What blows me away is considering that while they're capable of a performance like this, they CHOOSE to sing with Home Free. Any of the members could go one to have successful careers in whatever genre they want, but they all choose to be together right where they are. Amazing!
Rob and Austin were both very nervous in the premiere chat yesterday! Especially Rob. Rob hasn't performed opera in over 15 yrs, but he did study it. Rob also went live today on IG to thank everyone including reactors for the positive feedback. They are insane!! Thanks Matt. 🖤🍟
The members of Home Free are all so talented. Tim can sing in five octaves, Rob and sing anything including opera, which he studied, Chance can sing bass and baritone, Adam is an award winning beatboxer and beyond, Austin has a beautiful voice.
I loved this! So it turns out that Rob studied opera in college and Austin is classically trained so I expected their performance to as good as any Home Free song always is - but not this good! I thought it was beautiful, wonderful, and incredible!
Gotta say this, when I saw the 2 Country singers doing this, it really wasn't a surprise. These 2 can SANG!!! or Sing for those of proper operatic bend.
They blew this out of the canals of Venice. (I know, Venice is in Austria...) but still. I'm not surprised, because they are both musicians through and through - but you can be "not surprised" and still be blown away. Pavarotti smiles benevolently from his rest and says, "keep trying, lads..."
I have never been a fan of opera except maybe some Andrea Bocelli & a few others. But I have always appreciated the talent it takes to sing opera. I was pretty impressed with Rob & Austin's version of Nessun Dorma. I have heard this famous song done by Pavarotti. I think I was more surprised by Rob's range & powerful delivery than even Austin's. Pretty good for a couple of country boys! Nice to see them dressed up in suits & looking classy.
Binge watching your HF playlist (again). Years ago Rob's vocal coach said he could have a HUGE career in Opera. Thank God he joined HF. I've never been a fan of opera but I love this video. One Italian reactor said that she not only forgot they weren't opera singers, she forgot they weren't Italian.
Rob and Austin made me happy and nailed it perfectly ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮 you’ll shock me with your abilities to sing all types of music ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
This is so amazing. Surprising, but not. Knew they could do it, didn't think they ever really would. You are absolutely right about the variety of music they can do - and actually do do. Think of the continuum from Butts Remix to this. All the delights in between. How lucky we all are to be around to experience their (and the rest of the group's) talent. Love that you were singing along. I wasn't singing, but I sure was conducting. And taking that big last breath right along with them. And you are special and loved, too. Have a fabulous week.
Rob studied Opera in College but it's been years since he sang it. Austin studied musical theater. They both have the talent to do anything they want. You need to listen to Austin's version of Bring Him Home from Les Miserables
I was delighted by their rendition - but not completely surprised. The vocal skills they're using are evident in many of their Home Free songs as well -- 'Mayday' springs to mind, as does 'How Great Thou Art.' They both have beautiful, clear tone and resonance in all their performances, and it's just a matter of adding power and mastering the diction and accent of the words they're singing into that mix.
You know, I see people comment that Austin sings this with a country accent. This is not true. You hear Austin's voice and think 'country accent'. But not one word had twang.
This one and Bring Him Home are the only ones where I DON'T hear the Georgia in Austin's voice. I love the man's accent but the song's without it are breathtaking treasures. Bravo to Austin and Rob. And heartfelt thanks.
Rob has that "chiaroscuro" quality, hitting high notes ("light") but sounds brooding ("dark"), Austin doesn't, but Austin's voice has so much clarity ("air" / "angel"). But both of them are AWESOME.
We had every reason to believe Austin could do this since he's done "Bring Him Home" from Les Miserable so wonderfully several times. Why not Rob as well! Never doubted you guys. I'm sure the snobby opera critics are saying (insert weenie voice here) "He did this wrong." "He didn't do that right." But I thought it was excellent, and I'm the one buying your music, not them.
They are both so incredibly talented. I knew that Austin could sing like that, I've heard it before, but Rob, WOW. That just blew my mind and yet it didn't at the same time. I knew he had it in him. If you want to see another time for Austin, look up his video of him singing "Bring him home" from "Les Miserable". He will bring a tear to your eye.
I don't think I could sit through an actual opera, but I do love hearing some of the arias. I've listened to IL Volo for many years and don't understand what they are singing about, but I just love the music and now to hear Rob and Austin singing Nessun Dorma what a joy and to see reactors gobsmacked is just brilliant. Loving your reactions Matt especially Home Free x
I felt the same way. Then in college in worked in a theater as a stagehand when the local opera company came in to do La Triviotta. After a week of rehearsals and several performances I found myself singing along with them.
who knew a couple of country bumpkins could pull this off NOT surprised cause they can sing anything only thing I noticed was Austin singing in Italian with a country accent diction was good tho
After pizza, Italian is lost to me. How do these two men send send shivers through me, not having any clue what they are singing about? I know that , somehow, I am inspired to learn Italian while listening to this!
