What an interesting interview, living a hard life but still a lot of wisdom to share, hope he gets a hand up.
Im not a homeless but from listening to all.the people who are homeless how valuable everything are in life doesnt matter how little the value but it makes the worlds difference. May the Lord bless you with goodness
Suggested to WC government: provide tax breaks or subsidies to businesses or even households who employ, train, or take care of homeless persons. Like the wise man said, give homeless people a goal and let them be part of society again, then they feel human again. I would like to buy Richard a pair of glasses. Think of a way to make these type contributions possible.
Capsule hotels like in Japan would be a good idea
The organization who delivers the shower service is UTurn, they are a fabulous organization looking after the homeless
The NPO that provides the showers are actually 'Viva Con Agua' and the portable shower initiative is called 'Nina Manzi'. They just partner with U-Turn sometimes.
Looks like a sincere old man❤ Sorry mate, I hope things look up for you. May your pen business flourish💪 Be safe and bliksem those gangsters
I used to buy pens from him when he was in the city. Always clean and neat and never pushy. How does one connect with him to help him.
Richard unfortunately does not have a bank account or cell phone. He however said people help him via e-wallet. He is normally stationed on the corner of Klipfontein Road and Liesbeek Parkway in Mowbray. You can also email me and I can take money/goods etc to Richard: homelessincapetown@yahoo.com
I think she should have asked if he had a bank account so people can assist.Hopefully Phakathi Foundation can try and help.Stay strong
Next time I will ask that. The problem with homeless people is they don't have ID documents (Richard confirmed this also) as everything on them gets stolen including wallets and cards etc. So it is difficult then to donate to bank accounts. I am thinking of starting a Snap Scan for each individual member then they sell pens or whatever and the cash gets dropped off each week.
This has never happened during the apartheid government, it brings tears to my eyes
Coz THEY were exclusively looked after
Very articulate!!! Interesting, but sad.
Can the Catholics perhaps explain why they won't let this man (and others) into the Church?
Because too many priests and church staff have been attacked.
I need pens. I'd like to buy some from Richard. I'll lookout for him in Mowbray. I still use pen and paper often. Thank you. 😊
That is so wonderful! Thank you so much for the comment 💚🙏
Very kind of you and thoughtful
Why don't you set up a website selling pens obo persons living on the street? Something big could be on your journey...
@@asianetix Agreed.
You seems like a nice and good person, definitely something wrong in our country. If people like you can stay strong after your sad and terrible loss it would be wonderful to touch lives like yours. Giving people something small to do. To at lease feel worthy again. There is so many fraud and unemployment and you should be able to get a grand. Lots of people getting grands get it vomiting fraud. I also don't get a grand, but will stay without it paying my taxis, but then it must ho to people that really must get it. And not by having money and still claiming the grants. Iam so far from you but wish that I good help you, and others who really need to been looked after.
Human power is of no use. Gods spirit that gives life
Who hosts these interviews? I'd love to speak to you. I have often wanted to approach homeless people and find out what lead them to being where they are. I am a teacher. One of the subjects I teach is LO

According to Richard he doesn't have an ID to apply for a grant. Everything gets stolen from homeless people including cards, money etc.
Richard since you are of German descent can you not get pension
I spoke to Richard today and he said he needs an SA ID to apply for a German pension so he needs R180 to do so. So if you are in Mowbray maybe chat to him and donate/find out.
How can I make a contribution towards this gentleman?
Richard is usually on the corner of Liesbeek Parkway and Klipfontein Road intersections in Mowbray, Cape Town selling pens. He is there most mornings and afternoons. He said in the video that he sleeps at the 'Catholic church' which seems to be in upper Mowbray. He does unfortunately not have a cell phone.

I can drive over to Richard and try find out if he has a bank account? Or would you like to donate a cell phone or something? Problem is everything gets stolen from homeless people. Maybe email me to discuss: homelessincapetown@yahoo.com
