This is hands down THE BEST instructional video I've seen and I've looked at least 1000 square feet of them......and a shout out to the men and women who have, or currently are, serving THE BEST country in the world. May God Bless America.
Great timing on this. My 105ex arrived yesterday and was out spraying water all around when the mail carrier arrived with your nozzle assembly. Quick install, checking the 64 oz flow time and was off and running (trying to walk slow enuff) for calibration. Love the nozzles! Gonna make my half acre much more manageable. Thanks, Pete!
It's easier for me to start the calibration with a known amount of water, 1 gal, rather than a known amount of area. I spray 1 gallon and then measure the area covered. With those numbers determined I can calculate the amount of chemical to use per gallon and the amount of water required to cover the treatment area. Works for me. Different strokes for different folks.
I've seen quite a few videos on sprayer calibration here on UA-cam and none of them used my method. I like to believe I think outside the box. But, I could just be an oddball. Yep.
I have the sprayer in the video. When would you use the air induction tip as opposed to the blue or yellow tips that came in the box? I use the red air induction most times, but think I’m over applying product.
Another great video, I really like Speedzone for killing weeds and if it can't be shipped to someones home state then I would recommend Bonide Weed Beater Ultra.
This is one of the best explanations I've heard on sprayer calibration. Seriously, and I've watched a lot of them lol. I'm going to be applying pre emergent for the first time this spring in a few weeks (zone 5b) and I just got a 4 gallon pump backpack sprayer to do the job. Do you think I'm in over my head with the size of the lawn I have? I have almost 12,000 sq ft so I know I should fill the sprayer 3 times for 1 gallon per 1,000. Any suggestions so that it doesnt take me half a day? Now I just have to make sure I mix at the proper rate with prodiamine for the 4 month app rate because I'll be doing some major reno and overseeding mid August, so I definitely dont want to over apply! But I still want to hammer the weeds like mad to make room for some new quality grass in my lawn. Going to be a busy summer I think but I'm up for the challenge!
Great video. Maybe after about 10 times I'll get it. I just have trouble with the spraying math and granular math. 5 lbs nitrogen here. 5 lbs this there. Lol.
my sprayer puts out 1 gal in 4.5 minutes . Thats like crawling speed. For each thousand I would need to double the application . Maybe i need a better nozzle . 4.5 minutes seems to be super slow . A normal pace could not be achieved that would be more like a step per 3 seconds. whats your take on this ? thanks
@@GCITurf Echo hand pump 401MS . I'm thinking of getting a Tee Jet nozzle. can you advise . this is for liquid fertilizer 20 0 0 My phosphorus is very high and potassium somewhat high . Soil tested by agr lab . Houndog overseeded last fall 6000 sq ft .. PH is 6.7 I want to give it a 1/8 to 1/4 lb of liquid fert to get it going . Just not too much for early natural root growth . Thanks
@@oldtimedrumcorps if you want more volume from your sprayer the only way you’ll get it is to upgrade to a battery sprayer. No matter what spray tip you use you’ll only be able to pump it so hard. My recommendation is check into these sprayers - gciturfacademy.com/collections/diy-spray-equipment
I don’t understand why you wouldn’t want the tank nozzle and screen? I would think that you would at least want the nozzle to suck up the product that is in the bottom. I just received my sprayer yesterday and it had a defective nozzle and screen. Sprayer Plus is mailing me a new part. I didn’t want to spray without it.
I accidentally ordered a non battery sprayer last year. Hand pump only and it’s too late to exchange plus I’ve used it. Oh well.... at least if I have a big forearm I have a legit excuse 😁
I just bought this sprayer and was curious why you didn't use the black filter that goes inside of the tank? Do they clog, does it just work better without it?
Hey Pete, Do you know of any hose end sprayer that has a larger bottle size than 1qt? I have like 16k sq ft of Bermuda and takes forever to spray the Next products over the lawn. I have tried a back pack sprayer but its too slow. I like the hose end sprayer.
I know your pain my 20 gallon sprayer had a cracked fed pipe and I sprayed a 73 thousand square foot lawn with my pump back pack yesterday while the temps were favorable. 4 gallons at a time . any one have a used left arm for cheap.
The Chapin g362 has only a 16 Oz bottle but it looks like the only one you might be able to find a larger bottle for. The tubing is a standard 1/4 inch so you shouldn't have trouble extending it. I change the tubing, using the regular size bottle, as soon as I get one because the curved hose as it comes off the roll at the home center lets you place it right near the back edge of the bottle, it pick up every drop. Good luck with your hunting.
you use less water to start (0.25gal/1000) to get 8k sqft coverage out of 2-gal sprayer... which means you gotta step on it :) No strolling around for that rate. Oh, and the nozzle must allow for that speed while still getting the coverage right so think wider swath, faster speed..... the calibration must be spot on. Great for wide open spaces, IMO.
Lol. I would imagine the orange one “stopping up” since it doesn’t have a hole. My black piece was damaged in the box. Waiting on a new part. I would think that he would at least want to use the black one without the screen to get the “material” (product) out of the bottom.
@@TheZinnmaster The orange shipping/storage plug label states to reinstall "for long term storage...to retain moisture". With Pete's busy schedule, I guess there's never any "long term"... haha Waiting to see how the screen filter reacts with the Humic12. Might have to pull a Pete and discard mine, too!
First of all, your walking demo revealed that your spray pattern was not 2 feet. Then, when you were walking towards the street the spray patterns were right next to each other but when you were walking towards the house they were separated by where you were walking. Otherwise, nice video.
My professional lawn care company applies liquid products by spaying up, not down like this video. The flow is like rain, not a mist. They are spaying from a truck mounted tank.

