“These aren’t normal people.” That’s the best description of Pentatonix that I have heard. Recommend their Twelve Days Of Christmas. They make even that song sound good.
They're all smiling because they kept messing up. There's actually a behind the scenes video of it. Hilarious! I always think that Kevin is smiling because he's thinking, "Come on, it's not THAT hard!". 🤣
Just wait til you deeper in their Christmas music. Every song, even ones you think you don't like, you'll find yourself amazed by how they change it up. I'm excited to see you enjoy more holiday stuff.
Thanks again! Having worked in retail for many years, I feel your pain, and understand the aversion to Christmas music - I almost break out in hives when it starts playing in October. That being said, Pentatonix is not just any Christmas music. And so once again, I make my plea for you to listen to "O Come All Ye Faithful".
As Shawn Stockman said on The Sing Off, "WHO would THINK of this??????" This was crazy. Apparently, Avi really struggled with the hand choreography. I can see why!
Choreography is difficult for Avi. Let him lose and his hips can do things most people's hips can't but preset routines are difficult for him. He claims that the others spent an hour learning the choreo for Papoutai but he spent 6 hours and still couldn't quite get it. I say, just let his hips do their thing.
It’s not really a Christmas song. They just used it because it talks about winter and snow. The lyrics are actually quite morbid if you listen to them and can be listened to year round. Take a look at the lyrics. The song only sounds pretty because they’re singing it. The subject is dark.
You should see them do it live! And they can still do it perfectly today! I don't think it would ever be possible to be boring around these ppl! They totally use a large percentage of their brain and talent! Outstanding! Kirstin's voice is so pure in this song. Their harmonies are just out of this world! I think the angels in heaven stop to listen when PTX sings! A big THANK YOU for reacting to this song, I love it!
Something tells me Kirstie and Mitch , and Kevin were the best at this coordination. I have heard Avi it was a nightmare. I bet some of those smiles were knowing that they just messed up and trying REAL hard not to outright laugh and blowing the take. I wonder how many takes it took!!!
You with WWH:🤯 Me: 😏 wait for "12 Days of Christmas" 🤣🤣 Great reaction 😉👏🏻👏🏻 well done. And always wait for the credits, cause there's more in the old ones.
Your love for Christmas music will be rejuvenated by PTX. Even the dreaded ones such as 12 days of Christmas. They have a Christmas tour now starting that hopefully you can get to.They smile because they love what they do and each other.
I LOVE THIS. I’d love too see behind the scenes of this. They must have had a great laugh making this. 😂😂😂😂😂😂. I can’t pat my head and rub my tummy. Never mind slap my knees, someone’s knees and then meet up with the hands of the person next too you. I’d be peeing myself laughing trying too do that. 😂😂😂😂😂😂❤❤❤❤. LOVE IT 🥰
Hi. I guarantee you will learn to love Christmas music again. Haha. Yes these are not normal people. Listening to these non normal people Singing Christmas music will Be fun together 🎁🎄
They just have this way of making you love songs you normally wouldn't. I begrudgingly watched 12 Days of Christmas by them which normally I can't stand. Without giving it away, I was totally mind blown with it! You should definitely watch that one!
You really enjoy your music.!! It is quite cute to see how much you love the Pentatonix music.!!! I loved them from first song I heard. They are phenomenal entertaining and talented. It is real😊🥰
If it makes you feel any better it's not really about Christmas. It's about beheading. PTX's Christmas albums usually contain a song or two that is only a Christmas song because they say it is.
When I was in choir in Jr. High, our choir director had a thing he had us do he called "the rhythm game", that involved a pattern of rhythmic clapping, leg slapping, and snapping while singing whatever we were learning to sing at the time... it was to help develop an innate sense of timing and rhythm and burning it into your brain/muscle memory so you could always keep the beat even under pressure. Of course it was nowhere near as complex as the hand chorography they're doing here, but that's what this reminded me of.
I'm so excited to follow your PTX Christmas song journey! My 5 year old son has a "Favorite Pentatonix Christmas" playlist that we listen to year round! One of our favorite is I Saw Three Ships!
Away in a Manger is after Avi and before Matt and each one does a different hand percussion. It will blow your mind - again - but you should be used to that by now. Love your reactions.
There's a tutorial that they did - so you can learn the moves. It's floating around somewhere. I saw it once. It's incredible. What you're seeing is REAL.
I have this in my mix of songs that listen to in my car year-round. I'm absolutely in love with it -- it's one of the few that I listen to almost every day on the way to work. Don't worry about it being on their Christmas album -- just enjoy that it's beautiful music!
[Plot twist: They threw out the part of the soundtrack with everyone clapping/snapping/patting, and replaced it all with Kevin making the sounds! (just kidding of course! But he certainly could!)]
I'm a little confused about how this is a Christmas song. A song about sparrows heads falling off? That said, that hand choreography was extraordinary. And I loved Avi's little smile. I can't cede the title for Christmas music to them, however. I think you need to listen to some more Home Free Christmas stuff. Both groups are fabulous, but in pretty different ways. Who you favor depends on what you value most in a musical performance. Have a great time exploring them both. And you are appreciated and loved. Have a great weekend!
