@@Yes-dy3nx Another apologist. Even with all that terrible storytelling, Jon Snow killed an actual White Walker, saved the North from a Wildling invasion, united the Night's Watch with their sworn enemies of thousands of years, literally rose from the dead, united all manner of people and factions across the continent and helped put an end the second coming of the Long Night that saw the final destruction of the White Walkers afawk. But OK I guess 🤷‍♂️, a crippled boy was carried up North so he could sit under a tree for 4 seasons and get most of the people and animals that helped him there killed because he was disobedient 🤷‍♂️. Great story.
The most powerful and knowledgeable? No. No he is not. He can see the past, present and perhaps glimpses of the future. So? If everyone turns against him, what exactly will he be able to do about it? Nothing.
So knowledgeable that he allowed a man that knows nothing about anything other than fighting to be put in charge of the most fertile and wealthy of the Seven Kingdoms following a war that no doubt left the vast majority of the commonfolk hungry and destitute. A commoner cutthroat with no supporters or loyalists in a Kingdom full of proud families with long histories, including the still powerful and fresh Hightowers in Old Town.
So knowledgeable that he let the North go free, even though many of the remaining 6 Kingdoms would be eager to do the same, especially the always rebellious Ironborn.
So knowledgeable that he allowed both of his most capable siblings and literal heroes of the War for the Dawn leave to travel far away instead of keeping them where they can be useful.
So knowledgeable that he literally has nobody of any worth left to actually protect him in King's Landing.
So knowledgeable that he doesn't realise that he has allowed Westeros to become a house of cards at best and a powder keg just waiting for a match at worst. If he _does_ have the level of power you think he does, he is not very good at using them. Further evidenced by his only contribution to the Second War for the Dawn being... checks notes... telling people things they already know in an unnecessarily cryptic manner and... warging into a flock of crows when there were literal dragons about.
In other words, even if I accept that belief, his "power" is a hacky tool used by Dan & Dave to justify all their terrible decisions with the ability to say "no, this very obvious repercussion for this this and this won't happen, because Bran..." 😂 gtfoh

Later several were gifted to the Numenoreans to help in long-distance communication. iirc this particular Seeing Stone was lost for centuries after the sack of Osgiliath before being found by Saruman. He initially used it to spy on Sauron, but Sauron was able to influence him through it and corrupt him. After Saruman's death, Aragorn, last descendant of the kings of Numenor, wrested control of it from Sauron, and used it to trick the Dark Lord into focusing his armies on Aragorn, allowing Frodo time to get to Mount Doom and for the One Ring to be destroyed.

@@godemperorofmankind3.091 The queen dead and her army leaving is going to leave a power vacuum, and no-one's going to want to go to yet another war for the Iron Islands or Dorne.. They'd easily have gotten their indepencence then and there, and no reason to want that? You could maybe make that case for Dorne, but the Iron Islands have wanted to be free for a long time. Barely anyone has a fleet at this point. The Ironborn would be the first to build a new one, and seeing how self interested most of their lords are, they surely still have hundreds of longships left collectively to protect their own fiefs. The Iron fleet, if unified, would probably still be the strongest fleet in Westeros. I don't think they've lost nearly as many men as the North and the Westerlands have, as they've been much less involved in the wars.
No matter who legitimized Gendry, he's now the legal lord of Storm's End, and Lord Paramount of the Stormlands.. He'd have no trouble getting Westerosi lords to back his claim. If they chose Gendry by a majority vote in that council, he'd likely have at least the North, Tully's and the Vale's support.. Hard to beat that.

