It's free on Xbox 360 until the end of the month and it's backwards compatible for Xbox One right now.
This game is actually a blast. As an Arma veteran, I really love this game.
I like to call this game "Console Arma".
yep
+JUMBO DEUCE except its not fun
+Sabotage26 why is it not fun?
+Oasis World hard
lol this game is easy
at least on console its easy maybe on PC its harder but i completed it on my Xbox really fast
+Oasis World but the trick is to always stay alert and use your ai squadmates well
master leading them and they will be really helpfull
for example if you want them to take cover go and use the defend command where you want the to go
also use the supress order a lot it will pin down enemies and they will not be able to fire back
Why did I think this game was bad because I heard bad reviews about it? It looks pretty good, kind of what Battlefield should be like
It's not at all like the original Flashpoint.
If this game had a different name I might be kinder to it, buy ARMA or ARMA 2 instead. They are the true OFP sequels.
I enjoyed the long distance combat and wide-open maps. You could see enemy patrols for miles and mess with them in all sorts of ways.
That menu theme though 👌😍🎶
I remember trying this game as a kid and couldn't get into it, I think it was probably too serious for me at the time. Anyways, I picked this up last week for £1 and thought I'd give it a go, all I can say is what a game!
2021 anyone?
2024??
Just got it today. Any advice? Hoping it plays on my Series X
As a Arma series veteran, im picking this up for my Xbox One. It looks just as promising.
Ricky Orzel Did you like it man?
I like this game the graphics are good and the shooting is very nice. One thing I find important for shooter is the feel or vibration when you put a mag into a guys face. Granted in this game you only need 1. I know ARMA in some cases is better but this is the ARMA for consoles. I still enjoy it.
***** opinions
I have I've played both games.
This humble weekly sale though.....
ugghh its killing me, I think I might just get it
Andrew Simpson It looks really good though!
This is not like the original Flash Point.
Don't get the bundle for these games, they are far from worth it, even at $1.
*****
Me too, showdown looks surprisingly bad actually.
Quacktics are Go Definitely not, the new ones have the name. Literally, the original was sold to Bohemia Interactive, who renamed it Arma: Armed Assault, and they made sequels for it (Arma 2, the newly-released Arma 3) which are great. DayZ was actually originally an Arma 2 MOD, believe it or not! If you liked the original OFP, go check Arma out, that series is the true OFP.
While i do adore arma 2, and have over 100 hours logged into it, i have no idea why people are saying it's ai is better than operation flashpoint's. The ai in arma 2 and 3 is absolute unusable shit.
+Travie Chan Not so much in Arma 3 they fixed a lot of the Ai problems in Arma 3 and at least in Arma your team mates wont walk right in front of your gun.
im planning to get this .. playing on the x1 so if u want to play sometime hit me up on xbox one/360
It's free with gold in December
Gt: GermanPanzer19
VenomX7X
+TheDynamic Dylan good
Okay so we got a squad now..
this will always be my all time favorite game , it had and still has some issues every time i play it but overall , i could and do spend hours playing this at times .. love it
If I wanted that much realism I'd just go join the army.
Know how long it took me to complete this game on the hardest difficulty? Eighteen months.
Dude.
Humble Bundle, anyone?
It's nice to see an ounce of nuance in shooter games once in a while. Admittedly you are fighting against one of the typical war game enemies once again, but it is at least done to some extent in order to protect Russia.. Which is kind of rare in shooters about the US of A.
Funnily enough, the sequel to the original Operation Flashpoint (a REAL military simulator, sold to Bohemia Interactive) took place in Russia as well. Heh. And the maps are much bigger, too, and it's not even primarily an open-world game...
but it was for PC only
matheusgc02 BF4 and other games No, it also was on the original Xbox.
+Gaveroid oh
If you have it on PC, grab TemplarGFX's AI Mod. It makes the allied and enemy AI absolutely amazing.
This is the Dark Souls of fps games.
pfff you should've tried Operation flashpoint 1 or Arma.....
I really feel like tight squad control is a feature that's missing from shooters these days, like SW:Republic Commando, I miss this feature in modern shooters, I really really hope you can command the AI in Ghost Recon Wildlands because I know I'll play it solo and if my AI team can't operate stealthily I will be sick
it all depends on what setting you are playing on, On Realistic it can take 1 hour or more, and on hardcore it takes a lot longer.
