Peru is home to many amazing snakes! Most people are excited about anacondas, bushmasters or coral snakes, but there are many more! We filmed 20 snake species during our first trip to South America. The highest snake diversity is in the Amazon rainforest, but some cool snakes live also in Pacific deserts of Peru. In each episode we will show you 5 species.
Episode 2 - SNAKE SPECIES, AMAZON RAINFOREST
Green anaconda (Eunectes murinus)
Aquatic coral snake (Micrurus surinamensis)
Common whipsnake (Chironius exoletus)
Black-skinned parrot snake (Leptophis ahaetulla nigromarginatus)
Ornate snail-eater (Dipsas catesbyi)
Thank you Living Zoology. I hear your message of conservation loud and clear in your videos which are, in my opinion, the best nature videos I have ever seen. Allowing the sights and sounds of nature to speak for themselves without the distraction of human commentary or footage. It's as close as I can be without actually being there and I watch them over and over. Thank you again.
Thank you so much for your comment! We are super happy that you love our videos! Yes, conservation is very important and we try to have this message in our videos. The goal is to make the viewer feel like he/she is in the wild with us!
Beautifully filmed as always featuring some lesser known species. Many thanks.

Thank you, you too! :)
That coral snake has some moves
Yes, it has!
Another great video. I think the Anaconda is the largest snake of them all. Not the longest but nothing can beat it’s girth and weight.
Thanks a lot! Yes, Green anaconda is the largest snake on Earth! The 2-meters long adult male we found was still a light weight!
lovely work once again. The snail eater was the star Oof the show with its massive spots, what a doll. if i were retired from my job, i would buy a snail filled garden house, then cage in the yard with a mesh , fill it with snail and slug eaters and throw panacur or ivermectin in their water bowls/ponds , as i have heard they often die of parasites when captives ; it would be a great spot to sit, like being immersed ....in a LIVING ZOOLOGY video, and throwing in a 1.1 pair of Immantodes cenchoa wouldn't hurt . I'm looking fwd to your next ! i have photo herped in Thai, Bali, Java, Borneo, etc, and hope when Covid is [decided to be] erradicated , you'll do South east Asia, AKA Snake Heaven on Earth !!! I'm sure many of us can't wait to see your video work on Boiga, Trimeresurus, the many Pythons, as well as the ubiquitous O. hannah, and C. ornata/paradisi in action (flight) , et al . It'll be epic !
Thank you so much for your support! We certainly hope to visit Southeastern Asia in the future! :)
Knowing the difference between scarlet snakes, scarlet king snakes and coral snakes, snake #2 mixes it up a bit. I must say it is very beautiful specimen.
Thank you for watching!
please come to Brazil, im a brazilian biology studant(future herpetologist hehe), and i would love to watch those beautiful documentaries about our species that live in our biomes like the atlantic forest for exemple
We would love to visit Brazil in the future!

Nice Video but I feel So Scared From Snakes Honestly Thanks for the videos like this 😊❤️
Thanks for watching! Watch some more! 🙂
We mostly use Canon GX10.
Stunning videography, as always. Now that coral snake violates all the "rules". Red and yellow do not touch, and the snout is not black. It does have the fat lip look, however. And the ornery defensive convulsions are reminiscent of eastern (US) coral snake defensive movements, though the latter species does this while locomoting. I don't know why but somehow that motor pattern says something is not right here-- stay away. I wonder whether that is the instinctive response of these species' potential predators.
Thank you very much! Yes, coral snakes in Latin America don't obey any rules :) The colors and behavior certainly say - stay away!
Thank you for your comment! Was a very informative read. Can I ask what locomoting means? I assume it’s to do with travel?
@@evan6901 Yes, "locomotion" refers to travel by an animal.
Please make a vedio on snakes of Pakistan
That would be so good!
I’d love to see something like that as well. I know Russels vipers are around there but does anyone happen to know if saw scales are found there too? I love those echis!
We are filming in India, at least closeby :)
We found Saw-scaled vipers in India :)
👏👏👏
Thanks for watching!
I thought coral snakes had black noses and scarlet kingsnake were red, besides the color pattern is also from the scarlet
Coral snakes have various patterns in Latin America, you need to be careful if you don’t know them well.
💕💕💕❤️❤️
Thank you!
So nice not to have voice overs. Love your videos!
😊 thank you
Red touch black--watch out?
In Latin America, you should be careful with any snake having colorful bands. The rule does not work and there are coral snakes with many different color schemes.
great footage ,,,,adds are so annoying
Thank you for watching! Sorry for the ads, thanks to them we can do this work and during the last 5 months we can barely survive from this revenue.
Well honestly I do not like snakes. I am scared of them.
Thank you for watching! We hope that our videos will help you to overcome the fear of snakes! :)
