Today we will be studying item number SCP-037: Dwarf Star, Object class: Euclid.
SCP-037 appears to be a star approximately 5 cm (2 in) in diameter, with a luminosity of about 1*10-12 times that of our sun and a surface temperature of about 5000 K. The object was discovered above the Beaufort Sea and later transported to Site-32 for study. Containment and transport of SCP-037 have been achieved by the use of powerful electromagnets, to which the artifact aligns itself according to its own magnetic field. The primary challenge to containment thus far has been its powerful electromagnetic emissions, which are intense enough to be easily seen by the naked eye from high Earth orbit.
The origin of SCP-037 is unknown.

This is hands down my favorite SCP channel. Not only are the videos in numerical/chronological order, but the photo composite art is amazing. I’ll be honest, I have a a hard time visualizing a lot of the SCPs when reading about them, mostly due to all the scientific jargon and terminology (really makes me feel like I need a degree to even understand the articles lol), but here, I can just see the illustrations to comprehend what the words are describing. Lol I’ll be honest, when I first read the foundation used a “magnet” to transport the star, I thought they meant one of those giant horseshoe magnets to drag it away like they do in cartoons.
But thank you for doing this. You’re really helping the common readers out there get involved in the community!

You know, they *say* they want SCP-019 destroyed ASAP because it's such a pain in the ass, but I'm not hearing where they've dropped SCP-037 into it to see what happens. If the pot *is* indestructible you've contained that red giant expansion issue nicely, maybe gotten a stellar-scale plasm torch out of the deal as the confined energy pours out of the pot's opening, and permanently blocked further goblin production because they are *not* crawling out past a star. If it *isn't* indestructible, well, stuffing a star into the pot ought to be enough "extreme prejudice" for anyone, and your goblin problem is still gone.
Of course, if the inside of the pot is dimensional gate or some such you may have just dropped a star through it, which sounds kind of ill-advised. The safer play would be to simply reposition the pot so its opening is just beneath the star. Either it melts or it doesn't, and again either way the goblins become a non-issue, puffing into expanding plasma as fast as they come through.

1:28 hehe, it's suppose to be '1x10' (to the power) -12, aka 1/10^12 (i.e a small number). when it's '1/10^NUMBER' it can also be written as 1x10^-12 ('1 times ten to the minus 12). Excellent video!!!

Special Containment Procedure: SCP-037 is magnetically contained in a subterranean complex known as Site-22. Object size, spectral signature, and temperature are constantly monitored both onsite and remotely from Site-98.
The primary containment chamber is lined with heat conducting, radiation-resistant NANOPEEK GFV polymer tiles and evacuated of any atmosphere. Heat from the object is radiated into the surrounding rock. Should enclosure integrity become compromised, the emergency system will generate a low power argon plasma shield. This is projected to provide a minimum of 4 hours for onsite engineers to effect necessary repairs before the object breaches containment.
In the contingency that stellar evolution proceeds ahead of projections and a nova event appears imminent, or if containment failure is otherwise unavoidable, any remaining project staff are authorized to initiate the Pituaq Protocol.
Description: SCP-037 appears to be a star approximately 5 cm (2 in) in diameter, with a luminosity of about 1*10-12 times that of our sun and a surface temperature of about 5000 K (determined by UBVRI analysis). The origin of SCP-037 is unknown, however, analysis suggests that it shares many properties in common with a typical main sequence star, other than its anomalously small size. It is theorized to have entered the Earth's magnetosphere via the North Magnetic Pole.
The object was discovered in 19██ above the Beaufort Sea at approximately the North Magnetic Pole. Intense electromagnetic interference was reported by Canadian Forces Station (CFS) Alert, followed by an extremely bright object descending toward the ocean from the sky. The SCPS Guardian responded and discovered the object wavering in an erratic trajectory about 200 m above the surface of the water. Once containment procedures were devised it was transported to Site-32 for study.
Containment and transport of SCP-037 have been achieved by the use of powerful electromagnets, to which the artifact aligns itself according to its own magnetic field. The primary challenge to containment thus far has been its powerful electromagnetic emissions, which are intense enough to be easily seen by the naked eye from high Earth orbit. Its current enclosure is located deep underground to prevent detection and to facilitate radiative cooling into the surrounding bedrock. In effect, the entire facility and the surrounding volume of the Earth's crust act as a massive heat sink.
Addendum A: Over the past ██ years of study, the star has undergone a shift in emitted EM radiation, suggesting that it is undergoing stellar evolution at a vastly accelerated rate. If standard stellar models hold up, this will soon result in an increase in radius by a factor of 100 to 300 times, and a concomitant increase in radiated energy. Emergency containment contingencies are being studied for that eventuality. Further progression of the star's life cycle will likely terminate in a stellar nova, which is estimated to have a yield of ███████████. Extrapolations predict this to occur in ███████████. Research is underway for a method to arrest this development or to transport SCP-037 a safe distance from the planet before it occurs.

Well...one good thing is that the star is a....star so you can just harness her fusion to power whatever vehicle you need to transport this thing OFF earth.
Wouldn't it have made more sense for the SCP to attempt to eject the dwarf star out of the solar system and not bother to capture it in the first place? Unless they're trying to research it to understand our Sun or learn how fusion reactors work? Anyway, from what I know about stars, the smaller the star, the longer its lifespan and the less likely the nova. They just get dimmer and dimmer until they can't do fusion anymore.

Considering the star is significantly brighter than the sun, that would be incredibly difficult without breaking normalcy. Especially since they probably don't want to risk sending it into space where they can't control what it does, since it might end up interfering with the other planets, or since it interacts with magnetic fields, it could also react to solar winds and radiation and possibly harm life on earth if unchecked.

We've been trying to make an artificial star for a while now on Earth as a power source, and yet here it is, and its being a financial drain instead.
SCP-2399 The Malfunctioning Destroyer/Great Red Spot could make use of 037 were it to orbit to close to Jupiter in the near future. It could be weaponized at some point to deal with future threats. Probably better to keep it contained were they can keep eyes on it and out of the wrong hands.

Well the numbers in this don't make any sense. The sun's power output is 4 x 10^26 watts, so if it was one trillionth of the sun's power output, it would still be 400 terawatts. From a 2 inch size object. That's much, much brighter than it should be for an object at the temperature you claimed it was first of all, but if it was glowing with that much power, they definitely wouldn't be able to contain it in a room, that's basically like a 100 kiloton nuclear bomb going off every second. That would be more than just warm the nearby wall. Consider the inverse square law. The sun is 93 million miles away. Which means if this was a trillion times less powerful, then it would look like the sun a million times closer, in other words from 93 miles away. From 93 miles away, it would glow as visibly brightly as our sun does in the sky. From 9.3 miles away, it would be like 100 suns. So no you wouldn't be able to keep this thing in a ROOM. But also its surface temperature would have to be about a million degrees. In fact I'll figure it out exactly for you. With a radius of 2.5 cm instead of the sun's 700 thousand km, its radius is 28 billion times less than the sun's, and its surface area is therefore 784 quintillion times less. Yet it is only 1 trillion times dimmer and so it is radiating 784 million times the power per unit surface area. Now power per unit area is in proportion to temperature to the 4th power, so we take the 4th root of 784 million and get 167. So it is actually 167.33 times hotter than the sun. Which is 5772 kelvins. So its surface temperature would actually have to be 966 thousand degrees.