@fononol no, its not, what he meant was that the 3 buddies you had in co-op, you can play with them in multiplayer as well
i really really like the ideas this game brings to the plate.
This game is fun when you get good at it. The action isn't like other games with constant explosions and crazy cinematic moments but is intense and nerve wracking.
This game was great, and Red River pretty much perfected it. The only thing Red River is missing was the scope of the levels in this in that you could go anywhere on the map during the mission. But that's really nothing when the missions themselves are so much better, being both more focused and more intense.
Thank you my friendly youtube viewer. You have made my day.
Do you like games were your health goes back up on its own over time after you get shot...WELL this is not the game for you because your health goes down over time when you get shot hahahac REALITY TACTICAL GAMES FOR EVER!!! (even know i play CoD/BF and so on :D)
As long as you can do the commands fast it's easy to keep them from firing and hiding. You can even have them heal you.
@RedRiverChannel I love how Gamespot gave Dragon Rising 7.5 and Red River a 6.0 and Dragon Rising is three years older than Red River
For those who like tactical shooters, ie Rainbow Sixm, SOCOM, that kind of thing this is ABSOLUTELY your game. I personally enjoy this game more than MW2 although I can see why people would lean the other way. The AI isn't as bad as they say, they are about as intelligent as the MW2 ones, okay a little less, but that's to compensate and make you use the whole command system more. I wish there was a take cover command though. But seriously, its fun.
I played this game when I was 10 . Oh good old memories
@Reviize9 people don't play it online tho it is still great to play with friends. You sould wait for Operation Flashpoint Red River, which is out later this month.
this game is honestly fun as hell if you have some friends and you actually play tactically
Kinda it's hard to hit someone because the bullets depending on the gun you have drop or go over the enemy. Once you get the hang of the distance though you can take them out one by one. Although if you get to close you die. So you have to shoot little dots.
This is the most realistic FPS out there. Going back to other comments, people that can't play really should go back to playing COD. I was in a Multi player game the other night and I kept getting team killed and the people that were doing it said "this game sucks, COD forever", then he "teabagged" me. I was like, WTF!
The servers to this aren't down. My friend and I played a few tdm matches a couple days ago. Found quite a few other players actually.
i agree with this review 100% i love dragon rising for it's realism, can't wait for red river
Brings back memories from wayyy back from 2010, decades ago that is lol
@skipwarcraft No its another Operation Falshpoint game. Its gonna be on stores this year I think.
I cleared this game on max difficulty , Was one of the most hardest shooters to clear
The spec opp in this game are better then online players for flaking
The best feature was the scope actually works in distant , Meaning you will have to calculate how far the target is to make a hit according to scope meters
The spec-ops are brutal, not only they move like foxes trough the tall grass, theyre more accurate than any other units
If you want full tactical action, it's a nice idea to either get Operation Flashpoint:Cold war Crisis or any of the armed assault titles.
I love you i love you dragon rising του 2009
This game is on the Games On Demand right now.
@daddywambat It's not just tactical... it's realistic. Not everything is lined up for you like a shooting gallery that is most FPS games. Not all the enemies will be in one place, they are spread out over a warzone in which they are trying to keep control of. Sure you have to run a lot but that didn't bother me. I can see it being bothersome if you get killed all the time and have to start back at the checkpoint 2 kilometres back. Weapons feel more realistic, one shot can kill you instantly.
@Koolzii You wouldnt finish this in two days. Even if you did you would stay entertained cus theres loads of ways to do the mission. In Hip Shot (love that mission) you can either take the squad and assualt from the front. Flank and let other teams distract for stealth, go it alone and leave youre squad where you spawn or flank them and shoot the generator from afar and finish the level without killing anyone.
Question: Have you ever Tried Operation Flashpoint the original? I have read other reviews that this game sucked mainly due to the developers splitting. Some went with Arma 2 and the others went with Dragon Rising. Man because I play CS 1.6 and Battlefield Bad Company 2...but Operation Flashpoint 1 was the most realistic game I've ever played. Hands down. I remember the cutscenes and story behind and it motivated me alot to play that hard ass game. It was so realistic.
ok...i was stuck on the 3rd mission for ages but now that i finally beat it i'm having a blast with this game
the more i play this game the more i begin to love it
People complain about the AI in this game but still think the original OFP was better?
