What auction website did you find this vehicle
I don't know man I would have replaced all spark plugs as soon as I saw the first one being kind of pretty bad That's ironic
I wanna win this car for used for work and my kids
I leave an extra coil in my BMW. Grab and switch when needed! Also some water and a qt of oil! Ah the BMW life. I love the way they drive and I'm a weekend warrior. Never been a problem. We have a few other vehicles so no BMW PTSD. With that said the BMW has never left me stranded. Even when it threw the belt. Still made it home.
Woah man that Intro was sick 😎

When it's running fine and not throwing codes, that's a bad omen.

People say the worst sound is hearing a tool/bolt/nut drop, but they're wrong. The worst sound is the silence of it not hitting the floor.
Or sounding like a Pachinko machine as it bounces around on the way to a black hole.
100%.
The full throttle worry in the AMG and BMW is definitely a thing. Premium is $3.64 in SC. Never liked the X6 look, but incredible deal either way.
23:30 "I don't know if I can produce the same amount as the air compressor ... but I have been working out." HILARIOUS! Thanks for making these vids educational AND entertaining, Alex.
Imagine being the previous owner, missing your car that you were told was totaled for a cracked engine, only to see it again on UA-cam. The only thing cracked was the engine cover, and the check engine light was fixed by cleaning some parts and swapping out a coil pack.
I'm guessing their mechanic gave them a intervention on bmw ownership and they ditched the suv
@@abigalanderson7494 skill issue!
I was cross shopping these with the Cayenne Turbo I eventually bought.
The Cayenne ended up needing the coolant line under the intake replaced. Probably due for a timing chain soon.
I'm wondering, how bad could these BMWs really be? 😅
@@abigalanderson7494it was probably the BMW salesman that convinced them to trade up and get a new car!
@@SuzukiKid400 It was put up for auction by the insurance company, so definitely not a BMW salesman. The insurance company itself did all the testing & for some odd reason put it up for auction instead which makes little sense.
Good for the owner tho cause they got a massive payout to buy a new car lol
I buy and Repair "Broken" auction cars all the time, creative "Fixes" are not uncommon and many times, ppl have NO idea how to Diagnose cars.....so if the auction notes say "Broken Engine".....sometimes, just a battery is needed.....sleepers are everywhere if you know what you are looking for.........You can drive any car you want, if you know how to work on and fix them.....Great Videos......LOVE the Content !!!!!
And if you don't know what you're looking for, it might be a complete moneypit. So remember to set a stop loss and prepare to walk away if your initial repair estimate was totally off.
@@JayMaverickthe sunk cost fallacy is easy to fall into.
Yeah u till you get major burn
And it will happen trust me how I know well I got burned
Is it for sale. I wanna buy it.
So many of the German cars throw up all sorts of error codes if the battery isn't in top shape. In this case the battery was new but often worth checking.
For the 20th time this video, the wedding band is called a Ferrule! 😁
Mike in San Diego. 🥰🎸🚀🖖
Just an fyi: you dont have to remove the wedding band and brass fitting but from the new bag. You can just remove the old ones from the line. Then push the line into the new brass fitting with it still installed in the bag until it seats. Then snug the brass nut and your done! Super easy.
I remember when a fellow tech first told me this and I tried it to confirm for myself. I was like you mean to tell me I’ve been fighting with these things for nothing all this time?? 😂
Now sell it. Immediately. 😂😂

