Something I noticed about that one main town shown off: There is a circle that seems to have all the Types represented, and that makes me think of a possible theory. Does that circle mean that each Type will have a Gym, or Gym equal, and if that is the case, will you be able to do the Gyms in about any order, and how many badges will you need to challenge the Elite 4/Champion?
Man just think about it is hype enough.
I think all 18 gyms would be a bit too much, unless the world is big enough so you don't feel cram from gym to gym. But challenge gym is any order is sick. Each gym has 8 teams and choose the team base on how many badge you got. That idea is in people heads for so long and I hope that it can finally come true here.
Or you know, insane idea: how about 9 gyms for each game, the same way SS have 2 unique gyms. That's would be so doped.

I was also really excited we went back to colors for the titles, Scarlet and Violet are really cool names.
And the Grass Cat’s name is Sprigatito, which is probably the single most fun Pokémon name to say, ever.
Pokemon Scarlet & Violet are, in my opinion, simply a €60 paid DLC that doesn't take over any progress from Legends Arceus and is only worth €25.

They explained a way long time ago details talking about the game. It was talked about even before Tou Hou Lostword was made available on the Google Play Store. The company was planning to launch the game eventually to get more income from the people playing the app. They even admitted it. They just want the extra money to partially cover some of their other costs, even though they have the money perfectly to do so. The three starters are based the three most underused pokemon in Gen 5: Zorua, Dramuka, and Ducklett. They knew that even back then, they would still be the most underused pokemon of the Generation to this day in favor for stronger pokemon; it also partly due the fact that they literally practically give away Dramuka's evolved form inside of the game, without a Mastery Gift, as well. They also wanted to make sure that the games had a long solo adventure as well, knowing that a lot of players do not want to/like to/are unable to connect online; I believe. They were just unsure on exactly where to go in that specific direction at the time. I think of among other things maybe that they already gave permission to share over social media.
I believe that few of the fan designs might be even worse. I saw some for what the Gen 9 pomemon starters might look like. They looked so different than what these pokemon look like. They did however help them out creatique their own drawing and made them even better. The fire starter I am pretty certain was completely remade from the ground up after seeing that particular fan made drawing of the fire starter. It looks very similar to it as well. The water starter they already basically finished, and were probably really hoping for fan designs of the starters to give them further suggestions on how to improve it besides their own critiques. Thank the artists back then for all of their efforts. Perhaps what they finally came out with as a company was what they were wanting all along, but were unable to do themselves; so they figured out they could help out by giving them more pointers. The one that the fire starter is based on probably stored inside of the game files to be used if needed for any reason. It looked official enough, the nose was just too long; that much I can recall about it. Maybe for the game remake(?). The graphic did look appropriate for it. Maybe they found the designs already to use as a base perhaps? There was a lot of fan art that was made, I believe. Probably part of the schedule of the companies helping them out is to find them and to critique them.
The new Pokémon region is inspired by Spain?! Oh, boy! As a Spaniard myself, I can tell you I'm excited.
I see references to the walled city of Ávila, the windmills from Castilla la Mancha (the famous ones from "Don Quixote"), the architecture from Southern Spain in general and Seville in particular, and of course, the Sagrada Familia from Barcelona.
Heck, I wonder if the grass cat starter will turn into some sort of Iberian Lynx in the final evolution! Or the water duck will turn into some sort of peregrine falcon? Good times!

Just started playing Arceus this weekend and it kind of broke me on playing the older games. I was playing Omega Ruby and now I have no desire to finish it after the gameplay for Arceus. Having a pokemon remember all its move and switching them out when you want, catching pokemon, and being able to craft your own items is a breath of fresh air. I know That Scarlet & Violet is open world but I seriously hope they continue with what Arceus brings to the table. Also voice acting, come on. I can read but it would be nice to have it included, this isn't a portable hand held any more.

@@samgardner4667 Do you mind elaborating a bit more, I'm honestly curious. I don't really see it the same as Pokemon Go because you have to use your finger to swipe the screen to throw the ball where Arceus you choose the ball and press A to throw it just like the original games. Also the original mechanic from the previous games is still there if you choose to only do that. The only difference is that you don't need to necessarily whittle down their HP or even need to enter into battle. You have options. To me it just speeds things up which is what I really like about it. There is also something really satisfying about smacking a Pokemon in the back of the head.

