  • Honda. I've loved them since the 80's when I got my first. An XR250. I've owned MANY bikes over the years, and I've got to say, the CRF450L might be the ultimate dualsport/light adventure bike.
    I didn't go over all the mods on the bike in the video, so here is the list;
    2019 CRF450L
    -Vortex ECU
    -Adventure Spec Tower
    -Trail Tech Voyager Pro with coolant temp, tach and powered dock
    -A to Z Composites carbon fiber fork guards
    -FMF Q4 full exhaust with power bomb
    -P3 Carbon fiber power bomb/header guard
    -Recluse clutch cover (NIB recluse clutch, just not sure I'll use it)
    -IMS billet Core foot pegs
    -Emperor Racing radiator guards
    -Emperor Racing skid plate
    -IMS 3 gallon fuel tank
    -Scaggs rear tail rack
    -Emperor Racing tail tidy with enduro hinged license plate holder
    -Seat Concepts saddle
    -Acerbis X-Factor hand guards
    -Dirt tricks steel rear sprocket
    -Motion Pro air bleed valves on forks
    -Works Chassis Lab titanium engine mounts
    -Double Take mirrors
    -San Diego Powerhouse thermostat delete kit
    -San Diego Powerhouse kickstand safety bypass
    -Phoenix handlebar and risers
    -Tusk anodized oil filter cover
    -BeRad front brake reservoir cover
    -Works Connection EZ oil drain system
    Left to do will be a suspension tune up by EVO suspension, and decide what tires are going to live on the bike if I find I don't like the Tusk D-sports currently on there. So far I'm not a fan.

    Most excellent man! As a WR450 rider I can say you’ll feel good out on the trails. 450s seem to be a sweet spot. Mine with all the street legal mods still only weighs 280lbs.

    Glad to see you picked the 450l. One other mod that really helps these bikes is the flywheel weight. Looking forward to watching your adventures.

    I have both the AT and the CRF450l. It is an excellent trail bike. Super capable for single track. Short tours would be fine but the AT is the right bike for longer trips. Enjoy your bike!

    Check out Green Chile Adventure Gear for a luggage solution. I’ve got the scramble rack and a couple bag snakes for my AT and it works great! Did a 10000km trip from Vic. BC to Durango CO and back. Simple and works. Nice new bike! Thinking of doing the same.

    Try Michelin tracker tires, they work everywhere except sand, and get okay mileage.

    Probably not. It has a 'full on' motocross bike maint schedule. 5 hour mile oil changes, 1800 mile valve adjustment. Only has 550 cc's of oil for the engine. No cush drive. 14,000 mile complete engine rebuild. I'm not sure what it was built for, it hasn't been a big seller for those reasons.

    • @ExploreAdventureMoto
      @ExploreAdventureMoto  2 дні тому

      Sort of depends how/where/what terrain it’s ridden on but I do agree. The service intervals are far too small for a bike that has this potential. Larger side case covers would help, maybe an oil cooler as well. Could have gone with a dry sump system like the drz has and have the oil in the frame also. Other than that, it’s oil changes on the trail with something to carry the used fluid in till next stop to dispose of

    Dork's old bike? No need to try newer DSports to know whether you like them. You don't. They suck. Especially the front tire. You can replace the front tire then keep the rear tire until it's completely worn out and then replace it with something you like. I've used Shinko MX216s and Kenda Trackmaster IIs on my 450L. Right now it's the Kendas. They're cheap enough even though the rear tire isn't long lasting and soft enough to change on the trail side with popsicle sticks if you forget your tire spoons. Not perfect but way better than the DSport tires.

      @@ExploreAdventureMoto I forgot to mention that since you already have the Rekluse available, it's worth a try. I got one about three weeks ago and it's a game changer. Turned a bike that was okay at tight single track into a real woods and single track weapon. The only downside is an increase in the weight of the clutch pull. But who cares? I only use the clutch lever when putting the bike in neutral, so maybe once per ride.... at the end. Otherwise, clutchless shifting and no more arm pump/tennis elbow. Easy enough to install and if you don't like it, easy enough to go back to stock. The Rekluse I have is the cheaper one, the Radius X 4.0. Maybe it's the newer 4.0 version of the EXP disc, but my bike still retains engine braking like stock while other bikes I've tried with the older Rekluse clutches sort of freewheel like a 2-stroke.
