Just bought a new Raleigh Motus for my retirement! I'm really pleased with the sheer quality of every part of this bike. Having said that i have bought good cars cheaper!
Hub or Mid motor or IGH / Cadence or Torque / Chain or belt Most reviews and comparisons are made w/ bike's spec itself only under circumstance wide open area either on flat or hills. However, "in terms of which is better/efficient" could be totally different in certain situations including myself, those who live in heavy traffic city dealing w/ cars, signals and bunch of people each block that requires stopping and starting on a frequent basis. As someone mentioned below, Mid-motor could be pain in the ass shifting gears constantly which possibly could also end up spending more $$ maintenances switching chains/drivetrain more often without getting full benefit of Mid-motor's advantage in heavy traffic area. (on the other hand, I heard Mid-motor has more range then Hub w/ same battery spec ?) How about IGH with belt ? Is it considerably heavier then Hub / Mid motor ?
I've been looking at Cube and Canyon mountain / offroad e-bikes and i'm impressed with the Raleigh Centros - and i've found it on offer at £2300.00. no mention of the torque or the warranty?
I always fail to see the point of an electric bicycle unless a person is handicapped or too frail to ride a proper bike. These heavy sh!t bikes are awful to move without battery power. A lame brained waste of time. I'd get an electric moped instead. I enjoy riding my bike with my own generated energy in order to get a proper work out. That's the spirit of cycling.
Typical response of someone who hasn't ridden on properly I ride my normal road bike around 200 miles a week for work However weekends I'm on my EMTB up in the Welsh hills and I fooking love it. Bikes are the mutts nuts
I'm 70 years old and whilst not "handicapped" or particularly "frail", one of my knees can no longer cope with long runs on an ordinary bike. You come across as a bit of a tosser.

Totally for on-board e-bikes , not so crazy about drop bar e-bikes and absolutely no on e-mtb earn your turn
Modum I guess, been thinking of a good ebike for a few months now, but these are so far out of my price range lol.
cycle to work scheme?
50 miles on 250wh is just not honest. That is about 70 watts of assistance which is not much.
The 250W is just a nominal figure to be legal. The Nm assistance figure is a better comparison between ebikes
I know what you mean. It would have to be flat for a 250wh battery to work for miles miles....
My Ribble Endurance SL e has a 250W battery & I did a 50 mile ride in Eco & got home with exactly 50% charge left.

Not very bright
The spirit of cycling is to encourage others to ride, not discourage them.