What got me extremely hyped for this was seeing Magnemite and Seviper since Magnemite is hella reflective and Seviper you could see the individual scales and it’s not even the final product. Also, the environments look extremely good and I can’t freaking wait.

The pop-in and shimmering are a tad distracting. You can't see the pop-in in this video because it's edited but you can see the shimmering in first scene of the castle which looks pretty ugly

All three has their names confirmed. There’s Sprigatito, the Grass Cat Pokémon; Fuecoco, the Fire Croc Pokémon; and Quaxly, the Duckling Pokémon.
The duck is definitely my favourite. Love the Aqua blue on it. Such an appealing colour scheme

I was literally thinking the same thing!! I'm so glad they are doing a modern day Legends Arceus style game
They definitely gave enough information in advance that if you found it already, you would know which starter to pick. I believe that they even reccomended which starter pokemon for people to pick btp match certain play styles already. You should know by now that the starter pokemon heavily influences how you play the game. Legend Arcues further clarifies that point even further with them suggesting certain pathlines that made certain that anybody can find if they look hard enough.
Despite the fact that it's cool to have gen 9 revealed already, I'm more worried than excited for it. Gamefreak needs to slow down with the Pokemon game releases and give it time to focus on quality over quantity or else they'll be going down the same path as Call of Duty or Ubisoft. You don't want to take those as role models for your business.
I mean, they were already on that path as evidenced by Sword and Shield.
Same feeling at first but when I realized the last main entry Poke game was 3 years ago, I quite understand. I just hope teams at Game Freak are not spread too thin nor overworked.
@@cloudlockheart93 I think an issue as well as that we just had BDSP launch with PLA a few months later and while BDSP was a whole different company and it now seems like PLA was likely a side team I think it's just becoming a bit of Pokemon overload. I was thinking we'd be seeing updates and dlc to PLA throughout 2022 with Gen 9 in late 2023 at the earliest since while PLA sets up a lot of good ideas it still leaves a lot to be desired and could have massively benefited from another year of development. I have no problem waiting longer for the best possible Pokemon installment on the switch.
@@johnbuscher I'd argue they started down that path all the way from Sun and Moon but they could jump off at anytime and we'd all be better off from a Pokemon game left in the oven for a bit longer. They could easily support PLA with new content and give us Scarlet and Violet in 2023 and I wouldn't be complaining.

I was so faked out by the detective, it really felt like it was going to be a Detective Pikachu reveal! But then as it kept going and you see the detective is in fact at the Gamefreak offices it almost felt like it was an announcement for a behind the scenes documentary around the origins of the series. Boy was I pleasantly surprised
Maybe the game is fully finished by the Pokémon Company already. It has been at least few years since the initial reveal of the announcement that they were going to be making the game. It might be in a rough draft state like Herozion Zero Dawn was when the company initially finished it for the Playstation 4 only ready for official release but held back waiting for further improvements to the game overall, and the need to include more functionality into the game as well.
Nintendo has a reason for everything that they do for presentations, nothing they show was made by mistake or an accident.

Ah bro this looked exactly like legends Arceus engine. They definitely went the Arceus direction for Gen 9
So in the description of the gen 9 game it says the town merge seemlessly to the wild. So it is going to be at least a mostly open world game. It’s also based off Spain which you could have guessed. It seems to be either mirrored or just changed a bit in a way from actual Spain. And the starter names are Sprigatito, Fuecoco and Quaxly. Also I noticed that there are sort of poke center mini stops located around. (They kinda look like bus stops) also proving that this game is fully open world. There’s also a confirmed at least 5 towns from the map pictures I have gathered. It runs on the legends arceus engine and not sword and shields like some think. I don’t believe there will be a national dex but I belive it will have almost double the amount arceus had. I’m guessing once this is released this will be the main battle/trade game. I belive pokemarts might be mixed into the poke centers again. I really hope we can catch and battle Pokémon just as we can in arceus.

I feel like the Pokemon games are FINALLY going in the direction, myself and and many others, have been waiting for. Pokemon games haven’t interested me for years, but with Arceus, I’m actually excited for the future of the game franchise.