Most factions involved in the war of the five kings have a lot fewer. Especially the North, which was hit by white walkers on top of that.
"she only believed she could obtain independence with the protection of daenerys"
So there's no reason whatsoever she wouldn't have tried to negotiate the same protection for their independence from the new king, who'd be desperate to keep the peace in his realm, especially when that same thing was just granted on a whim for someone esle. Few understood the ending, which is PERFECT. People acidly spit "bad writing" under every video of this Work that instead is THE BEST TV SERIES EVER PRODUCED.
Daenerys literally lived for the Throne. Seeing the last certainty taken away with Jon's revelation made her explode. The reasons for her journey had disappeared. No matter what would have happened, all Westerners would have hated her. She could have shared the Throne with Jon but the problem (as she said) has always been the way others, in Westeros, looked at her. Those who saw Jon and Dany married did not understand anything: Jon grew up as a Northerner, just like Theon (irony) ... he would never have accepted incest. Jon, for his part, never wanted the Throne and wanted to return to the North. Dany's paranoia grew more and more, with good reason.
Her act of destroying King's Landing is not the act of a Mad Queen, but the explosion of rage at realizing that she has lost everything, that she has no reason to be there, that she has no one who truly loves her, nothing to fight for (not even a kingdom). What would she have fought for? For innocent people who spat at Cersei in the Walk of Shame and who cheered when Ned Stark died? As wrong as killing those people was, it was the only sensible thing to do (OBVIOUSLY in Dany's view, since the story unfolds from multiple points of view).
Even if she had ruled with Jon, Dany would have been betrayed or killed, or maybe she would have killed him, since Jon is a fool and thinks everyone is as naive as he is (just consider the secret he told Sansa in the belief that it would remain a secret).
Anyway, the Lannisters killed Ned after nine episodes of stupidity (he was an idiot to openly confront Cersei) and everyone loved the unpredictability of the series. With Dany, that didn't happen and NOT because the ending was rushed. The problem was idealizing Dany as a champion of justice: the show was designed to put her on a pedestal and then shock the viewer at the end. The other similar pedestal was that of J. Snow (Aegon VI).
Honestly, I find Robb Stark's military campaign more stupid, who in the middle of the war went to funerals and weddings (but everything was fine there, eh)... Dany is more like a "spoiled child" who wants the throne at all costs, even though she had a deep character and an incredible ability to influence others, mixed with an incredible military talent (NOT in government, we were bored for a season seeing her frustrated and unsuitable to govern the cities of the freed slavers), in addition to the fact that she recovered from a situation of anonymity in which she had been sold as a sexual slave.
It's true: she freed the slaves. Human beings are made of many faces: she had an empathetic side (but only towards slaves, COINCIDENCE) and one of exterminator/conqueror (since the first season she threatens those who don't think like her). She represents the magical world of ancient Valyria, what does a person like that have to do with politicians who go to prostitutes, get drunk and plot? In Westeros there were people who had NOTHING to do with Dany: she belonged to a mythical world that no longer existed. As Daario Naharis said, she is a conqueror like Aegon, NOT a ruler. Dany is not a good politician, she is only good at destroying, also because NOTHING keeps her tied to the present. She is tied to the world of magic, of the arcane, of mysticism. Being born in such a world, for her, must have been terrible. But she came out of the fire with Three Dragons (she had seen it in a dream). No Targaryen is fireproof, only she is. She is not just a Targaryen, she is a "creature" with magical powers. She was never good, she was from another world and had other logics (remember the death of Vyseris). How many of us would be able, from a condition of MISERY and DANGER like the one Dany experienced, to do what she did?
The battle against the slavers was a form of self-celebration, a "revenge" since she saw herself in those slaves. The same people, in Essos, then turned against her. She must have thought: "what am I doing here?". If she didn't explode at the beginning, falling back on "wise" diplomacy, it was only because her advisors (all Western, COINCIDENCE) held her back. She wanted to destroy the Wheel, but she listened to the opinions of those who, thanks to that Wheel, lived in luxury. "A Targaryen alone in the world is a terrible thing": she was in the clutches of people entangled in the world of political corruption. She had to follow Olenna's advice. What should she have done, if not exactly what she did?
They made you understand the ending both with Dany's vision and with Bran's vision. The ending is perfect: Jon, after all, has ALWAYS been a traitor and an indecisive person... and I had understood the character of Dany since the first season. She is Fire and Blood, not forest animals (lions, deer, wolves...) and political plots.
The bad writing is in the details (Dorne didn't ask for independence, revelations about the Night King or R'hllor... or anything like that): that's what more episodes were needed for (at least 4 others), not for Dany's plot. I am convinced, for example, that R'hllor resurrected Jon to kill Dany. But they are theories and fantasizing is beautiful because it stimulates the imagination. Anyway the story line of the main characters was amazing.
Seeing the scene of the destruction of King's Landing, with those obsessive bells and Dany's anger are amazing in terms of sound, visual and emotional impact: the suffering of an emotionally immature (not unstable) person who has lost everything, despite having the power to do everything. She shouldn't have played with the rules of the Game of Thrones, she should have made his own rules, like Aegon did. And it's amazing to see her die with the ash still falling on King's Landing. She died in a dream, without saying anything, falling asleep, returning to his ancestors. It hurts so bad, but that's the power of this show.
Obviously the best season remains the third, but honestly, the eighth is far superior to the first.
Thank you, D&D, for this dream!

