Proof that we deserve the name…Wood Wasters! Nice job!
Thanks, Mark. guess I think of it as saving wood!
@@MikePeaceWoodturning :
I like the way you think better : )
You are braver than me! Cheers, Alan.
😁
I was holding my breath for the last 5 minutes!
Me too!
Nicely turned mike
Thanks! I have a link in the description for the longer tutorial.
Looks great and nice save when the top slipped
Yes it was!
You have been taking lessons from Cindy Drozda. Very nice Mike. I thought you were going to lose it near the end. Good recovery. Thank you for sharing. Have a great day and stay safe.
Thanks, Geln. You as well.
Watching you turn and sand this long thin stem is really something. All I can say is "WOW!" Thanks!'
Glad you enjoyed it
Love your videos!
Glad you like them!
I could never get away with that WOW THANKS
Keep practising. You will get there.
Bonjour,........Formidable, Un grand bravo!!!!!
Merci Beaucoups
Well done Mike. For stems this thin I usually tape it to the live center and pull rather than push. Gives the work just enough support to keep it from wobbling all over. These are pretty cool pieces. I need to do some of these.
I should try that. Thanks for the tip.
Nice touch!
Thanks!
Beautiful work Mike.
Glad you like it
Oops, sorry Mike! My bad. Cheers, mate.
Nicely done, a bit sketchy near the end, but you pulled it back and finished it like a champ, well done.
Thanks, Thomas 👍

Love it! The classical music is a wonderful touch! I like listening to classical and jazz while turning myself, it's a great way to relax! Thanks for the sweet inspiration man, blessings and love from Upstate New York ❤️💛💚
Glad you enjoyed it!
I find that shining a bright light through the top from the tail stock end helps youto judge the thickness if you're using green wood.
I did buy a LED sewing machine light and will give that a try, thanks.
Very interesting! Does the stem warp by itself over time? I was thinking "How in the world do you do an offset turning that thin?"
The answer is in the link to the tutorial video shown at the end. Sometimes you just have to watch to the end.
What kind of wood are you using? Just beautiful
This was hickory from my back yard.
Hey Mike another great video. Please let us know the thickness and the overall height of the stem and the podlet. Thanks,
You watched to the end and saw the link to the instructional video, right?
@@MikePeaceWoodturning Of course not!. But I will now. I guess the old adage still applies "When all else fails read the instructions." Best regards,
😀
Awesome work Mike. Were you able to make this in your first try or did the stem break on some earlier attempts?
I have made 4 successfully of hickory. My failure was shown in the tutorial. It failed because of the poor wood, poplar.
@@MikePeaceWoodturning thank you. Love your work. Keep it up. 😁 👍 👌 🇦🇺
Very cool. Nice choice for music; you can never go wrong with the Brandenburg Concertos
Thanks, Mark! I have tended to avoid music as It seemed to get negative comments early on. Maybe too loud or wrong music!
What species of wood are good for this project? I like the tight bark rim.
I think most wood that is green except for poplar. I would not want a species with very thick bark such as sourwood and some others. This was hickory but pear would be wonderful.
Would Arbutus (Madrona) work for this?
I have never turned green madrona. I think most any green wood wood do.
