PSO will forever have a special place in my heart. I highly recommend doing the Guild Quests as well. They're extremely well written. There's some that trigger special events and tie ins to other quests if done in a particular order.
I spent so much time playing this game. My GameCube memory cards were corrupted a thousand times over. As kids we just started over like it was nothing.
someone is doing a fully playable version of PSO on VRChat, looking great so far, they basically adapting the whole game but with a VR UI and modified controlers to be playable with motion controllers. So far only the first map and 1 weapon of each kind is available tho but its looking quite nice.
Oh, cool! :D A couple things worth mentioning: in melee range, you can hold back on the control stick just before an enemy attacks to step out of the way. You can walk up to an enemy and do it at the last second, or you can do it right after finishing a combo where you make them recoil. It's not an intended action, just kind of a 'fake' dodge you can do to avoid damage. The other thing is that, unlike me (a HuCast), a HuCaseal has higher Accuracy, and can perform better with weapons that have long combos or multiple targets, like daggers and double sabers, slicers and partizans. :)
When you create a party on blue burst there is an option for "one person mode" where it's balanced for solo play and story quests become available at the quest counter. Also in a normal multiplayer party you can accept "government quests" from a counter in the principals office in ep1 and ep4 or from a counter in the lab in ep2. government quests are multiplayer story quests and they are also the only quests that let people join your party while the quest is already in session. Many quests in pso also have secrets and some have branching subplots that continue in other quests and some hidden subplots actually lead to different plot outcomes and rewards. In some cases items or equipment that you carry might even change something in a quest.
I'll have to drop by on next stream to see you play more of this. I have never played phantasy star online and wanted to try it out for myself at one point
PSO is so peaakkk man I had so much fun playing this on split screen growing up. The OST too is unmatched, gives me chills each time I hear the songs. It's definitely dated looking back at it now, but the atmosphere of this game is so unique and well made, especially for its time. It really gives futuristic sci-fi vibes to the fullest extent. The progression was fun. This game was a pioneer in the online rpg gaming space. NGS is so far from the vision this game had, it's disappointing how much the series has regressed. So much potential. Hope you enjoy PSO1 as much as I did when I was younger :D
It is really sad how far the IP regressed. They had something going with new tech styles and movement in universe/portable, but cranked it up to eleven in the sequels killing the spirit of the game, they also made rare weapons not rare and killed trading. Dont even get me started on artificial monetization of basic game mechanics like mags or skill resets.
Fun to watch. A bit late now but I think you would've enjoyed it more if you picked HUmar or HUnewearl. Having techniques gives you a lot more variety in what you can do.
@@lornelorne5727 it was a while ago since I played PSU on stream. Unfortunately never saved the vod. I didn’t get too far, only like lvl 30 or 40. So maybe can revisit it after I’m done messing around with PSO
Great video! I started with PSO1 on Dreamcast just because I wanted to play the Sonic Adventure 2 demo disc that came packed in! Its a great game and in so many ways more robust and superior to NGS. No time wasting elements like enhancement failure, affixing augments, etc. Units can be moved off Armor and onto new Armor, etc. Its such a better game. More like Diablo which was the inspiration. And nothing like what the franchise slowly morphed into. I hope Sega surprises us with a new game next anniversary because NGS is clearly near the end of its life going by the latest road map.
PSO is alright. For it's time it was great. I already fell off by the time Blue Burst came out. Pretty sure this intro is for Episode 4 specifically and didn't happen till after episode 1 & 2. There was also a blue burst at the start of Episode 1 though.
compared to modern games the movements maybe clunky but this game had a soul to it, unfortunately i found NGS to be shallow and a costume party for afk with a terrible cast of characters and story that made me cringe.(despite the better graphics)

Total nostalgia, bro this is where I started 😀
This game is super legendary, glad to see you had fun with it.
The music is still amazing.
@@ACLMSC Peak video game music for me. It's so good that Sega keeps reusing it 😆

For me my first ever was the PSU demo on the 360 and forever became a fan!
Light-Heavy-Heavy is the least missing combo.

Timeless game. Still loggin every now and then.
Pro Tip: Bind camera center to TAB unless you're on a controller
💪🏾 been playing for 24 years

The true super game
You can damage trap the slimes in caves at their spawn point and they die in 1 hit.
Is your PSU playthrough watchable somewhere? I searched on your UA-cam and Twitch channels but couldn't find anything. :(

Once I get a new monitor I'll be playing PSO and PSU on PC.
Fwiw, this game is a more intuitive experience with a controller vs a mouse and keyboard when you're first starting out.
\o/
The graphics bug has never happened for me.
They’ll never come back to this
CritQ showing us what a real SEGA super game looks like.

Haha!! More story than NGS already. The commentary is hilarious. Always lead with a weak attack then go into heavy attacks. Lol

Is this PC client? Where to download i wanna play this ver again! I'm getting bored in psp ver.
im guessing he's playing on ephinea private server

PSO1 is not PSO2 loot style... it's FFA...
Some private servers added pso2 loot style into pso1.

How tf is this game better than NGS?
PSO:BB > Base PSO2 > Diablo 4 > NGS
actually true
Technically "dead" game have more players than alive one... yes NGS, I'm talking about you.
and PSU too xD
Clementine already feed us better food than NGS
You wont last a week in Classic PSO.
Imagine that he ends up lasting a decade in it.
