@@punksnotdead5367 I looked it up and DAMN did they have issues. Personally, I don’t think you need to have nostalgia for this movie because of the focus they put on Jim and his father. Treasure Planets world building draws heavily from old sci-fi literature, and I mean *old,* hence the literal sailing ships across the aether filled outer space.

Animation ✅ Character designs✅ Characters? 6/10 Story ❌ well i will say atlantis story does hold up decently well , treasure planet gets by entirely on cool factor tho , the visuals are cool and so is the world but the story is an genuine snooze fest if youre not nostalgic for it
Me, an astronomy nerd trying not to list everything wrong with this scene: 12:55 Yes, they absolutely would, the black hole would stretch them into atomic spaghetti, and supernovas don’t become black holes so DAMN QUICKLY- Eden was a mood this whole time.
Funny thing was that this, alongside Prince of Egypt and Spirit, was among my favorire films growing up as a kid. I loved comedy goofy films a lot, but epic films like this grabbed me. In fact, this was the film that got me interested in space and Sci-Fi as a kid, alongside Star Wars. One thing I really love is the inventive fusion of modern Sci-Fi and Retrofuturism from the 1890's. Space essentially being a Sea of Aeherium (which, fun fact: was what the Ancient Egyptians thought space was. Basically a veritable sea of this substance known as Aether, the fifth elememt that filled the soace between planets and stars in the universe. Basically dark matter or void) being sailed by Victorian era galleons, fitted with rocket boosters and Solar Sails. Black holes formed by collapsing stars, acting like intense whirlpools in the sea. Large artificial moons made as port cities. It was so beautiful and inspiring that it felt like something you can only do in animation or even sci-fi.
This was one of the first films I ever watched as a child and still today every time I rewatch it is like the first time. One time I was zapping on disney plus and I had no idea what to watch so out of boredom I said: "Fuck it I gonna rewatch Treasure Planet" and I can safely say that it wasn't a bad evening at all.
As a Fatherless, Good Dinosaur was ass, Treasure Planet is GOATED. Also it's canon that the Doctor is the one who gave birth. Mpreg is canon to the worldbuilding.

i would agree it took risks , altho definitely cared about objections , should look up the production hell this movie had. Definitely not one of the best movies tho , animation here is BEAUTIFUL but the writing is so flat , if you dont have nostalgia glasses for it , it doesnt hold up at all
@@punksnotdead5367 I looked it up and DAMN did they have issues. Personally, I don’t think you need to have nostalgia for this movie because of the focus they put on Jim and his father. It may not be like this for everyone, but the whole idea of Jim finding a replacement for something he lost, and that being reflected with the Treasure Planet really strikes cords in a lot of people. It’s a great movie to help children cope with parents abandoning them, and I think that’s timeless
@@punksnotdead5367 I've rewatched it recently and the writing is so bad damm
@@punksnotdead5367 Sure, the comedy might not hold up, but the rest of the writing does. It's a bit dry, but not in a bad way.
@@punksnotdead5367I really don’t see why you dislike this movie so much. Sure it’s pretty imbalanced in a lot of ways but the world is neat and the characters are fun, even the characters besides Jim and silver who admittedly get like 95% of the movies focus.
This movie meant a lot to me as a kid because my dad wasn’t around much because of work, this movie means a lot to me and is so good it’s criminal that it’s so underrated
Oh wow the plushie is extended until June 2nd. Let’s check the date real quick….
This film has a setting and aesthetic so unique that it has never been copied. The premise alone is astonishing, and the charcter designs, phenomenal. How can one shit on this film?
Literally the only bad part of this movie is the robot near the end. It's such a beautiful movie with a cool style and heartfelt core. The daddy issues always get me.
It's june 6th why is a june 2nd plush being promoted 💪😭
They forgor
@@petermen_2005 no its cause this is from a stream from back in may
@@punksnotdead5367 yeah, but why include it in the video?
Now watch Atlantis and you will have watched the two best Disney movies that failed at the box-office
And they'll be bored like this
Kida is in Atlantis, so I doubt that
Title: "Is Treasure Planet an UNDERRATED GEM???"
Them: "Boring ahh movie. Where's the funny? Bitcoin, Bitcoin, Bitcoin."
Hey, they simply asked if the movie was an underatted gem. They didn't say what the answer was going to be.
Y'all really ripping into this movie way More than it deserves
Treasure planet & Atlantis are real underrated Disney gems ‼️
oh my god, can these bozos stop yapping and focus on the movie for five seconds?
This is the second time I am watching these guys and I will for sure not do it again. They are the epitome of stupid but hey that's what people like ı suppose
Silver's 3D arm animation still holds up over twenty years later.
Ok Let's see how Spilling the Milk ruins other childhood movie.
They didn't ruin it, they just didn't talk about it and then said it was bad ...
I have such a weakness for found father figures in movies and games, so all the interactions between Jim and Silver make me grin like crazy
Girl same. Sanji and Zeff are up there for me too.
The fact that this movie is more diverse in representation/topics than any big studio movie today really says something
Jim was one of the characters that made me realise I was gay even before I knew the word "gay"
Treasure Planets world building draws heavily from old sci-fi literature, and I mean *old,* hence the literal sailing ships across the aether filled outer space.
Captain Amelia should’ve gotten her own spinoff movie.
Just saying.
I’d love to see an origin story about her, how she became such a great leader!
Yes it's underrated. Doesn't matter that it's basically a cult classic that everyone agrees is amazing it's still underrated
I love this movie so much, I hate that they stopped making these types of movies. I love the animation style :(
This is one of my favorite Disney movies, most likely because of its steampunk, scifi aspect.