I like the x6, I have a 550i with the same engine, gives me a head ache every now and then but when it runs good it's a blast.
Correct Alex, the X6 did come in 5 seaters but it's optional. I agree with you, if you're going to have a big 4X4, it should have 5 seats, even if you decide to have only 2 people sit in the back!
The X5 has 5 seats. These were basically tall sports cars.
I worked at a BMW specialist shop for awhile, and absolutely hated working on the N63, and S63 engine while in the car. No room for anything. However, whenever they're running good, they're really fun. I did downpipes, a straight pipe exhaust, and a tune on a fresh motor, and that thing sounded insane on the dyno.
I love the intro graphic and sound, thank you for being original Max!!
Yea now he loves triangles. Interesting😅
Reminds me of 90s sitcom graphics.
Gives me '80s throwback feels! I love it!!
It's alright cuz Max was saved by the bell!@NeoAndersonReloaded
For the longest time, I never clicked on any of your videos. I don't know if it was the channel name or what, but I just assumed it was like "douchey" car content that you see a lot of nowadays. I feel bad even saying that, because I absolutely love your channel! My favorite part is just that you show your full diagnosis process, the little wins (like finding dropped bolts) as well as when things don't work out. The other thing I love is that you're not always focused on "out of reach" cars which has become commonplace on the internet today. Just a great channel, and again I apologize for whatever weird assumptions I had made before I even watched a single one of your videos. Keep being great! Love the intro, btw. Cheers from CT
I purchased my X6 in 2014 brand new.
I'm still driving my car without issues.
Just follow recommendations and service as factory recommended.
Nothing will be surprising to you, if you understand German Engineering.
I Love my X6, the best SAV ever!
Cap
27:49 Pro tip....when I did my N63 exhaust vanos solenoids, that hidden bolt was a huge pain. I cut a slot in the intercooler mount bracket arm, so that no I can pre-install the bolt without fear of dropping it, and it helps mount and situate the intercooler on reinstallation.
Alex, as always, you do not disappoint! On a side note, I live in Germany and know the troubles with this particular power plant. However, it’s one of my father in law’s favorite BMW, colour, spec… When you’re done with your magic, I’m sure you will sell it on. If we could work something out including shipping here, I would love to surprise my father in law for his 74th birthday in August with this X6. I’ve been looking for a long time and cannot find one here, as clean as yours for less than 20,000 €. His current daily driver is a 2009 Audi Q7 TDI. He likes it well enough, but my wife and I drive it more often than he does. Just let me know if it’s OK when you decide to sell it and maybe we can work something out.
No need to disassemble the connection on the new airbag. Just push the line in and it seals. This is very well explained in BMW TIS. I did this job on my E61 two weeks ago and it's a 15 min job each side.
Love bringing cars back to life. Enjoyed that alex. Thanks buddy.
I hate when you know a bolt is going to fall in the Bremunda Triangle 😂😂
The worst is fixing a car outside. You're fishing a bolt out with steady hands like MacGyver diffusing a B0m8 with a hockey ticket. "Ping! Tckik chot" It's just gone. You get on your hands and knees feel the ground under the car... Nothing. You get the super magnet, still nothing. It went to another dimension.
It's even worse when it falls in the BERMUDA Triangle.
@@Dwigt_Rortugal 😂
When you hear it hit the ground. f yeah
I am a truck driver and a diesel mechanic. Since today's truck have air suspensions, I have dealt with a lot of air lines. While the video does call them a ferrule, they are also commonly referred to as barrels too. While most of the vinyl airlines I have worked on do not commonly have a split in the barrel, if you look at an American version, the crush ferrule does look like a barrel. The vinyl airlines we work on usually have a small pipe that goes into the airline, so the barrel has something to crush the vinyl line to. The whole fitting itself is called a compression fitting.
In plumbing we call that a ferrule as well.
I love watching your systematic approach working on cars! It's even helped me in other areas. Keep it up, man!
I'm loving the new intro, and I'm loving the new song. Keep up the great work, alex, you're the man