Arceus is the game I have waited my whole life for with the story actually being good. It's up there with gen 5 story. There I said it I want more Arceus style type of artstyle and games
That is exactly what Nintendo was preparing the game for from the very beginning of them designing it. They already knew that it would be a majority of the people's first time playing a pokemon game, although they are missing out on more than they are realizing. Chances are that the people who have items are not going to be selling them online. Few of the items are more revealing abou how the company actually operates, and Nintendo probably does not anybody besides the direct company, possibly including themselves, selling those online. Nintendo has online accounts set up for selling items if they wish to, I think. They probably still are selling the original pokemon battle discs that they made in 1990's. It is their own product by the way. I want to say more about, and I am perfectly aware of it as well; but I will not based on the factors that I already listed above. One item though, might just be sitting there in a warehouse not being listed all of the time.

CoffeeGremlin I kinda hope they scale back the manoeuvrability a bit and just make it feel tighter, the way you can zoom about the map in legends arceus and manipulate the mechanics to reach places with wyrdeer kinda brought me out of the game a bit and made the map feel a lot smaller and like I was playing a beta build

It’s insane that this year already looks like one of the best, but the real kicker is that we still don’t know a TON about middle and end of year stuff. It’s so nice to feel like the old days again where every now and then a major studio drops something absolutely nobody was thinking was coming with so much detail! Usually we know everything coming out way in advance, being genuinely surprised is great. Also gen 1 and 2 are the same for me. All over starter Pokémon I just pick fire usually because I don’t care about the others. First 2 gens I genuinely loved. All 3 too.
I would love to see Pokemon Legends continue as a separate line from the main games, but I also want the main games to take pages out of PLA's playbook as it has been the best thing to happen to Pokemon since Pokemon Yellow let you walk around with Pikachu.
If they continue doing Legends, there's a lot out there to play with. If they want to do Johto, I for one would like it to be Pokemon Legends: Celebi, with a Link to the Past/Ocarina of Time/Oracle of Ages style gameplay where you are not only exploring ancient Johto (likely around the time of the construction/destruction of the towers), but also traveling through time to a modern Johto, going back and forth to make changes, solve mysteries, and of course to catch unusual Pokemon.
Some of the other regions would be a bit harder to come up with good gimmicks for, like even just starting with Kanto, what would their mascot be? Pokemon Legends: Mew? Mew is great, but how would you center the game's story around Mew? I suppose we could visit a more recent history and go back to the creation of Mewtwo, but that wouldn't be centuries ago, it would be a couple of decades now, not too long before the original games took place.
And for gen 3, what? I'd almost say Pokemon Legends: Deoxys, where you're on a different planet? Pokemon in space could be pretty cool, although it would really weird and hard to explain.
I guess gen 5 works well enough, going back to the era where Kyurem hadn't broken into the different legendaries, so Pokemon Legends: Kyurem.
Gen 6 is easy enough, Pokemon Legends: Hoopa, those rings can do all sorts of things, if I'm not mistaken that included a degree of time travel and certainly space travel, though the only story I could think to revisit would be the war that X and Y referenced repeatedly.
Gen 7 would almost have to be Pokemon Legends: Necrozma, but I would rather see this focus on the Ultra Beasts, Ultra Wormholes, and the connections between Pokemon and these distortions (seriously, Ultra Beasts are treated like aliens in the game, but are ultimately just Legendary Pokemon of the same caliber as the bird trio or dog trio, so what's their connection to the Pokemon world, and can we even really count them as Pokemon without knowing that connection?).
Gen 8 would be similar to gen 6, because it would seem like the only relevant event to explore in the past is Eternatus and the initial "darkest day" event, so Pokemon Legends: Eternatus?
Feel free to drop any alternatives you can think of in the comments, or better storylines, timeframes, etc.

As an observation, it seems to me that they've used the same models, engine, and tools to make Sword and Shield, Legends, and now this, but adding more graphical polish and animation as they make each game.

