Man watching the clips of you recording yourself in the beginning and seeing you make minor mistakes makes me realize I have wasted SO MUCH time being worried about the same and really need to keep recording myself to get over the fear and insecurity of recording myself. Thanks for sharing this - going to record myself right now.
I just started a 100 day challenge to post one video a day, and it’s so encouraging to hear about how others have gone through the same awkward stage that I’m currently in 😅 It’s so easy to feel like everyone on here is a pro from the get-go, but I think the truth is that so many of us aren’t that great at the start. But like anything, with consistency and practice we ultimately (and eventually) will improve 💥 Thanks for the awesome video!!
Man, im exactly the same as you. When i look back on my life and realise how long it takes me to make a decision, it infuriates me, whether that's deciding to start a drawing or painting or revaluating my choices in friends. It can take me years to realise how bad my life is im order to fix things. Keep up the grind brother.
Great video. I was doing some recording today and felt super awkward. I liked the advice of getting 1% better every time and staying consistent. Thank you!
Thanks for inspiring me dude! I am litteraly in that situation as i am not an english speaker trying to make some freaking youtube video in a funny accent!
I find your naturalness a lot more on this video than the Ali Abdaal yt course one i just watched before - which is much kore engaging to me. Even though that other video has better video quality, production and art, I would prefer to watch more videos like this where I feel you are showing more of yourself as a person. Also btw your accent sounds cool and the fact your intonation is more on one level just gives more emphasis and added curiousity when you *do* raise or lower your tone. I thought you might find that useful to know. Best wishes.
Great video. I did a 30 day challenge on recording myself, because I listened to a speech called The Strangest Secret by Earl Nightingale and in the speech he has a 30 day challenge so I just used the idea and put myself to a 30 day challenge to record myself. It worked for me, and I keep doing it. I try to record myself everyday, it's helped a lot. The tips in this video help a lot also. Thanks
You've got a great voice, love that accent, definitely an unfair advantage! Totally agree about the story telling, this is something I've been trying to work on :)
Thanks Jason! I’ll definitely do that as well in the next 30 days. I’ve also got the problem you mentioned with my accent and your first recordings seemed exactly like mine. So I hope I can also get where you are now!
I can literally feel everything you're talking about; I'm exactly where you are (or were, I suppose). And, I gotta tell ya, you're hilarious (and NOT speaking through a smile actually helps with this) 🤣🤣🤣
Lots of great points you made in your video. I got over 50K subs on my channel and I still struggle through every one of my videos, so I end up doing a bunch of voice overs to fill the dead space where I struggled to put together a coherent sentence while recording my footage...
I love the learning clips, so funny. There is another guy that has a 30 day talking challenge on youtube. I have watched some of your older videos and some of your recent ones, you have improved but speed it up. JMO, buy the way what with the pear symbol on your computer and shirt. Making fun of apple? Larry
Great Job getting after it, you brought up some great points one that I know I need to work on is actually reviewing to get better. I have 45 days so far of recordings but I am horrible at review for the purpose of making changes to get better.
Aye Thanks Jason!! You got this, especially because of your name. Reviewing + consistently recording yourself is definitely the key for improving with this.
You killed me with "british airways mode". I'm in the same boat ! After recording myself for a few days, i guessed that using hands and getting the "amped up" me out gives out really more engaging stuff. But speaking non native english, with a weird french accent, i'm still relying heavily on a script. Im' currengly oscillating between the "british airways" mode and the "wayyy too pumped up too much cafeine" mode lol.
Sometimes it might be weird standing over the camera 🎥 but if plan to a UA-camr you have tell yourself that you have to be comfortable while recording yourself *I think would be a star point for everyone*
Great video! Thank you for sharing! I have a few "blocks" to film myself, which are, my hair has to be straightened, which takes like 30min and is hard to do when the weather is hot... Also I think I have to put on makeup and then take it off after, which is also 30min... I need to put on nice clothes... And worst of all, I need to be home alone, which only happens a couple times a week, because it's veryyyy awkward for my family to see me dressed up and talking to a camera, and I really don't like that feeling... Has anyone gone through similar blocks? I want to move out but idk how long that'll take
Please take my 1 tip: remove ALL those barriers. I've been in this exact position where I only wanted to record after getting a haircut; only when it's daylight etc... Fast forward to now, I just don't care as much as I realized it's the value you provide that truly counts; not the way you look on camera. Of course you want to be presentable BUT dont make it hinder you from recording videos. Speaking from experience, it will only set you back & take you longer. As for your family situation; I'd just tell them you're going to have a Zoom meeting or online presentation for something. There's no way they'll figure out you're recording yourself for youtube 😂
@@jasonves Wow thank you so much Jason!! It's pretty much what you said, I'm glad you can relate lol, I don't think I've seen anyone talking about this... Thank you for the tip, I also want to try the 30 days thing, so I believe I should make it important to record a video even when I don't think I look good or whatever barrier I create. And the family idea makes a lot of sense!! Haha, I might've kind of thought about this before, but it was hard to bring myself to do it with all those barriers... But with you saying it, I def want to try. Thank you!
Are you Dutch? You have a Dutch accent. My problem is that I don't know in which language I will make my channel. I live in France so it's should be logic to speak in French. Or in English as that is world wide language. Or in Dutch, which is my first language.

Same here. Thanks, Jason. Great work!
As a beginner youtube, can totally relate to this! You've come a long way already and thanks for sharing!

Facts, but you only get comfortable by doing it more often & making it a habit
Thank you for the inspiration 🤍
Very nice tx bro