Literally the best song in the movie plays and they can't even watch the scenes without laughing. =_=
This movie and Atlantis are the most underrated Disney movies and it’s a shame that not many people appreciate their incredible animation, story, and characters
Animation ✅
Character designs✅
Characters? 6/10
Story ❌
well i will say atlantis story does hold up decently well , treasure planet gets by entirely on cool factor tho , the visuals are cool and so is the world but the story is an genuine snooze fest if youre not nostalgic for it
The synchronized "oh my god" at mini doppler just gave me very adorable, wholesome uncle vibes
I love that the CGI in this movie is literally better than all of the CGI in current movies
Me, an astronomy nerd trying not to list everything wrong with this scene: 12:55
Yes, they absolutely would, the black hole would stretch them into atomic spaghetti, and supernovas don’t become black holes so DAMN QUICKLY-
Eden was a mood this whole time.
"You need divorced parents to enjoy this movie."
That's crazy! 😭
Fun fact: there’s another treasure planet movie made in 1982 and in Bulgaria.
As a Fatherless, Good Dinosaur was ass, Treasure Planet is GOATED.
Also it's canon that the Doctor is the one who gave birth. Mpreg is canon to the worldbuilding.
WAIT WHEN DID THEY SAY THAT
I love the plushy still being announced although it’s the 6th 💀
Fun fact, Amelia, AKA the Captain and Doppler, are the same species
Aw my fiance watched this movie with me. He really related to the main character in a lot of ways. This movie means so much to him! ❤
The movie failed because Disney willingly sabatoged it. Bad marketing and pitting it up against Harry Potter and another Disney movie. It’s the saddest. Love this movie. That being said folks, maybe this channel isn’t the best way to experience it, or check out some people experiencing it for the first time.
I feel called out, my parents are divorced and I LOVE this movie… 😂💀
A true underrated masterpiece
ua-cam.com/video/97gFPknKjtQ/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared
Yes, yes it is. It’s a crime that the sequel was cancelled. It failed in the box office cause Disney didn’t market it at all.
One of Disney's experimental films alongside Atlantis: The Lost Empire.
John Silver is still my favorite Disney character of all time.
And of course he is also the coolest cyborg in all of fiction. Fight me! XD
Got to give the boys props for sticking to their guns and always being honest about how they feel while watching. If it's not for them, then it's not for them. 🤷♀ People should be allowed to have different taste.
5:18 This isn’t much of an exaggeration. I used to collect fidget spinners and that’s what it felt like when I spun them all at once.
nah can't stand the treasure planet slander
8:22 One of my Animation Teachers was the guy who animated Long John Silver's CGI robot arm, he is super nice.
not me pogging at the thumbnail 😭 i love this movie sm
IKRRRR
These three always manage to completely ruin my favourite movies for me, yet I come back to their channel time and time again. It's an irresistible masochistic type of thing ig
Treasure island is a film that was ahead of its time. Everything about its great. Ngl even as a kid i preferred the more underrated stuff, road to el dorado is another certified classic. Youve got atlantis as well. Also emporers new groove is my favourite disney film
Oh hell yeah!! This truly is an underrated movie and modern day Disney writers should take notes. Speaking of nostalgic Disney films, you guys should watch Dinosaur.
YYEESSSS , finally someone else knows the movie
I f*cking love Dinosaurs, one my favorite childhood films
Treasure Planet is genuinely one of my favorite animated films of all time! The directors had plans for a full-fledged TRILOGY and were already developing the sequel when the film was released, but was sadly cancelled due to its failure at the box office.
The amount of brain rot from crypto and TikTok in this vid is honestly more than concerning. Especially for an awesome movie like Treasure Planet.
This vid alone has made me lose faith in StM. Y’all tapped so much you couldn’t engage with the movie
Yeah like what is up with their energy in this vid? Almost all their jokes felt really off to me. And they were so dismissive of almost everything in this movie, it kinda bummed me out
Imagine not liking Treasure Planet
IKR
One of the few Disney movies that actually deserves the Live Action remake treatment, if only for exposing it to a wider audience.
Live action remake is coming soon
I would like to see a live action remake of the treasure planet and it would've been so much better than the live action remakes of their popular classic didney movies like the lion king live action remake.
@@vincenthoule5643 a live action version of kingdom of the sun (the original vision for emperors new groove) could work too
@@cookimaus1the same goes for the atlantis and the lost empire.
@@vincenthoule5643 its coming out this year , its been announced since like 2022
Yes, treasure planet is a Gem of a Film! Always loved the relationship between Jimbo and Silver!
Surprised people don’t like this movie it was one of my favorites as a kid
There’s a very good theory that Treasure Planet could be in the same universe as Star Wars
11:30 Treasure Planet is the only movie that includes its own AMV
Fun Fact: The narrator is also voiced by the diabolical Claude Frollo from another Disney classic film from the Disney renaissance: Hunchback of Notre Dame!
I have very vivid memories of Silver being my gay awakening as a child💀
My type still stands
Genuinely used to be my favorite movie of all time and it’s still my second favorite, grew up watching this and I love it so much
They made an entire reaction video just to promote their plushies. That's how popular it is.
And uploaded it after the plush is now unavailable, absolute chads
Captain Amelia, my beloved.
Also, the main song sounds *WAAAAY* better in Spanish
I know everyone's entitled to their opinions, but hearing them actively shit on this movie really drove home why i haven't bothered to subscribe to these guys :/
They're not the worst commentators but I really don't vibe with some of their takes
True, they also seem kinda weirdly unsettlingly to much of a woke gen Z idiots.I even remember one of them(asian guy) just out of no where saying that american AI will never be as good as chinese one,and that saying was long before american companies started to invest this much in AI,like what exactly is this dude bragin about in reactions just out of nowhere bringing such political statements. Also their attitude is just gross, they seem more like really annoying kids.