Great reaction, Matt! I guarantee PTX is going to make you LOVE Christmas music again! God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy (their second Grammy) and Thank You are my favorites but everything they do is such a pleasure to listen to! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Oh, so glad to see you react to White Winter Hymnal. I remember when I first saw it and was amazed that they could keep it straight and going forward. I could probably do the clapping part and keep my own rhythm but when you had to reach over and clap hands with the person next to you without looking towards the other persons hands, well that would be an epic fail. Thanks for the review.
To say they are good is such an understatement. They are so good and getting better and they just surprise you each and every time with their songs and their voices. When they met I believe Scott found Kevin on the internet and Avi was found from a friend of a friend. They just meant days before going on The Sing-Off and winning. Who does that? How do they do that? They are just unreal I don't even think they're from outer space, I think we are from outer space and they are the only intelligent human beings around. Got to love them!
Now you know why I suggested you view this video several weeks ago. I told you in my comment it would blow your mind. I was speechless the first time I saw it. I thought this might blow your mind. But I congratulate you for being able to talk to react. That is why you are so good and why we love you Matt!
one of my favorite short clips in Sing is a porch line up of this choreo Anyone watching Sing who hasn't seen this treasure has no idea Everyone who has seen this is like #yyaaassssss 🔥🙌🏻
This isn’t really a Christmas song (just like Hallelujah). If you want EPIC Christmas songs, you will need to react to O Come All Ye Faithful, Joyful Joyful (not really Christmas either), and 12 Days of Christmas. 🔥🔥🔥💜
Just letting him know and maybe you too that the audio is from 2016 and not a recent recording. It’s with Avi still. I think they just released it again for the Halloween season.
@@PtxXtp Yes, Thanks. The 2016 version was the work of Chadderdon Videos. They make music videos from favorite movies, and its video does not show any PTX members. Pentatonix just released the audio under their name on Oct 3, but being a soundtrack, there is no video.
It might make you feel better to watch the demo "White Winter Hymnal Clapping Tutorial". They each do their part alone (they each do something different), then show the combined clapping sequence and after the end credits there are outtakes showing how they screwed up. And I think Avi's smile that you pointed out is relief that he made it through the worst of the rhythm section.
@0:50 I'm still in retail, so I completely get where you're coming from... There was one time that I was in charge of my own store, my own (no Company-fed) playlist and I let us play Christmas tunes on Christmas Eve only... Me, the team AND the customers loved it... But especially me! :D Now: I'm not in charge of what's played where I'm at... We're just coming up to Hallowe'en, so I expect the Xmas tunes in just a few weeks... "Bleurgh!" :/ Anyways: on with your show. ;) PS: I do quite like this one. :p
If you like pentatonic I highly recommend Straight No Chaser’s Christmas music! Specifically, the Twelve Days of Christmas and their Christmas Can-Can! It’s always a good time and amazing the range 9-10 men have!
Great reaction. Their Christmas music is terrific... They are just amazing/ I saw a video or making of this video somewhere. It took them forever to do this. I finally get to go to their Christmas concert this year. I have seen them 2 times before. Once with Avi and once with Matt, but never a Christmas tour. I am so excited! I LOVE their Christmas music. I can not wait!!!!!
The skills that enable the singers to perform the intricate rhythms in both percussive and harmonies and background sounds in the music they do all the time enables them to do these hand rhythms with an ease that most of us couldn’t accomplish. This isn’t a new skill, they already had it.
Gee, they couldn't find a spot in the forest where there wasn't a giant green trash bin in the frame.😆 This is one of the many, many songs and videos that make you go, damn! I suspect that they're smiling because they finally got a good take.
Matt: I can't do .
Pentaholics everywhere. Wait for it....😄
“These aren’t normal people.” That’s the best description of Pentatonix that I have heard.
Recommend their Twelve Days Of Christmas. They make even that song sound good.
Well, bless your heart.. Great reaction.
O Come All Ye Faithful and 12 Days of Christmas please
I can't wait until you watch 12 days of Christmas
They're all smiling because they kept messing up. There's actually a behind the scenes video of it. Hilarious! I always think that Kevin is smiling because he's thinking, "Come on, it's not THAT hard!". 🤣
I actually had the behind the scenes video on a loop cuz it was really relaxing watching their bloopers
Yeah, Kevin could probably deal with someone sitting opposite him too.:))
It makes me laugh every time I watch the bloopers from this.
theres bloopers? pls send link, unless you mean the clapping tutorial
Just wait til you deeper in their Christmas music. Every song, even ones you think you don't like, you'll find yourself amazed by how they change it up. I'm excited to see you enjoy more holiday stuff.
Matt…This is a masterpiece…… My sister saw them last year live and they performed this song. NO tricks ,just pure talent…… Judy D.
Yep. That’s why there smiling they know they killed it. ❤️💕🤷♀️🙏🇬🇧

