Personally i like my BMX with a loud af hub and i like my MTB to be quite af. The sound of tires ripping over dirt in nature is so much more satisfying.
I prefer the silence of the onyx but I also have a couple Vault hubs and those are definitely my preference when I’m not trying to pay $500 for a vesper or a classic.

The Mavic and Shimano sound tolerable. Onyx (and Box Stealth or Tairin S1 - both hard to get) sound perfect though a lot more money).