I saw this for the first time yesterday and was blown away. I have a layman’s limited knowledge of opera. I know who Pavarotti is and have listened to him sing some amazing music. While this isn’t of his caliber, this is an amazing performance by guys who don’t sing this way every day. Spectacular talents, both of them! Enjoyed your reaction, as you obviously knew the song. It gave me a different perspective.
Your joy was beautiful to behold! I've watched this sooooo many times already and this is proof that music is the universal language! I don't have a clue what the words are and I don't care! They still had me with layers of goosebumps, chills chasing up and down my spine, and tears rolling down my face. I can't remember which reactors chat it was in, but there was someone from Italy that said that their pronunciation was right on! I thought that was a wonderful compliment! ❤
Thank you for reacting to this. This is breathtaking. It is hard to imagine they can sing anything better then they already have done in all of their past performances. Words can not adequately describe my feelings.
Still in awe of the difference when Rob sings opera instead of the lovely sweet high tenor voice with Home Free, my fav. But still, this is wonderful. He dug out his training from 15 years ago he said! Wow. And then, of course, Austin does what he just does without trying, emotion pours out of Austin when he sings. I love it. Have you heard Austin singing Bring Him Home (not with HF), just him and friend Sebbie on the piano. Incredible!!! Thanks for your reactions, really enjoying them. Take care.
It's worth watching these reactions just to see the looks of shock on their faces....lol. But I could watch it many times anyway as it's definitly the most enjoyable rendition of this song I've ever heard, and I've heard a lot! I understand that Rob had operatic training some years ago and I have to assume the Austin has trained also but Rob truly has the voice for this.
I knew Rob could project more than Austin after hearing them 'How Great Thou Art' in a tent in Kearney, mo. Look it up, you'll hear. Thanks for joining us in collectively dropping our jaws.
Watched this during the premiere and then along with a few YT reactors. After Rob did a tiny tease of his fancy duds and the setting, was anxiously looking forward to this so questioned why I wasn't particularly impressed, initially. Realized the visuals were taking away from the experience. Being a visual person, some aspects of the video didn't click with me and Rob looks very similar to my cousin (albeit 30 years ago!) who is an opera singer, therefore, I wasn't really seeing Rob. Once I gave my full attention to just listening, I was fully able to embrace the experience. Knew Rob had previously sung opera many years ago, so while not all that surprised, was impressed by how comfortably he stepped back into this role after so long showing us how much more he's capable of. But even more, was beyond pleasantly surprised by Austin (love the hair!) taking on this challenge given how well his voice complemented Rob's. This is pretty darn amazing and I wholeheartedly applaud both Rob and Austin for continuing to spread their wings by trying new ventures beyond what we already knew of their musical capabilities. I see a lot of potential in these 'two country a cappella guys.' ;)
WHAT...WHAT..WJAT IS HAPPENING! I saw you guys in Colorado, and I had absolutely Nooooo, clue . This made me cry. One of my Mum's favorites. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. 🧡🤒 so beautiful .
I think Adam Lambert got this thing started-he’s been singing Nessun Dorma at Queen concerts! (And he’s really good, too.). Anyway, I’m loving this. Soooo cool to hear these guys get out of their lane a bit, and who knew they could sound like this? Great reaction!
@graniepanies I actually went back and listened to Adam’s rendition. I love the guy-he has a great voice, and I thought he did a beautiful job, but OMG, Rob’s voice just gave me the good kind of chills.
Great reaction. Being blown away is to be expected. We are all somewhat nerdy who watch music reactions. Case in point, Avi Kaplan is a formally opera trained basso profundo who sang pop acapella in Pentatonix and now sings his own compositions in folk rock. So go figure 🙂 Rob is an opera trained tenor. He developed his channel as did Tim Foust as their income sources during the pandemic quarantine with no touring for live shows and they just used it for this performance.
Loved your reaction, Matts!💖 We all know how incredibly talented they ALL are, but this is truly a magnificent masterpiece! This is one of the few opera songs I love & Pavarotti would either be proud or jealous! They could be 2 of the new 3 tenors! It brought me to tears the first two times I watched this. Turn-a-doe (Turnadot). I got to act in a few Operas. Not Turnadot however. (PS not sing as no one would have stayed in the theatre ). They did a good job. What lends itself well for them is that, while they use microphones, a cappella is built around singing with out microphones. Hi Denise! I follow HF’s page but didn’t see see the premiere chat. Where did they chat?
@@TheDivayenta The video premiered on Austin's YT channel - not HF's. They were chatting before and during the video. 😊

Rob and Austin both studied opera in college. Rob said he sand this song to his father on Father's Day. No genre is off limits!

They can sing anything well. The proof is here.
I know, my reaction was like, Shut The Front Door! Love, love, love!!
To me this is Austin's way of highlighting Rob's talent.
Matt Rob was actually trained in Opera. They were so afraid of how everyone would take this. Truly enjoyed watching your reaction to this song.
They just jumped out of their musical pigeon-hole! Just amazing.
Rob is a miracle. Who else can sing Sir Mixalot AND Puccini???
I have been saying it for years now and this is proof that all of Home Free are Angels. WOW !!!!!!!!!!👏👏👏👏👏👏👏❤❤❤❤😀😀😀😀
