- In this video, I show you what it takes to master the Arithmetic Reasoning section of the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB). Specifically, I work out some challenging problems from a full-length practice exam. CORRECTION(S):
The answer to question 19 should be "B." At the end of the problem, you should notice that I forgot to carry the "2." That said, the rest of the problem is correct.

The more I watch your videos, the more confident I feel about taking the asvab.
I think my problem is I overthink on how to set the problem up correctly
Thanks to GH, I got a 95 on the ASVAB. His videos helped me remember a lot of the concepts I forgot over the years. Many thanks!
#19 the answer should be B ?
You made a mistake.
Multiplying 18.4 * 3 = 55.2 if you round it up and 55.1 if you dont.
3 time 8 is 24. You carried 1 to the next number instead of two. Been trying to figure why my math was different from yours for almost two hours.
That is correct. I forgot to carry the "2." One of the hardest parts of the ASVAB is doing all of the arithmetic without making simple mistakes.
I stayed for a hour checking my math 😭 I thought I was tripping I even did the same multiplication on the calculator and on paper 4 times
@@beabenavidez2833 bruh i thought i was dumb for a second lol. the right ans is B
Dude. You’re the real MVP!! Because of your videos, I was able to increase my score of a 58 in the recruiters office to an 80 in the actual cat asvab.
Congrats on the big improvement, and thanks for the positive feedback! Good luck if you decide to join.
Hey bro how did you study for word knowledge ? And is everything on the test that he shows us ? For the math section?
Yo Trippy for the word knowledge section, I would study roots, prefixes, and suffixes. Also, just try to read everyday. You’ll definitely learn new words that way. For the math section, study ALL of the formulas. I guarantee you’ll see questions that require the formula. And for the arithmetic reasoning, do a lot of practice. And yes, the questions you see in this video will most likely be in the asvab. It’s just worded differently.
Shannon Taylor hey. I’ve only been watching Grammar Hero’s videos. Trust me, on every problem this guy will explain how he got the answer which is really helpful. I also used asvab apps on my phone. You can message me on ig @jasonsarceno
Jason Sarceno text my Instagram please @Ytnbea I need help thank you
Hey G, I’m new with your videos and a geometry only practice video for the asvab will help out a lot. Thank you so much man
Your website is better set up than most of the websites anywhere, THANK YOU!!
Thanks. I'm glad you like it.
Thank you, you videos are very helpful
thank you for doing this...they really help!
I’m learning so much thanks
I love your videos. They're very helpful
Thank you.
A big help thanks
Hi. For question 6 shouldn't the answer be A. i have noticed that you have given the time for each group but the question really ask to give the time for each soldier? There are 4 groups with 10 soldier in each, group will get 15 mins of tanning but each soldier will get 1.5mins right?
I noticed same! I think correct answer is A.
Right?! It said EACH soldier
So on #26 I did it a different way, when solving myself still got the right answer. Check it out so 1 in 1/2 = 0.5 so i just multiplied 35.80 by .5 and I got 17.9, then I divided 17.9 by 10 because of 10 packs in a carton, I got 1.79 then I just multiplied 1.79 by 3, my final answer was ($5.37). What do you think of this method?
do you have any videos on fraction word problems, and squares?
I am taking my ASVAB test sometime in November... Can you please tell me the best way to study your videos? I'm really aiming for a 62 or higher since the job I want requires exactly that score. But of course I would love to score higher... Please reply to me if you can!! It would mean the world.
Arithmetic Reasoning has been the hardest for me so far. I really hope I'm able to learn it
God is good!!!
Drake Aamold amen 🙏
Arithmetic reasoning is the toughest part of the asvab
Are these up to date questions
Thank you for this! I am trying to study and math is my hardest subject. Im trying my best on arithmetic and it's really hard cause I'm bad at word problems like with measurements mostly.
your not alone I am to and been studying for a while just want to passby now ugh keep the good faith as I am too
@@misha-ro7jj thank you ❤
@@lash1283 no problem hun I wish I had the support and help I need to nail this but we got this
misha45 me too am here to study I been taking practice test online been scoring around 40 so it’s passing for the Air Force but I want score higher tho
@@joeregulus49 yeah me to I go on thurs to meps im praying that I can get real high I like to study with some one tho seems easier
I take my test Monday and I was wondering would I be seeing the same questions on the test but worded differently
same method... but different numbers and different wording.
but you probably know that by now... how'd it go?
Hilmar Thor Durham but these questions are up to date right
How many would you say you have to get right just to get a decent score?
Because some practice tests are very easy and others are much harder, I would say you should be getting between 65 to 80% of the practice questions right to obtain a decent score.
on number 12 wouldnt 1/4 be converted into .25? Then you divide it by the number you added up?
i know this a year ago im sorry but like can i get a reply
I’m in the same boat. I got a completely different answer when I converted 1/4 into a decimal percentage.
For #5 shouldn’t the answer be d? Since it asked for only the number of consecutive days which was five not including the initial $2 payment.
Personally, I don't like that problem, and I really thought about skipping it. According to the answer key:
"(B) Subtract the first day’s breakfast charge from the total: $8.25 - $2 = $6.25. Then divide the remainder by $1.25 to determine the number of additional consecutive days the customer ate breakfast: . Add those five days to the first day the special was eaten to find out that the customer ate the breakfast special for six consecutive days."
@@GrammarHero It's really confusing!
Here in 2020 december trying to pass the asvab i wanna join so bad put im really bad in math like really really bad
Trying to do my best
#12 why didn’t you turn 1/4 into .25 ?
Tbh Juststop Imagine them like quarters. 4 quarters equal to 1 dollar right? So 1/4 would be the same as 25¢ out of 1 dollar, hopefully I make sense
Grammar hero
How do you know what operation to use when solving?? (Add, subtract, multiply, divide) can u go in depth and explain more how to solve?
pemdas ......
Parenthesis
Exponents
Multiplication
Division
Addition
Subtraction
Can someone help me a guy who understands the problem process but can't do multiplication division and fractions very well.
He has videos that cover fractions and you can also look up mometrix test preparations will help you as well , asvabtutor.com & the asvab mastery app but grammar hero has literally everything you need to know step by step just look through all of his videos :)
