thank you for nice words...but i guess that you are Croatian now, you are Damjanić after all!!!you even have Croatian name!!!
Anita i meant...it's a common name in Croatia
I’m a Tanzanian living in Croatia and I looove it here! The people are easy going and I tend to get around just fine even though I still don’t speak Croatian. I am very comfortable here. I’ve never experienced racism not even from one person.
How come you moved here?

Is your full name Anita?🥰😍
I spent a month in Croatia , Zagreb , a few years ago.., It is the European country I feel most comfortable in as a black man from Florida with a Caribbean background.. and I have been to many places all over Europe..and I did not find it expensive ..I could live off US$1000 a month there ....but they do eat a lot of pastry..lol...good local beer too..
Rent, utility bills with the current minimum wage makes it expensive 😀plus I’m sure things are different now from 10 years ago
Its not expensive with US salary :)
@@Anitadamjanic I was there in 2018_2019
I live and was born in Croatia, I work in a metal processing factory in Croatia near Zagreb on a CNC machine, and I have a monthly salary of around 5000 HRK, if I work overtime then it's a little more ... it's 780 USD, 660 €, we have the lowest wages in the European Union ... so now count how we live. The cost of an apartment with utilities in Zagreb is very expensive, but let's say in Karlovac where I live, which is a small town, the prices of renting an apartment with utilities range up to 2000 HRK ($ 300) and more, but it's all without internet, mobile phones, and no food ... and a liter of fuel, let's say petrol, is now 11 HRK ($ 1.74). In the end, you have very little left to save ... and if you plan to take out a loan, you have nothing left, zero ... then you won't have anything for the annual car registration if you have one. This is how more than 70% of people live, and it is the only real and realistic picture of life in Croatia. Croatian commercial beers are terrible, we don't drink them anymore because they are garbage ... and many of my friends think so .... that's why we drink German, Czech and Belgian beers ... and if Croatian beers are good for you, then I'm afraid to think what you drink in America.
If you live in a big city in the USA (expensive) and have a job in a factory in might be the same. It also depends where you live. I would say it’s easier to get jobs so perhaps regarding saving money - some people work two jobs or three. Having spend time in Croatia I say yes there’s is less cash flow there for people but they spend a lot of time socializing - a plus. Also you don’t have crime which believe me is a problem in other countries Even in Europe. Money might be appealing but there us a price to pay even for your children.
Thank you for representing our beautiful country like this ❤️ It really makes my heart happy to see people like you who appreciate the small things in life and not stereotype things I'm sorry if you had racist experiences here pozdrav iz dubrave sestra 🥰

Dobar video.... Sretno.
Hvala vama😍❤️
No one looks for racism, but it's bad in most parts of Europe. People are traumatized. I lived in 5 European countries, and one has to deal with so much hate. That's why they are the questions about racism. No one wants to be mistreated or hated based on skin color.
Thank you for the video. You are absolutely beautiful.
“Looking” wasn’t said on literal terms. My point is about mindset. I’ve gotten to the stage in my life where i just don’t care. The way i see it, no one is above me and that’s it. Everyone has trauma but its best not to let it envelope you. My point was definitely on a mental image standpoint. You picture everything as racist it will definitely manifest itself. There are racists everywhere,in every country (continent)
Love your positive mentality. You are so right about manifesting how we think. There will always be negative people everywhere. I’ve lived Belgium - my neighbors where from Nigeria. They were a lovely family. Good people transcend color or looks and you attract what you are. Many blessings and enjoy your life wherever you go.
Thanks Elizabeth❤️. Your comment warmed my heart😘

Thank you Anita for this post about the land of my ancestors. For me, as the heir to Croatian military border guards, it is always interesting how other people see and experience my country, my people.
What do we call looking at or staring at? We Croats (unlike many other peoples) look every human being in the eye. This out of pure curiosity, out of interest in the other human being. Not out of rejection. And if this beautiful woman met me on the street, I would certainly look at her. Not because I reject her, because I'm a racist. No, for the very simple reason that she is a beguilingly beautiful woman. But obviously someone else has already noticed this, otherwise she would not have this beautiful name Damjanic.
Wow 😍😍 this is meant to be a poem. A very beautiful comment indeed. Croatia is a beautiful place and it is sad that people don’t know this yet
@@Anitadamjanic
lol, thanks. Me and a poet? And that with my school English. Hardly in this language. But yes, language and expression played a big role in my family. The Communists expropriated us in 1947. Taken everything that generations have created. All my parents had left was their upbringing, their language, their way of being. This is how they differed from the rabble, especially from the Serbs.