Great job alex!!!!! And maxx fantastic with the editing stepping that game up
I just bought my daughter who's turning 16 in a few months a 2017 fiat 500. It was diagnosed no compression at a garage, but I'm also a mechanic and it has a multi air 4 cylinder in it. I know the car sat awhile so I gambled on it. I got it to my shop and sure enough it just needed the brick that controls the valves purged. I got good oil pressure to the brick and it fired right up. Lol I do alot of this stuff too. Just never thought to make a show about it lol. Love your channel
A mechanic who bought a Fiat? 😅
Yeah if you don't work on them a lot, you don't know that you need to prime the multi-air system with oil if it's been sitting for a while. I'm sure a lot of perfectly good cars are sent to the wrecker because, truthfully, a lot of shops can't know every nuance of every car.
Brick ? Sorry don’t know what you mean.
@@Robsav-yx6vi it's the Multiair control system which controls the intake valves. A combination of solenoids and oil passages that varies the valve timing under the command of the ECU. And it looks like a brick.
@@Robsav-yx6vi you heard him, a brick! 🧱
Will I make it a full tank of gas before it breaks again?
Hi Alex !
If we are lucky, if not we get more content 😂
Well, you are a great mechanic. That Bmw does not stand a chance
It won't break again. This is a known fix for many vehicles.
Full tank🤔 30min🤣
Loving this music and graphics Alex!!!
Excited to see the detail. Great find!
I loved it when you said the car was totaled at "only 113,000 miles".
In the 60's and the 70's, If you got over 75,000 on a car you were doing good. They never went that far.
That's true
I remember five digit odometers. Manufacturers didn't expect you to pass 100k
The European Union forced the manufacturers to hit at least 250k km (if I remember correctly) before any major works was required to an engine.
I grew up on the south side of Chicago in the 60's. I believe that less than half of the households owned a car
It just wasn't necessary to own a car in the city. There were small stores about every 2 blocks and major stores every half mile. Walking to the store with your kids and a stroller or a little cart was quite common.
Your jobs were close because the bus systems were reliable and convenient.
It was a different world just a short time ago.
My daily driver is a 1977 Ford F150 with 88,000 on the original engine and trans.
Alex, for me as a German it's really very funny to hear you speak German: „Intacoola“ 😂
Brilliant video, thanks Alex.
I am addicted, to this channel. Have to get my fix every saturday evening.
I dig the “80’s” logo! But I kinda miss the original one too.
Another excellent and educational video, Alex!
We mix it up every so often
legitstreetcars, quite simply, the best, most likeable guy on utube.period.
Great troubleshooting video!
Alex - as always you not only fix the car as you always do, but you showed everyone how to do a repair by yourself and save $200 per hour for labor. I have an Audi A7 which I love (I know when they break it’s expensive and it sucks), but the BMW looks good and would be a great trip car for 4 people. Unfortunately I am not a BM’er fan because they break all the time!
The wedding band is a ferrule.
Or olive
Nice work Alex! I'm honestly not that big on the looks myself, It sacrifices cargo space for styling that is questionable... Still, for what you've got into it, it's a pretty cool vehicle.
Finished the Vid Alex! Congrats on The Bimmer and WELL Deserved!!!
Awesome videos bro
A little trick for recounting the intercoolers... I grind a slot in the bottom mounting hole so I can thread in the bottom bolt and then install the cooler. Makes alignment easy
Been refreshing the channel daily waiting for this!! So stoked!
Ales on Saturdays bro
The new opening is official. What a growth from the early days of this channel. Happy 4 U Dog.
Great result. Well done Alex.
I vote you give the X6 to Max. He deserves a cherry ride, for all the hard work he does in the edits
Always look forward to your new videos Alex. Keep them coming! 😎👍 Thanks!
In Romania for the most expensive petrol we pay 98 USD for 14.7 US gallons. You are still doing much better than us price wise.
Love the 80’ vibe intro. One of my favorite channels
You are the best presenter on UA-cam car repair videos, and I'm an Anglo so naturally very picky concerning US presentations, keep it up Alex.
When they came out with American Top Gear, I think most of us here in The States stayed loyal to the UK one. I was bummed when Jeremy gave them the excuse to sack him. We in North America thank you for faithfully paying for your television licenses during the original Top Gear years.
the wedding band seal is called an olive.
Yep in the UK we call them an olive as well
As an AMG/American car enthusiast, touché on realising that although your X6 is an M sport, it isn't an M and you said you would remove the M sticker. Respect, from an M5 F10 owner 👏
*Touché
LOVE the new intro 😊
Before you remove the M badge you should check the VIN to see if it as an M sport pkg. BMW has been making M-Sports since the early 90's.
X6 didin't have M Sport Package back in those days.
Even longer actually, though it used to be called "M tech" etc
no such thing for this model x6
The highlight of my Saturday mornings! I'm ready to see more GTR episodes though, and the seldom Wednesday videos are the best surprises of the week. Keep up the great work Alex!

@@LegitStreetCars hey Alex, what Autel model is it?

As a BMW’s fan I really actually like the X6, especially the V8, it’s like an X5 for those that don’t really need the trunk space. A cool looking pavement prowler with bags of presence.