The original OFP was amazing, granted, but was merely a fleshed out tech demo with really bad AI too, but even then you could find a way to have them actually help you.
It's the same with Dragon rising, when you understand the flaws in the AI, you start using them better and I'm now confident enough to make moves under THEIR cover instead of having them move under MY cover.
It was a long time since I played the game and I don't even have it anymore because I sold it but as I remember, you can order individual soldiers. Unfortunately I don't remember how, but I guess you will find out yourself if you test your way on the controls.
Skira is actually a real island it’s just called skira in the game but in real life it’s called kiska
Operation Flashpoint , MW2 , BF bad company 2
are some of the best FPS till now (well maybe not so much MW2)
Here in 2020
Same, and this game is still one of the best shooters I've ever played.
@jkdoorbinnia Good job for not whining like a halo fanboy towards my opinion towards halo. I played the game and the story and voice action was compelling but the gameplay left much to be desired. Now with operation flashpoint you have to know when to retreat or keep fighting, where the enemy is and where to flank the enemy. Its not like halo from my perspective where all the baddies are lined up for the slaughtering. In OFP the enemy are in various areas and will try very hard to defend an area
I love tatical shooters, Tom Clancey had some really good tactical shooters but now there all to easy, definantly gonna get this one.
I freaking Love this game . it feels so realistic
If you have a decent PC, I'd recommend getting its counterpart ArmA II. In my opinion ArmA II is more polished and it's A.I. are way more sophisticated in their battle sense, for example, they will immediately run for cover if they hear a gunshot and stop all activities. If you don't have a good enough PC for ArmA II, Dragon Rising is not much different, it's just a bit more smaller and less complex, Dragon Rising is pretty good overall.
You are right they don't use ArmA2 but it's based on a similar simulation program that the army uses only they can't make it exactly like the sim program. They might get into trouble for doing that.
The game is coming out for free for gold in a few days on xbox 360 with another game but I forgot
+QuackShack Sacred 3 and this one (December 16th)
The other game is Sacred 3 if you didn't see it. Kinda Diabo-ish but it looks good.
Logan Armstrong meh it doesnt look as good as dragon point but i will still get it
You are partially correct. But think about it. How many people say that MW2 will be better. People start noticing, and see how good it looks.
Autumn Sale on Steam, the whole franchise is 75 off, buy it while it lasts
Don't listen to that guy, it depends on if your a run up and shoot em up game because if u are, this really isn't the game for you. This game requires that you have good accuracy and that you are good in tactical situations. This really isn't your average shooter and it is a very amazing game if u are in to realism and you would like to know what it's like on the battlefield.
Multiplayer was amazing. Its just a shame no-one on xbox wanted to play it. This kind of thing makes me wish PC gaming was cheaper
Havent had any AI problems and for them to take cover, its best to tell them to defend a area. Best AI use
this game is one of the hardest games ive ever played... still tryin to complete on hardcore.
When your legs don't work like they used to before
Hit detection is major problem + other problems that need to be solved before BF4. And yes i agree all games have their favorite shooters.
Hey, I have just bought it for Xbox 360 but I don't have an account :( I'd really like to play this one with my friends but they don't seem to be the type that enjoy tactical shooters. Hey, I have a question, can you issue orders to individual soldiers in campagin mode? that 's keeping me intrigued, thanks in advance.
I love playing this game on hardcore. Also it takes longer than 45 minutes for a match more like two hours and helicopters are easy to fly. This game to me is fun and easy to me even on hardcore.
Think of this game as a friendlier version of ArmA to people new to the "war simulator" games.
Lot of depth, lot of fun. If you like this sort of game, definitely give Armed Assault (ArmA) 2 a shot. The original flashpoint was actually made by the guys that make ArmA games now.
Give it a go if you are sick of CoD's glaring stupidity.
Hopefully one day enough people will buy these games that they have enough funding to make them longer and fix all the bugs.
Went searching at GameStop for a good shooter to occupy me until Battlefield 4. Needless to say I found a very good one. This game is AWESOME.