As you said - when somebody comes into another's person home - it's natural to behave oneself. I don't see the reason to differentiate people based on their skin color. Personally, I believe in an "out of Africa" theory of early human migrations. This means that all our not-so-distant ancestors were black. How can anyone hate or despise their ancestors?
BTW I do differentiate people based on their gender. You're so beautiful, young woman; this is all that's important to me. ;)

I hope things get better for Croatians but I mean the food and summer life is enough for me🤣🤣
We have great respect for women in Croatia, what is most evident is that prostitution is almost non existant here in Croatia, it's something that just does not fit within our culture seeing women degraded
Also the raping rate is much under west European country's
lol it does exist but its covered with music scene or simply giving a "funny" add into newspaper ..
@@bvonm9557 yes that's true there is prostitution but it's illegal unlike in germany or Netherlands but yes you right there is also prostitution in Croatia
You need to get out more
Yeah, many influencers (not only Croatia ofc), what you call here sponsored ladies, this is prostitution. Just named differently. I go to the first city next to me, and you will find like 1/4 of women married or the lovers of politicians, directors of companies, football players etc, just for money
I agree I lived on Korcula I was one of two English girls living there. I found that every one was so kind and Men respect woman.

I'm impressed by the generosity of the Korean government to extend such an invitation to foreigners.
You wont find gangsters or drug dealers on our streets as you would in other European countries, anyone that tried this activity on our streets would not last long as they would be wiped out by locals very quickly
they can be found on the streets...chauffeured in limousines to and from parliament ,occasionally flown by military helicopter to visit mistress
You re kidding, in nasice the drug dealer was known by police (and some politicians he he). They guy was here relax, sending packages of drugs from his window to down on the parking cars 😂 but yeah sure, it doesn't exist here. And in vz, even if I love vz, you can get everything you want crazy easily. So please. No arrogance
You are daft aren't you, i've seen you on countless travel vlogs about croatia always pretending to be a foreigner and finding out croatia is the best in the world somehow, i got news for you, it is not, not even close to that, it is not as bad as some may portray it also, but claiming no drug dealers or respecting women and such bs is just stupid, claiming some high moral ground for croatia is directly negated by your pretending to be something you are not and claiming things that factually are not true or even close to truth.
@@williamteocchi3140wuut .. talking about arrigance.. are you seeeing people with guns? Is there neighbourghoods that are dangerous? Can you walk at past midnight and not be raped or robbed unlike half of eu rn? There is no crack fentyln and other crazy shit here but people who look will find even in small place like našice
@@lavordavor7738 if you were living here still, then you would know that two persons got murdered over last two years, many agressions, drunk people in street everydays, corruption at the highest, and yes there is drug traffic in našice. But as some local politicians are in it, nobody do nothing about it. Nasice was lovely town 40 years ago, I totally agree. But it changed a lot and not for good. As a Croatian I have FUN FACT for you. First European "city - state" to ban slavery was Republic of Dubrovnik. Year was sometime in 1660-s. In SFRY we had many brown students from non aligned countries, and we all (ex -YU coutries) find rascism awful.

