Just did my pre-release, went WBRG. The fixing is soooo good in the set, never had a set with this much fixing before. Going to make for alot of 5 colour soup decks
I went the full 5 colors at my Prerelease because I opened 9 nonbasic lands in my packs. I agree that there is a lot of potential for 4 or even 5 color decks in this format and it is going to be a lot of fun to play them!
This was very nice to prepare myself for the draft I'm attending! Trying to go for a red, black deck with a focus on casualty/blitz.

Some of these mythics are simply devastating. Had to face 2 lord xanders, a Vivien, a Urbrask. Some of these are brutal
Strong Mythics are not usually something to worry about in Draft because they do not come up super frequently. I'd much rather they put the game ending Limited cards at Mythic than at Rare for example (and they've got to put them somewhere so Constructed players can be happy). Hopefully you get to experience playing with some of the Mythics yourself at some point!

hmm... we made some mock drafts on our discord server and played them out on duellist and i have to say goldhound is a key card for the aggressive GR or BGR Decks
It feels like the sort of card that if it is playable will have one specific home instead of just being a generally solid card, and it is the sort of card that in my opinion will be vastly overplayed because people like one drops and it has a lot of text. That's my two cents at least.

As always your top commons really get me thinking, thanks for taking the time to respond in full to comments regarding them.
My question: What was the reason for you to not include Luxurious Libation in the Combat Tricks section?
With regards to combo's: In a deck with Stimulus Package and Glittermonger, I've also enjoyed including a single copy of Capenna Express as an alternate way to turn treasures into board presence. #Streetwise
I accidentally skipped over Luxurious Libation, good call. Luckily it is an Uncommon which means it is often not worth playing around anyway.

My prerelease went great too, went UBW splashing red for double Cormela and opened myself two trilands and a Dusk Mangler, some fliers, some nice removal and a couple Casualty spells. Rooftop Nuisance is the truth btw, it feels like Village Rites and Frostveil Ambush’s love child

Also, Security Bypass might usually be a trap card, but watch out for when someone decides to combo it with Disciplined Duelist 👀
@@TsujiCross Security bypass is definitely not a trap card. I've won lots of games with it and lost to it a few times....best card to put it on is the Illuminator Virtuoso 😎

I'm so glad you enjoyed it! What do you mean by honorable mentions? If you're referring to Top Commons the reason I stick to three is that oftentimes the Common power level drops off and becomes relatively flat after the first three (and sometimes even after just the first one or two).

the goldhound is pretty nice if you have security rhox
Going down a card to cast Security Rhox a turn ahead of schedule is going to be pretty costly if they have any interaction. This is actually one of the reasons why I think Goldhound is a trap, because plays like that look appealing when they are often suboptimal.

The only thing I don't agree with is the 3 color mana fixing creatures, they are really easy to play outside the family. If you are playing 2 of their colors they can provide the third color and fix 2 of your colors in the meantime.
Thank you for pointing that out! For some reason I thought that you couldn't use the land for all 3 colors to help you cast them. However, I still think that the cards are not as valuable if you aren't playing all three colors because spending turn 2 to make a land into a dual land (if you don't care about the third color) instead of a triland is significantly less powerful. Additionally, one of their benefits is that they can be solid cards to just cast normally if you topdeck them in the mid to late game, but if you are using them without having their third color it basically adds 2 to their mana cost because you have to first exile them before you can cast them. So even if they are playable outside of their specific family, they will be far less effective.

Good overview. I don’t think goldhound will be a trap card - cheap mana ability in a set that wants you to be 3+ colors seems like too much utility to be trap. Also has abilities that wear +1/+1 counters and combat tricks well. Seems okish.
Warm Welcome feels a little too expensive for what it does to be a top common to me. Maybe if it could grab lands too, but otherwise seems a tad narrow for 3 cmc.
Will be interesting to see how it all shakes out
I'm glad you liked my video! I think Goldhound will potentially be playable in some decks, but it is the sort of card that I like to caution folks against because it is also the sort of card that tends to be vastly overplayed simply because it has a lot of text and people like one drops. Its also a pretty miserable card any time outside of turn one (and really wants to be on the play), and as a result I just don't think it will measure up. Also, if you are playing 3 colors than it becomes less likely that you will have the correct mana on turn 1 to play this sort of card, or it will create tension with wanting to play one of your taplands early. Overall, it just looks like a trap to me. On the topic of Warm Welcome, I mostly picked it for #2 because Green doesn't have great alternatives and because I think the 1/1 that replaces itself with a creature is probably going to feel nice for minor sacrifice synergies and for knocking off Shield Counters. I don't think Green really has any standout Commons after Jewel Thief, but I'd rather take a cheaper "value" card than something more expensive early in my draft. I'm excited to see how it all shakes out too!
I guess I’ll need to see how easy it is to fix mana in draft - how fast lands go. Seems like a one mana card that can fix for a splash color (help cast the 3 mana wedge spells on curve), chip in a bit of damage early w/ menace, and stone wall x/1s w/ first strike is going to be closer to a solid playable than a trap. Could be wrong of course.
I think Glittermonger is more likely to be a top common in green than Warm Welcome. A good sized butt that poops out treasures every turn for 4 mana seems more desirable that a 3 mana 1/1 that maybe selects another creature from top 5. Hurt so bad if you whiff tho. I’d take Prizefight over Warm Welcome too. I’m seeing Welcome as filler, but maybe citizen tokens will be more useful than I’m thinking
@@HO-zi5qe Using Goldhound for mana is going to be a losing proposition a lot of the time I think. Also, with the ability to look at 5 cards, Warm Welcome is not going to whiff a lot if you have around 15 or so creatures. Getting a creature is also potentially better than just drawing a card, which can make up for whiffing sometimes. I guess we'll see how it goes once we start playing with them!
I will say Warm Welcome being instant speed makes it more playable than it would be as a sorcery. Ya it will likely hit more often than it will miss if you have a decent creature count and I don’t think it’ll be unplayable, but it will inevitably miss sometimes and id feel better about it if it could hit on lands too. 3 mana for a 1/1 token is bad. Will see tho, you could be nailing it