Max, I like the new intros. This one had an 80's vibe. You could do themes for the car types. 80's, 90's etc. Or maybe countries of origin, European, Asia, Merica... Great video guys as always.

Great job on this car, cant wait to see more👍🇮🇹
Gas is around $3.79 for 93 here in Miami, FL. I believe you can get the rear bench seat to sit 3, maybe swap it from an X5, they’re the same.
Any SUV of today reminds me of the 2000 Pontiac Aztek - Motor Trend magazine dubbed it the "Ugliest Car in the World". I first saw one at a car show with tent set-up...the sales person told me "in the future everyone will drive one of these...". He was right.
Sadly
LMAO the x6 is considered the first coupe SUV but the aztek is the true originator
Loved the 80's retro into. Awesome video
Excellent video
The disposable muffin tin and Sharpie method is a Godsend when working with tons of different fasteners. Also always video if you can. Makes it so easy to go back and see exactly how things were before touched. It's too easy to forget things for long jobs, especially ones that go multiple days.
I find myself cheering for Alex easily finding and fixing things like the bad coil issue on this complicated "Ultimate Driving Machine". As Always, May God Bless you and yours! 😇
Another trick to hold the bolt is just put a plastic bag or any thin wrap plastic between the socket and bolt and tear off excess, will hold it tight in the socket and you can move it any way you like
28:18 The butyl tip is why I watch all your videos even if I’m not really interested in the car (like this one). Your channel is the only one I watch purely to see you disassemble / reassemble.
Was just watching a amg wagon video then you upload and save my morning. Love Lsc videos.
39:35 There are a few articles and videos regarding 5-seater conversions for the E71 X6 so you might want to start with that. I also thought, maybe you can just replace the whole 2nd row seats to that of an X5 which do not have the cubby holes in the center, after all they're basically twins (E70 X5 and E71 X6) so there should be some interchangeability across those two. I could be wrong but worth a try I guess.
I just googled it, the X5 has a 60-40 split 2nd row, the X6 does not. Can't say for sure if the bolt patterns match too so yeah might wanna look it up
I enjoyed this video! Great job!
I love that you are a trouble shooter not a parts changer… Yes we have to change parts but you search for causation and also recognize engineering failures and explain solutions!
I don’t mind the shape of the X6 I see it far more as a comfortable performance tourer than an SUV
Well done 👍 I love your work you and Streten should definitely work together. When these were new I wasn’t a fan looks wise but now that suv coupe cross over has grown on me.
Had the same issue with my F10 N55 engine, just cleaned them up and they work like a charm, you can see instantly how engine becomes silent and smooth 😊

I had two 2013 BMW X6's in the last few years. Some of the greatest cars I've ever owned. Never had any big issues and they ran amazing. One was even a Individual X6 Performance Edition. Wish I didn't sell it.
I do t like Trae types of crossovers, but the X6 I have always loved the look. Just think it looks slick and fast.

Awesome video as always! Having myself fell for the appeal of how cheap many once very expensive, safe, and luxury laden German vehicles there are, and knowing this is magnified by the very real fear of complex and expensive, if not nearly impossible repair, often regardless of overall condition I have participated myself. Love the gamble paying off....(so far:)
As far as looks, that X6 has grown on me as well since it came out. Yet by far my favorite BMW SUV is the 2002-2003 X5 4.6is. A form and function factory M vehicle with a N/A V8, the right modifications, cool clean look, and huge for the time staggered 5 spoke wheels and tires....worthy of a spot imo...
Why do I love watching Alex repair bmws so much. We miss the deloreon, put a twin turbo on it.
We love watching him work on literally ANYTHING because he's the most real, down to earth guy on UA-cam.

Funny, my mother in law has a 2012 Honda Accord (as so many others do).. and she had an engine light and a very rough idle with no power driving, her variable valve timing solenoid was clogged or, well reading bad.. she called Honda and they wanted her to bring it in, giver her a donor car, minimum $800 up to $1200 for the repair, PLUS anything else they found on the way, belt, oil change, plugs, you know the deal.. yeah.. I spent a half hour and got the belt off (not easy) pulled the VVT solenoid, cleaned it, tested it with an old tool battery, was like yeah it works, the screen was TOTALLY clogged though..