This game looks very original and unique by all the gameplay videos and reviews. Today it is only $5 on Steam and I think i'm going to pick it up. My alienware M11x is coming tomorrow! Core i7 baby...yeah
its a real island but it isnt called skira. google maps. it one of the islands that seem to be chained in a line headed away from alaska to russia
I was saying: You serious! Super Humans?- What I meant by that, is how they regenerate health which doesn't make them humans at all, and I agree with how you hate Cod. I do too
never ever, ever call your rifle a GUN.
It is your weapon.
@DeathAdder83 its worth it
there is a mission editor on the pc version and there are 6 secret codes that unlock well 6 addtional missions
offers alot for 20 bucks i mean like mw2 for 60 bucks has less than half the content this game has
Picked this game up at Target for $5 in the clearance. Looking forward to seeing some more realistic shooter style.
This games fucking checkpoints and rescue missions tho. I ran 2 km, got teamkilled, did it again and got teamkilled AGAIN, then when I finally got to the LZ the godamn people I was rescuing decided to slowly walk down the mountain and a tank waltzed on in and blew everyone up
People still play this game
I don't know why people always try & compare shooter to each other.
COD & OFP are two different type of games.
COD is more fast paced/shoot-em up. & OFP is more tactical/realistic.
That's like trying too compare 'Rock' to 'Heavy Metal'.
so STOP IT PEOPLE!!, just play the games that fit 'YOU'.
& if you don't like a game, then don't play it.
I absolutly loved this game because it was hard u could actually die with one well placed shot and the missions were long, but then red river came along which had been made shit no by codemasters but by all the cod and battlefield fanboys who thought it was to hard or thought it had to much options on the command wheel the ai was shit tho that much i agree with but it was a fun and challenging game but red river just sucked so bad, it was far too easy the gun sounds were all wrong ai still shit and it never had any multiplayer which on dragon rising was great fun
The thing that suck in this game is:
1st. if you by accident select an AT weapon; you're FORCED to assemble it BEFORE you can Stowe it away. Which means death in some cases!
2nd. Cockpit glass in Helos are NOT bulletproof
3rd. You can't issue orders while on the move!
4th. WTF is up with the menu background music?!
i am playing this now. its pretty good, but the AI can be kinda stupid, i walked up to a vehicle to find an enemy sitting in the driver seat. he didn't move, he didn't seem to care that I was shooting at his car. The game is alright for its age.
i've had it pre-ordered for months ;)
i acually enjoyed it this game became one of my favorites its games like this not many people appreciate
HARDCORE MODE is the fucking gameplay I've been waiting for FPS FOR FUCKING YEARS!!!
Well sort of there are check points. But some don't show up for a while
@ghos7bear check your graphic setup, chances are that this is an issue you can fix, or it could be your eyesight.
Not all of us have rigor mortis on our hands.
on 360? I'm going to get this game but mainly for the Co-op Campaign but yeah i'm down for versus too
this game looks awesome and cant wait to buy it
1. There's plently of teamwork. All games have their shooters, but there's a lot more than attacking objects that meets the eye.
2. The hit detection isn't broken, its just not hit scan. The bullets literally FLY THROUGH THE AIR. Add recoil, bloom, and suppression and you think its bad hit detection/bullet reg when its not. Plus the camera of your character vs the animations.
BO2 is a joke. I have a 3 KD in it. So close yet so far from Treyarch. And no dedicated servers on the consoles.
How do you zoom in with iron sights? I just got this game and love it but i hate holding down the right joystick to zoom in:/
no, but it has system link and online co-op. highly recommend playing through with a friend
But it would be very difficult for people who have never experienced real warfare to develope a realistic interpretation of it
On PS3 you cant "punch in your buddies IP". Even then, is LAN restricted to your internal network only? (like your home network)
i heard all the missions are timed, is that true?
also is their a mode where u can just roam the whole island with people or yourself?
Seems like a socom from ps2 which was one of the best games I ever played. I'm going to get this!
@mattp9216 Amphibious assaults are usually carried about by Marines. And that's basically what you were doing. I mean it was a fucking island. MARSOC is perfect for this. Wait, did you play as a MARSOC operator in the game?