Same happens back here in the States. Black women go to black salons to get their hair done. Black hair is totally different then white hair. Croatia is 99.9% white. It’s easy for a beautiful young woman to live anywhere.
I was there for 2weeks in Sept 2023 to October...some children aged 8 to 10 yrs called me the N word and snickered about it when confronted. 50 percent of people were very kind when I asked for directions or assistance in grocery stores. I enjoyed the stay. People have a reasonable concern and a need to ask , it does not mean they are looking for racism
Next month my wife going to Croatia for study
That’s Amazing❤️🥰 she’ll definitely love it there
Yep it's true it's expensive to live here compared to the money people make, especially if you don't have a really good job.
Happy you agree🙂
Exactly...We have for example a wage of 500€ and the rent is 300€, bills like electricity, water etc. Is another 200€, and then you have to go to debt bcs you need to eat too. It would be great to have a wage like someone in Italy,Germany and have prices like here. But it's not like that.
We are not racists..But there are people who care about nationality but I believe it is a minority of people.
❤️❤️❤️
@@Anitadamjanic thank you Anita, lot's of love to you! ❤😊
Been here two days now, but the honest stares I get 🙂🙂. Seems people spend years before seeing a black woman.
It’s actually the same way white folks get stared at in some parts of Nigeria where they aren’t seen regularly
Because of pure curiosity, not because of racism or something bad. It is true that we don't see black people too often (situation changed in the last 2-3 years due to immigration from Asia and a little bit from Africa).
It is a Schengen country now
Good
What about your husband’s view point about where to settle down. I suppose your arguments for wanting to live in Nigeria apply for him in Croatia. Will he not miss his family , friends, community and people who look like him too if he settled in Nigeria.
These plans are agreed on, he has refused to live permanently in Croatia since for the most part of his life he has spent it out of the country. It turns out that there aren't that many opportunities either in Croatia as there are in Nigeria. So there you have it.
@@Anitadamjanic It's none of our business anyway 🤦♀️ 😅 Good luck to you both wherever you find yourself in life! 👋
Anita, your husband is very blessed to have a wife like you.
All east european countries have no racism because they didn't have colonies. So in Croatia and the rest of east Europe black and yellow people are rarities. I remember as a kid that we were very surprised when we saw some black or yellow turist and that was not on the tv.
Croatia for living is expensive because the salary is small. If you live in a apartment or house that our parents had or made in the time of ex Yugoslavia then you can live nicely. If you have to pay a rent then is not good.
Finding a job is also difucult for Croats. So lot of our citizens go to work in some more industrialized countries.
thank you for the complement ❤️
No racism in East. Yeah sure 😂. Polish, Ukrainians, East or south Croats (I didn't say north) aren't racist at all. What a lie.
@@williamteocchi3140 Croats are not racists, they don't have their own word for that. Especially not southern ones, they mixed with the indigenes everywhere, New Zeland, Argentina,... no colonialist aspirations. Take your trash elsewhere 👎
@@mariomarino3020 yeah sure, no ustaše here. Specially in East Croatia, split and places like this. They aren't know for making antisemit concerts, racism and all sure. Hello great video 👍🏻 Question; how is the construction or remodeling process in Croatia? Is it very expensive like the U.S? Or is it too difficult to get permits granted? I’m moving to a Croatia for my nomad visa but plan to buy a property and renovation to how I like it but hoping it’s not too difficult or costly, any suggestions? I’ve traveled there multiple times and although the people are lovely, I can see some look at us with dollar signs in their eyes, so wanting to stretch my budget to buy and renovate a house.
I wouldn’t know anything about that. But I would think that it would be expensive because the rent is quite high. I’ll try to get this information and if or when I do I will relay the answer back to you
@@Anitadamjanic ok thank you 🙏🏻 I just wonder because I heard bureaucracy or nepotism can be difficult in Croatia that’s why I ask…
Like with anything, whatever you do, you must get like 3 quotes minimum with whatever you do. Also, make sure you do everything legally and use local solicitors to check everything for you prior to any construction, it's like anywhere else, you do things shonky you will get shonked, do things correctly you will do just fine
I HIGHLY doubt it’s as expensive as the US, the US is one of the most expensive countries in the world. Only like 5 or 6 countries IN THE WORLD are more expensive than the US

On braiding hair and African / Black hairstyles.... there is not a lot of demand for that particular talent in Croatia - a small country with less than 4 million people. So that means that I am sure not many stylists will work on that specific talent. It is just part of the environment,
No that wasn’t my point. My point is the African hair stylists are most times hesitant to braid African hair but have no reservation braiding European hair
