to early reformed doctrines such as the salvific nature of baptism (including for infants), else he would not have felt comfortable with baptists, evangelicals, et al. BUT HE DID! Yup. He would overlook such things when speaking / lecturing to Evangelicals and Baptists of different stripes.
Praying to saints and Mary is just like asking for a help to pray to Our dear God...because Mary was the one who concieved Jesus Christ ..and so as a mother She is closed Her Son...so we ask for her intercession ..I am from the Philippines and proud to be Catholic 🙏😊
Seems like MacArthur spends most of his time preaching on how everyone else but him is doing Christianity wrong. Not interested
MacArthur is on the road to hell
I don´t live in the US but I want to help so I will buy you book.
Thank you and God bless you!
To MacArthur's comment, a loving God? Double predestination and limited atonement screams that God is hate, that He made you for no other purpose to damn you for His own glorification. Unless you're lucky enough to win a cosmic lottery in which case your rear end is covered, and then of course only because God punishes Nestorian Jesus in your place. So if you're 'saved' in Reformed theology then who is going to save you from God who is anything but loving.
What?
Thank you for defending the Faith.
No faith is needed to believe in something that is real, faith is a mental disorder that prevents those afflicted with it from discerning fact from fiction...
Superstitious Catholic - You comment is the opposite of true. We use faith all the time for things that are real. You have faith that your chair won't break. You have faith you won't drop dead. You have faith on the beginnings of the universe because you cannot prove them scientifically and never will be able to. Faith is the only option. Atheists have faith that the universe just made itself by nothing, from nothing, because of nothing, and for no reason whatsoever, it just happened by accident. That takes a lot of faith.
@@CatholicTruthOfficial Correct me if I'm wrong but the claim that the universe was created out of nothing as if by magic is made by the clergy, certainly not scientists. Science promotes the first law of thermodynamics, the conservation of matter and energy which states that everything that exists now has always existed in one form or another. Everything in in nature happens in cycles, why would the current cycle of expansion that began 13.7 billion years ago be the first..?
@@nonsuperstitiouscatholic6327 it depends on what scientists and what models of the universe you are talking about. You are correct that some scientists believe that everything is eternal. It just got here, no explanation. But there are many other scientists, including Stephen Hawking, who developed scientific theories for how everything could have come from nothing. So it's incorrect to say that science does not say we come from nothing. Science doesn't know how we got here, and could never answer that question for sure. We have a video on this topic.
@@nonsuperstitiouscatholic6327 also, your name is deceptive and deceiving. You are not a Catholic, or a really bad one, but are masquerading as a Catholic that you are not.
Regarding the Mass, I would look at paragraph 1367:
1367 The sacrifice of Christ and the sacrifice of the Eucharist are one single sacrifice: "The victim is one and the same: the same now offers through the ministry of priests, who then offered himself on the cross; only the manner of offering is different." "And since in this divine sacrifice which is celebrated in the Mass, the same Christ who offered himself once in a bloody manner on the altar of the cross is contained and is offered in an unbloody manner. . . this sacrifice is truly propitiatory."
First, Christ is not a "victim". Jesus went to the cross willingly and according to the Father's will to accomplish His plan of salvation. Jesus wasn't dragged to the cross...He carried the cross and offered Himself.
Second, stating "the manner of offering is different" and "is offered in an unbloody manner" sure sounds like a "different" sacrifice. But that's my opinion. Nonetheless, the "benefits" of Christ's sacrifice 2,000 years ago are present totally and fully to everyone who believes in Jesus, and is evidenced by the fact that Jesus is seated at the Right Hand of the Father. It is finished.
Thank you for the comment. Jesus is the victim because he was the Pascal lamb who is sacrificed for our sake. That it is offered in an unbloody sacrifice does not mean that it's a different sacrifice. It means that Jesus only dies once.He can't die again. So hes not going to shed his blood again because it was already shed once and for all people. But that sacrifice and merit is made present to us in and through the Eucharist among other ways.
@@CatholicTruthOfficial That's called double-speak. It's the same...but it's different. Regardless, why...what part of Jesus dying on the cross, being raised from the dead, and ascending into Heaven is insufficient? Why, since we are forgiven, that we need to continually ask God for forgiveness? Why ask the Father to accept a sacrifice that clearly was accepted 2,000 years ago?
Jesus's sacrifice and resurrection was not insufficient. It's just that your sins were not all forgiven in the future. He forgave and paid the price for all sins,. But he does not apply that to us all at once. When we come to him, He cuts off our past, forgives our sins and If gives us a new life.
However, we continue to sin, of course. And so we continue to need to be forgiven. And because of his once and for all sacrifice, we can find forgiveness anytime we need it, or anytime we fail to follow the commandments or obey him. We can always find forgiveness in him. But the myth that our future sins of already been erased is not a Christian teaching. And never has been.
@@CatholicTruthOfficial Wrong. Totally wrong.
The attitude that protestants have towards Mary is sinful. I would imagine it pisses God off seeing these fools talk down the holy mother.
John MacArthur and RC Sproul have actually helped me out a lot
They are both helping to ensure that I never become a Protestant
😅
@@bcalvert321 "Parrots repeating word for word what they are taught to say". You must be talking about people who listen to too many protestant false teachers
When prots lie about the saints and the church:
"And he opened his mouth unto blasphemies against God, to blaspheme his name, and his *tabernacle* , and *them that dwell in heaven* ."
Yep if you said to a protestant that you cannot blaspheme against the saints in heaven or God will punish you they'd say that's polytheistic 🤣
Thats great, I want to use that.....what Bible verse is it,?
The phrase has quotation marks so I assume it is a
Bible verse.
I respect R.C. Sproul. He's helped clarify some things about church history and I think he doesn't know better (though he's intelligent). He misses the Eucharist completely and the one thing I read in his book "Knowing Scripture" he writes that the Bible is *a fallible collection of infallible books* when contesting the Apocrypha (Deuterocanon) books in the Bible that Protestants reject. I really couldn't believe he wrote that considering most Protestants are Bible alone Christians. Completely ludicrous.
We, people, are the fallible part as the collectors of the infallible scriptures.
