Hi kelvin I have just pulled my car down to the intake manifolds chasing oil puffing in exhaust. Found red oil under supercharger intecooler. Your video may have saved me an engine rebuild. As I have also been having powersteering low oil and airating issues. Just had p/steering pump rebuilt.
Thanks for this! Mine is snapped off on my JDM motor. Lexus wants $135USD for this little plastic valve! Exorbitant considering the pump costs about the same! The local Toyota dealer wants $113!
Hi Kelvin my car has a bullet super charger with intercooler and a Wolf ECU i was thinking I should just do an Idle up valve delete what is your suggestion? you mention you just place a ballbearing under the valve what size is the ball bearing? my car s an hour drive away.
Hey kelvin I’m having issues with a crank no start on a 2000 ls400 body with 1998 Engine harness and ecu. I programmed it and made a the fob now I’m just crank no start with a b1261 body code
G'day Kelvin! My steering wheel has always been heavy, and it doesn't return to center through a turn. I just replaced the PS pump with a brand new Toyota pump, and also replaced the lines, after flushing the rack good. Steering is still heavy and no wheel return through a turn. Could it be that the rack needs rebuilding? No weeping from her yet; no noises. Many Thanks!
UZZ32 are very rare. I was surprized recently by the local toyota dealer asking me for info as they couldnt find parts , they didnt even know about the UZZ32 being different , and I had an engine turn up on the back of a ute , again a UZZ32 engine.
@@CartuneNZ there are 2 UZZ 32's in NZ, In Australia there are about 20, i have a couple of them, and yes no parts available now for the Suspension etc. Only 851 were ever made by Toyota, there are about 200 left world wide in running condition.
Well that means I've been involved with both of the nz ones, and I've seen a few engines out of dismantles ones. I have a mate with an engine in the uk too.
wow you saved my bacon I just discovered the black plastic housing on mine detached from the cup bolt looking thing screwed in the PS pump,,I was holding thos two vacuum lines with the black plastic attached looking confused as to what it was after doing a 5 day starter replacement job...I am not a mechanic
I replaced my power steering pump on a ls400 98 model, but I didn't include the air hose.. Would it cause any damage with time ? Please I need your advice
So your saying blue smokes may also come out when this value is bad? Because before installing power steering pump it would smoke blue on start ups and disappear now that we broke that value while installing pump it smokes white like a train and blue as well. Is that why?
Thanks for the tutorial. I went searching for those o-rings on the plunger but am not finding them at the Lexus dealer. Would you happen to have a part number you could provide?
I think in stock vehicles its far easier to repair the nearly 30 year old pump which has possibly never been apart and it will give many ore years of service than to stuff around reinventing the wheel.
@@CartuneNZ Thanks. I'm thinking for swap purposes in a place a UZ was never intended to be and power steering didn't previously exist but generally I'd agree about not reinventing the wheel. Even though I guess engine swapping pretty mush is exactly that haha.
Not sure what I did wrong. I installed the air valve using no sealant and it leaks. Is it possible the there is a seal internally that is damaged in the pump itself? The old one was sweating oil at the threads
As this is a video on a powersteer repair, and you haven't said which oil I'll give the powersteer oil I use, which is often atf fluid, dextron 3 or type 4 or if the vehicle gets a hard time I use penrite power steer fluid. Cheers Kelvin
thanks for putting up these videos , lots of good Information thanks. can i ask you please what do you do in the case of a 1uz with a link g4 . can you use an electrical switch or something instead of this factory valve ? or can you remove this system is it necessary for a street car ? I'm doing a conversion now that this is a question mark on the list currently , not sure what way to go
If its manual, with link ecu I normally delete this idle up and with correct settings for the iac with a well tuned engine the ecu will compensate fast enough. If I'm running something with massive tyres where we also want very low idle speed we would fit a electrical switch and feed this to the ecu and adjust the power steer idle up setting in the link.
@@CartuneNZ Kelvin , thank you very much this is what I needed to know. yes its manual and I don't think the tires are what you'd call too large. but its a nice and light car so that should help somewhat : ) but I do like the idea of electrical switch, I think I have not used up all the inputs yet. . do you have a particular switch that you like to use when doing conversions ?
For a switch I look to some other models of toyota have a switch which screws in as a direct replacement for the stock air bleed valve. I think I have one laying around to check a part number off it.
Could be an ecu issue, tuning issue, air leaks, IAC function, sensor fault etc etc. I would recommend doing some testing to identify the issue. Cheers Kelvin
I use Toyodiy.com and lists fine. I believe his part fits all 1uz engines which have this valve and heaps of other Toyota models. There are other part numbers for this same valve. Cheers Kelvin
On my '94 the switch was deleted by the previous owner. He said he "did it right" .... Would there be a noticeable difference if I were to reinstall a new one?
Its a idle up valve for the powersteer so when the powersteer is operating the idle is increased slightly. I think its quite important for stock vehicles and swaps with autos.
@@CartuneNZ couldn't you just delete and Rev yourself? I'm afraid this thing is just gonna leak again I know how to block it off, just don't know what consequences come with it
Hi mate where can I get a powersteering velve from. I asked Toyota in newplymouth and there is none in the country for two weeks but said will cost $342 . I'm sure they are not that dare lol
Hey bro my LS400 think it’s a 1990 it’s reving high and not dropping what could it be, also can smell fuel, no leaks anywhere it’s like the choke is jammed on. Used to rev high but then when warm comes back down to normal now it just stays high, what could it be 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️choice one bro👍
Id recommend checking live data in ecu to confirm ecu is seeing correct engine temp, tps with both main tps and idle switch and other inputs are correct. Could be a few things so testing is the best way forward
Hello, my GS430 seems to have a leaky acv due to the last owner using incorrect fluids. I’m going to blank it off because winter is coming up and I won’t be driving the car much. What am I supposed to use to plug up the vacuum lines?

Thanks Kelvin, Awesome video, very helpful. I repaired one of the nozzles on my valve. will change it out soon. Thank you for sharing.
Glad it helped
Top job Kelvin! I'm about to rebuild my pump too and it definitely needs the valve!
Good idea. I much prefer to keep it where I can, especially on the auto swaps.
As always, informative tech!
Thanks.
Always a pleasure Kelvin.
Thanks Billy. This video is a topic thats discussed lots
Congratulations my friend! What is the function of this valve? How does it work? Is it to speed up the engine or soften the steering?
Great video! What is the ball bearing size you using to put in a valve to block ATF from going through?
Did you managed to find the answer for I am also about to blank mine off and would like to know the size of the bearing?

Hello. Can you tell me what this vacuum has to do with the hydraulic pump? Can this part be canceled?thanks😊
Is this the same for 1998 LS400?

U r awesome
My cap popped off from the bolt when changing a hose , should I stick it back on there with epoxy?
I'd be fitting a new one if I had that issue. Cheers Kelvin

There are no psrt numbers at the dealership as dealership only supply the complete valve assembly. For o-rings its a trip to an o-ring supplier.
Professional Kiwi UZ Wizard opinion on electric power steering? My 1992 SC400 had the hydro pump that leaked onto and killed the alternator.

Where do you recommend getting the pumps from
We generally rebuild then over here in NZ
Does it matter which hose is connected to which port on the valve?
No. Either way is fine.
I noticed a leak coming from that part, i replaced it, do you think i should replace the power steering pump/reservoir?
I never replace reservoir unless they are damaged. I do rebuild lots of PS pumps , which I prefer to replacement. cheers Kelvin