I second that! It's not a traditional rendition so you might enjoy it.
You will love their arrangement !
Yes! Yes! Yes! O Come All Ye Faithful is a PTX classic!
Yessssss please!!!
Yes…Yes…Yes!!!!!🤪🥰🥰🥰😍
I’m fairly sure they’re smiling because they’re on take #10 because they kept messing up and they’re laughing at each other.
As Shawn Stockman said on The Sing Off, "WHO would THINK of this??????" This was crazy. Apparently, Avi really struggled with the hand choreography. I can see why!

When have they ever done it live?
Listen to it again and this time, pay attention to the lyrics. This isn't a Christmas song. It's rather macabre.
Something tells me Kirstie and Mitch , and Kevin were the best at this coordination. I have heard Avi it was a nightmare. I bet some of those smiles were knowing that they just messed up and trying REAL hard not to outright laugh and blowing the take. I wonder how many takes it took!!!

All that snapping, slapping, clapping, humming, singing….uh😮!
I’m with you Matt!!!! HOW???????😮😮😮😅😅

This is actually not a Christmas song, they just included it in a Christmas album. Listen to the lyrics, it's really kinda gruesome.
It's crazy that can do this live without messing up. So not normal people but we love them!
Im excited for all the holiday excitement it's already building
Trust, they make Christmas Music wonderful, you'll enjoy it all!
I bet all the claps and snaps were easy for Kevin. He looks so relaxed.

The last concert I went to they actually did this live. The first time they had done this, amazing. 🤯
Pentatonix has a practice video that people can learn the moves to this.
They added this song to their tour this year and it's great to see them live!
I rock this song all year!
You really enjoy your music.!! It is quite cute to see how much you love the Pentatonix music.!!! I loved them from first song I heard. They are phenomenal entertaining and talented. It is real😊🥰
I think they are smiling because supposedly Scott struggled with the clapping, he kept going wrong, lol
Avi as well! Kirstin said it was easy. Ha ha.
@@susanb4213 and Kevin musta be thinking “amateurs” 😛
High school choirs sing this and do the clapping and snapping ever since PTX did this. They are more coordinated than me!
This is one of my favorite PTX songs…the Fleet Foxes original is lovely too.
They do this live now during their Christmas shows.

I am SO geeked you did this one!! Great reaction, as always.
They are doing this live on their Christmas Spectacular concert. Several videos out.
O Come All Ye Faithful is another great song.

Love your comment that they are not normal. They are phenomenal. Loved them the first song they sang
I love their Christmas music and Spotify it all year round ❤
right? 🔥🙌🏻
I’ve seen them do it live. Amazing!
One of my faves!
At the end of the video after they have finished singing there is a link to where they were learning to do this!
Hello Matts. Yay !! White Winter Hymnal. PTX is just superb. Love this one so much. They are the best invention since sliced bread!!!
Away in a Manger is after Avi and before Matt and each one does a different hand percussion. It will blow your mind - again - but you should be used to that by now. Love your reactions.

You'd better get a very tall ladder because their Christmas songs just keep escalating!
This is one of my favorites! Thank you Matt! And yeah, I'd love for you to react to Oh Come All ye Faithful too!
This is actually my favorite ptx song. Its my comfort song when I'm upset and need to relax.
A friend of mine was watching this with me and said, "Oh my goodness! I can't even chew gum and walk! How'd they do that?!?" Hahaha.

There is a recent live version of this. Check that out. It's was done in Oakland CA on 11-17-22. ( think that's the correct day) Lol!
I consider this video and their cover of "Havana" to be two of their best. I love everything they do, but these two are amazing.
Oh, so glad to see you react to White Winter Hymnal. I remember when I first saw it and was amazed that they could keep it straight and going forward. for the reaction.♥️

Well it's not really a Christmas song, just a winter song. So feel free to sing it all winter.🙂
This song (this arrangement) and "Run to You" (original) are probably the most covered songs from PTX by Vocal Groups or Choirs.
and wait till he finds out the AMAZING thing they learned to do during the chorus so the snow looks as though it's floating upward!
I am with you. By the second verse it would just be a slap fight! Thanks for another Great Reaction!!!🤣😁😎

he wrote just as a fill in to start the album. You should look in to it a little. I love your work here and else were. Great Job