Pete thanks for what you do to help us with learning about our lawns. Just bought that sprayer off your link and code.
Very grateful for you making this detailed video to show how its done!

How do you depressurize the tank when done?
My Field King has a red pressure release valve that you pull up to release the pressure. I'm sure Sprayers Plus has one as well.
Thanks Pete, just got the sprayer and your tips arrive Saturday!
Thanks for the video Pete! Just got my pump sprayer a week ago! Thanks for the tips! God bless
Your video really helps. Thank you so much. Love the shirt.
Great content! I just bought the green one I’m so pumped to use it and I will calibrate. Thank you
Great info Pete and perfect timing for all us getting out in the lawn this spring. Thanks!

love the loveland products measuring cup .
So for each lawn I will need to fill the tank with water and walk the yard in order to determine how much water I will need?
What’s up Pete?
Finally no rain.
Finally made it😁. Great video again Pete. 👍👍

This ought to be on the Sprayers Plus website as well!
Pete, please make a video of your custom sprayer tips, live spraying. Don’t know what we are buying with only the website. Thanks

Nice video quality :)
What kind of sprayer would you recommend for large jobs, per say 100,000 square ft.
a skid sprayer or ride on sprayer if you can afford it..if not one of those tow behind sprayers from a northern tool
For 100ksqft I'd look for something close to 100Gallon boom sprayer.
Anyone know a decent pump sprayer with a good fan tip. (Or a pump that has an add on fan tip) I don’t care for batteries. Thanks
12:41 that a leafy type weed or crabgrass?
How does it spray 8,000 square feet with your nozzle that you designed
The way I calibrate it
you use less water to start (0.25gal/1000) to get 8k sqft coverage out of 2-gal sprayer... which means you gotta step on it :) No strolling around for that rate. Do you know of any good web site that I can order sprayer tip fits I have a backpack sprayer and need better fitting
Pete the man hang tight. I have something VERY cool coming just for you friend 😎
Looking for your grass seed..dont see it
Pete why don’t you use the orange piece? I have the large sprayers plus model. Just wondering
gets stopped up from time to time
The orange plug is a "storage" plug to keep pump internals from drying out. There is a black piece that has the filter on it. (on my 105ex)
Lol. I would imagine the orange one “stopping up” since it doesn’t have a hole. My black piece was damaged in the box. Waiting on a new part. I would think that he would at least want to use the black one without the screen to get the “material” (product) out of the bottom.

Bro, drink a red bull before your videos
Dirty first
I like your videos but they are too long. Keep them short I may watch more lol. At least 5 min. Good info.
Dang I wish there was a video on this subject without all of the excess talk...lol.

yep...chances are they are spraying at 1 or 2g/1000...we have several trucks that spray that way as well
