Mastering the Arithmetic Reasoning Section of the ASVAB: Guided Practice (Challenging Questions)

- In this video, I show you what it takes to master the Arithmetic Reasoning section of the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB). Specifically, I work out some challenging problems from a full-length practice exam. After reviewing the video, I realized that I didn't explain the first question as clearly as I could have, and in light of that, I want to add this:
Let P represent Patricia's age, and let X represent her daughter's age.
We are told Patricia is 45, and she is 15 years older than twice her daughter's age.
So, we can say:
P = 45, also P = 2x + 15, and her daughter's age = x (unknown).
With this information, we can solve for x by setting 45 equal to 2x + 15, that is:
2x +15 = 45.
Once you solve for x, you will know how hold her daughter is.

Arithmetic reasoning is definitely my weakness
Mine as well. I took the practice ASVAB at my recruiters office, and did well on everything but arithmetic.

First of all thank you for videos!2 years ago i passed the AFQT test but before my shipping date my greencard expired!it will take 15-18 months to get it.when you passed 2 years in DEP program everything will expired and you have to go back from the beginning😤😤😤so now I need to study again.this videos is very accurate.most of this I remember are on the AFQT test so if you really want to pass the test just watch all the videos and you will get higher score!Godbless everyone and Goodluck!hoooyah!!!

The problem with the NASA minutes 42.37, you can divide 197 by 15 and get 13.13
Then you can multiply 13.13x60 =787.8 which is basically the same as 788.

Hey @GrammarHero @31:59 I don’t know if I’m correct or wrong. But it said the sum of Laura and patricia’s ages will be 42. So what I did was plug in the multiple choice questions to find Laura’s age and patricia’s age, then added their ages to 42. My answer was D. 28.
Math is not my strongest subject and I’m striving to join the armed forces, do you have more videos that can help better prepare me for the ASVAB? What formulas would be used, and how to understand what the question is asking?? Thanks

Just finished watching this!, hate to say it but those word problems are really my weakness.
If you practice enough, you'll eventually get a lot better at solving them.

Right now before all the corona thing happened if you have a high school diploma they accept a cat 4 score but if you have ged then you still need cat3b or higher.

28:20 thats weird tho, the balloon is 500 feet in the air, sergeant comes out across, it didn't say he was elevated just across 300 feet, balloon never changed its height shouldn't it still be 500 feet, i guess trying to use my common sense didn't work lmaooo. its like saying i'm 5'7 tall, someone across ask how tall am i? i'm still 5'7 whether they are next to me or across the room.
