Motocamping in a foreign country gone wrong
#motocamping #mensmentalhealth #motocrash
Not all trips turn out as planned. Moto traveling to Canada to do some motocamping in a foreign country for my first time, and it done gone wrong.
This video see's @DorkintheRoad , @SlowEddie and myself traveling to north island BC for the 1st ever Get Lost Find Yourself event in the area of Nimpkish Canada on Vancouver Island. The event was put together by an amazing group of people including our own @Crittermoto to support mens mental health. My trip, and my 2023 riding season was cut a bit short, as was the majority of my 2024 riding season changed in ways I could not have anticipated when the trip started. Sit back and enjoy the show. what is your D30 pads set up under your jersey?
Lol just measured my valves and came back to the part of the video where you say it’s always the left side intake valve. You are correct sir. Rest of mine are in spec
Ron swanson?
Good video mate 👍 helped me out
Yup...agree on 5 guys.... Never had Sonic
Good video. As far as using the tools I carry on the bike to do normal maintenance, I normally use the tools in my toolkit at least once at home to make sure they are adequate for the job but for daily at home maintenance I use the tools I have in my home tool chest. They are of higher quality and cause less wear to fasteners on the bike and to the tools themselves. That's my outlook on it anyway.
Just turned 68 and heading out on a 3000m trip next week. Watched Moto Giant and bought new riding gear head to foot. Ride safe out there.
Put it on 007 and itll set itself to 6 after a few rides
I decided to also vent my stator cover yesterday. I’ll be replacing the cover on my 2017 DCT model and hoping it’s the same procedure. Is that liquid gasket a specific one for the Twin or something that you recommend? Need to order the cover but want to make sure I have all the tools and parts ready.
I know this is an old ideo but what route did you ride? Old BDR route?
Brilliant video entertaining and relaxing viewing, well 👍🏻 from the England
Im not that much of a fan either, but you can buy a double/double meal for $10 vs the $18 big mac meal.
You claim that that ghost town was the only one left in Southern Oregon but near the Applegate Valley is also the old 3 building town of Buncom. It’s not as cool as what you saw but still cool.
Buncom is where we were at 🤷♂️
@@ExploreAdventureMoto wait! I’m gonna need to watch that again. I sit at my desk and watch while I work so I probably missed something…
@@ExploreAdventureMotohahahaha! I’m a dumb. I haven’t been there in ages but grew up around there so it’s pretty rad to see the spots you’re hittting up. Gonna have to take my bike down there soon I guess. Just gotta get outta this damn prison. I mean desk job…
I would like to ask, why did you use contact cleaner?
Hope you're doing well, Trav!
I think I like the Dork in the Road better, when he is second fiddle!
Love the choice of music! Rock on!
Next years BDR is on Mars!
🙏 "Promo sm"
I have a hanging idle carb has full clean and rebuild new cables Starts fine no big just the dam idle hangs new throttle tube too
Excellent video mate , helped me out heaps
Thanks for the tips. I will try some of these.
I found by accident…….. so awesome guys!! I subbed, thank you!! Currently have a Harley, I do want to see our great country on the backroads, I’m currently looking …….. Would a Himalayan be able to traverse what y’all traveled? I have lots of videos to watch, so excited to have come across your channel! Whooop whooop!
A Himalayan could do it. Would be slower going and have to pick lines more precisely just due too suspension travel limits, but it could do it. Himi’s are mountain goats when it comes to back country stuff.
so honda now saves money on proper gaskets? :)
We want to say great video but we all know the outcome. It was tough watching the beginning knowing what was to happen. We’re excited to see Windy Waters in person this coming September. Not sure if you will be going back but we hope so.
No need to remove some oil since the new spring is thicker/takes up more volume?
What bike is everyone else riding?
Looks easy. Still wary about trying it myself. To afraid it will take to long and life will get in the way. Seems to every weekend I had something planned with the family and it wasn't working on bikes like I hoped.
I’m looking at rt6 GPX file on garmin gps64. It’s broken into several pieces. Unsure how to see the order of events. I’m looking at west to east travel. How do I piece the file together? Please advise. TIA
Other than don't ride a big bike in the heat on a difficult trail, what did you do wrong? What would you do differently?