@Ali Chaudhry I don't see it that way. Common people were better off in the seven kingdoms after conquest because of the long periods of peace it brought. It's war that makes the commoners poor, homeless and hungry. Taxation was probably largely the same regardless of the crown, since their own lords would have taxed them the same anyway. Unified kingdom = less war, less war = better for the realm.
And honestly the seven kingdoms are pretty much a republic with a ceremonial monarchy. It's not like their culture, laws and ways changed much with the unification. Aegon united the realm, as in stopped the infighting in order to SAVE the realm. I fail to see how it would be better off divided.

His journey wasn't traditionally heroic, but it made him wise and impartial. He’s a symbol of continuity and stability, which is exactly what Westeros needed after so much turmoil. GRRM was clearly trying to aim for a "God-Emperor of Westeros as a gateway drug to democracy" deal here, just like in Dune. And it could have worked, if the series had spent more time with Bran, developing and displaying his powers. But, alas, D&D kind forgot that.

Here's what I think should have happpened. Daenerys still becomes queen by defeating Cersei's army without burning king's landing with the help of the northerners, dothraki, unsullied wildlings and other houses who supported her claim. Jon Snow will not marry Daenerys because it's hard to believe that he will marry his own aunt but will become lord of dragonstone because of his heritage and since Dany will not have any children, he's next in line for the throne and marry a lady from any kingdom. Rhaegal will not die and will stay with Jon until his death. Tyrion becomes lord of casterly rock, sansa will be lady of winterfell because bran is not supposed to hold any titles as he's the three eyed raven. And since the long night has passed and the night king defeated. There's no need for the kingdoms to be forced into one. Set up a commonwealth where any nation that will participate is welcome and the others who don't (Dorne, Iron Island and maybe even Winterfell) can be independent. The entire story had been about tragedy. There's no point in having another tragedy in the ending.

You all crying because Bran is the king but forget he chose Tyrion as his hand, if you remember well, from Robert chosing Ned as his hand, Cersei chosing Tywin as Joffrey's hand etc, hands most of the times are the true rulers, especially when the king or queen are not well suited for the job. So the real undercover ruler of the six kingdoms is Tyrion, Varys had said he has the talent for it.
About him becoming stupid in the last seasons... you can blame D&D yes, for murdering his dialogs but for the emotional state of the character... I think it was good I mean, before getting across the narrow sea Tyrion was depressed and demoralized for what happened to him and what he had done. Afterwards, he was afraid of Dany and the dragons but at the same time was still trying to protect his family because he still loved them and this made him perform really poorly, buy if he ever got back to his senses, he would always make the smartest choice so, Bran may be the ruler but Tyrion would do the real job and Bran would say yes or no and won't care much about politics. Besides, Bran won't be corrupted and will spot any corruption that Tyrion might miss or commit himself, because Bran can see it all, so I think it's great. Tyrion is the one with a great story, (Story that was ironically denied in the book that was written by the maestre, and now he has the opportunity to start fresh. )
If they had developed this better people would have spotted it and understood it better.

Bran can see the past, the present, and the future, and is something like a void husk of a human (No desires, shows no emotions...)
Remember that the game of thrones is all about plots, court intrigue, and betrayals. How can you trick a king that can easily see your agenda? And it wouldn't surprise me that the kings to come also become the three-eyed raven.

I think it's terrible both by book logic and show logic. But all that aside. The main thing is you basically reset to the original problem. There is no absolute military power keeping things together like the Targaryians dragons. There's multiple strong claimants and Bran cannot produce an heir. You have Gendrys whose been legitimized, you have Edric Storm who should still be alive in Lys as direct blood claims. You have a Stark with a powerful army, is already a Queen and potential claim AND whose learned to be ambitious and scheming. Bran has alienated much of the noble houses of the realm with his choice of small council. Basically, when Bran dies if the show followed GRR Martians universe (as even we see in House of The Dragon/Dance of Dragons) you are going to have another devastating war for succession.
