In cases like these, the "trial" was often little more than a formality, and if the people present didn't like you anyway--and let's face it, the Knights of the Vale probably preferred the Starks to a guy widely known to be a backstabbing asshole--you were double-screwed, as LF found out when he ran to Yohn Royce. In any case, IMO the whole point of the scene is that as good as LF is at talking, he was as lost in terms of Northern politics as Ned Stark was in the South. The North doesn't give a flying fuck about the lying and scheming that Southron culture actually seems to actively promote, and people like LF don't last long there as a result. Virtually everyone in that courtroom, regardless of what LF could have said, were probably eager to be rid of the weasel.

I think Sansa and Arya both figured him out in their own way even without Bran's abilities. Sansa learned the hard way by being the object of several of his schemes, and Arya literally spent years training not just how to lie to perfection but to be able to spot any lie, no matter how subtle.
I love how while Sanza was talking Arya was behind little finger ready to strike like a viper. The stark children united once again. The three of them together are unstoppable.

There is a good case for Littlefinger being the smartest as Varys was worried about him the most. Littlefinger knew about Ramsay. He knew what Ramsay would do to her. Did he play three-dimensional chess and see Theon help her escape, Jon beat him one on one and then Sansa take The North after having his dogs attack him. Also, did he see Roose Bolton being removed from the board as Ramsay being a bastard was a temporary heir. Again, the Sansa storyline made no sense.

I've been watching earlier and later scenes in the series (S1-4 vs S5-8) and there's something about this scene that lacks gravity as compared to the earlier seasons.