I would have spent much more time getting in shape. I was nowhere near ready for that ride big bike or not. Year before I rode the WABDR, half of it solo due to having to leave the group early and come back to finish and all of the route without issues because I was in better shape. Take fitness level serious
@@ExploreAdventureMoto ...true that. I'm turning 60 this year and I'm sure you know it takes a lot more effort and focus the older you get. I bought a functional trainer from Costco and overhauled my diet....it works. Now if I could stop drinking beer. See you out there.
Keep on keepin" on, it gets better.
Nice to see you getting better, keep working the recovery thing and get back riding when you feel it is time. Thanks for the update.
Glad you made it out of there safe! Heatstroke is no joke, you're a stud for pulling through on a big bike. Well done! I have ridden a lot out there solo and you definitely want to be prepared and in shape. I was underprepared once and "bonked" really hard about 15 miles from the hot springs campground while riding solo, crashed twice because my muscles wouldn't work, had to ditch my bike and walked (ahem, stumbled) like a zombie back. It can be very scary. SE Oregon will humble you. These aren't directed at you, nor a critique and are more for awareness/discussion. A key to any activity with exertion in the heat is not just water but water WITH ELECTROLYTES, this is so key. Electrolyte depletion can and usually does render you useless. Also taking constant little sips from your water bladder is another key, if you end up being thirsty it's too late. Constant sips. A good rule is keeping a fist full of fluid in your stomach most of the time. Not wearing black in these conditions also helps! The BDR folks would put a few alerts on the first two sections for this coming summer season. Number 1, informing people that they should leave EARLY to be well on their way before the heat starts. This is a good rule in general when you know its gonna be a hot day. Number 2, checking the Hart Mountain website for road closure notifications, they keep this very up to date. Had you guys known about this you would have known about the road closure and could have prepared for it with a reroute in advance. Hart Mountain, Steens, etc they keep the road conditions notices up to date because they don't want people getting in a jam way out there. Calling the ranger station a week or two out also helps, they have always answered or called me back. This is especially helpful for the Steens loop, because they grate the road every year (late June into July depending on the year) and if you time it right you can avoid gnarly washboard and have a freshly grated road! Ultimately riders should do their homework. Spread the word! Ride safe and thanks for the video as I think it will bring some needed awareness to this section.
I need to get new boots. I am still rockin my Astars Tech8's I got back in high school. . .and I am 35😂
217 always sucks....
I was worried when you shouted... LOL Glad to see you back on your feet! (Pun 100% intended.) Can't wait to see you back on the bike and having a blast.
7:20 Single track on a gs1250? Ooookay, buddy. You ain't gotta lie to kickit. 🤣🤣🤣
Sonic burgers are disgusting. In and Out is so much better but yes, 5 guys burgers are pretty good too
To each their own 🤷♂️ I wasn’t impressed with I/O enough to wait in line more than just the one time.
@@ExploreAdventureMoto I’m bringing you an In Out Burger to GL this year 😂
Awesome, dude! I'm looking at getting a pair, too. I've got the Belize ones currently. But I think I should grab something taller
Yeah I tried shorties for a tiny bit at the beginning of the ADV life, quickly went to full height boots. Need that shin coverage.
Hey we have the same model bike …except mine is a 2019 DCT….question for you, if you put yours on the center stand and spin the rear wheel with your hand, is your chain really quiet when rolling over the front sprocket?….mine is making noise…not a lot, but have have a ticking or knocking sound….while a spin forward and backward…I dont see excessive wear, or sharp teeth…can you test yours?
Is your chain dry? Maybe just needs a bit of lube. It does make some sound but nothing I haven’t heard on any other chain driven bike more or less.
Great adventure and video, perfect Sunday chill watching! Would love to tackle the US BDR routes!
6:26 Would have liked to see the terminal pins installed in the factory plug. Otherwise great video thanks for posting it!
Cheers fella!
Bin there did not do that… it is a horrible place to get to… just buy a thunderbox and thank me later…
Keep it up.
Thank you for sharing your experience. Your perseverance is motivational. I appreciate your positive attitude, sincerity and sense of humor. Wishing you a quick and full recovery.
How did you get the bike back to Oregon? Was it a problem getting it back with no rider on it?
The very kind folks with the adventure cooperative were gracious enough to bring it down with them on their way to CA
Hopefully non itchy boots. I know boooo
No boo. That was excellent!
Lookin’ good brotha!
Did you just ride right into the railroad track rut?
I explain it at the end of the video