PLA uses a completely different engine from SWSH. SV uses the same engine as PLA but is more open world.
I wonder when we'll get starters that are not the typical fire/grass/water type triangle 😅

I've always chosen fire type myself but for ONCE since 2nd Gen I'm actually torn between the grass type and the fire. Gotta wait until we have more info on evolutions and all I suppose, but just on looks alone, Sprig is calling to me, too.
The cat was my favorite as well, but still going for my cute fire.
And am glad gen 9 is similar to legends but in the traditional pokemon style. And legends might be the in-between games now.

If we're going back to Sword and Shield with this one, I'm skipping it. We need expansion on the Arceus idea, not stepping backwards again. I really do hope it turns out to be more like Arceus.
I get the feeling they're combining mainline with Arceus. It's the next logical step and after Arceus, I think people are practically salivating over the idea. So psyched for this.
My guess is that they might keep certain mechanics, like the catching and maybe the styles, plus its already confirmed to be fully open world
But they might also remove certain ones, like crafting (since its modern day) and the trainer taking damage

I agree. I wanted more of the Arceus style of game play but with a new world. I love the rifts, I loved the way we could sneak up on them to fight and throw balls, and I really liked the campsites throughout the map. I feel like they gave us the world and went back to lazy ways on everything else like the way of fighting and training. I was hoping they were moving forward with RPG after Arceus

It seems like an improvement on sword and shield compared to being of the same calibre. The reflections on the Magnemite, the scales on the Seviper, the shadows on the Psyducks and Swablu's, the trees, a lot of graphical improvements and it's great to see the games head in this direction
It seems a lot of the graphics are at least inspired by legends of arceus, since that game had far more improved graphics. But what excited me is the MAIN PLAYER. The graphics for the main player are so much nicer, and DIFFERENT to sword shield OR legends of arceus. I think it’s incredibly exciting!!

From the pictures on the website for pokemon scarlet and violet it looks like it will be legends arceus gameplay style because they have a picture of what looks too be a battle in the open world
I think they are going to have a legends line of games and the classic line of games. Hoping for a legends mewtwo or something soon. Also I love that there were frame rate drops in the trailer for scarlet and violet 😂.
Polemon legends kyurem is probably the most likely to be next. Unova has a very rich legend lore and you can explore as the hero of ages. None of the other gens have a deep enough or interesting region to delve into.
Ash also talked about eventually visiting the land where Zorua and Zoroark came from at the end of one the movie pokemon movies, so it might make perfect sense.

I like how in the trailer, there’s two lights giving off the colors Scarlett and Violet
It’s Spain/Iberian peninsula themed. The map in the trailer looks like it. The windmill give off huge don Quijote vibes, the starter names (Tito is a common diminutive ending in Spanish, fuecoco has “fuego” - fire in it and “coco” short for “cocodrilo”), and finally the pokeball castle in the trailer looks like the “sagrada familia” in Barcelona.
For the first time I'm having a hard time trying to figure out which starter I want. I love each of their designs.
I just want a true firetype Typhlosion!! Hated the stoned fire-ghost hisuian Form. But I guess I'll stick to my beloved fire type either way once this gets aired

Literally such an amazing year! Scarlet will be my 5th pokemon game for switch and I have zero regrets. I love this franchise.

The colored circle in the town square is surrounded by points of Red/orange, Yellow, and Green/blue (teal). Also notice that the Pokemon Center is located outside of the city gates when it first starts the footage of the game. This suggests that maybe we'll see wild areas similar to Sword/Shield, but with the new style of Arceus in the mix maybe...??? Super excited!! Can't wait to see more!!
Frame rate looks terrible but so did the first trailer of Legends Arceus. I'm anxious to see the development of this game in a couple of months! I really hope they increase the quality all around the board. I wasn't interested much in PLA because it looked barren but I'm excited about this one
hopefully with towns and trainers it will be a lot less empty! i also skipped on PLA and i feel less bad about it cuz i can just look forward to this one

I was highly convinced we weren't getting gen 9. At the start of the trailer I was like "oh, detective pikachu 2. Not for me, but cool." Then we saw some game footage and I was like "oh, PLA dlc!" Then we got the gen 9 reveal. I'll keep my expectations in check for now. SWSH were letdowns and I'm honestly shocked they're releasing gen 9 THIS YEAR
it was a hype reveal but i’m only cautiously optimistic. the game looks rough graphically, and idk if the gameplay will be good. i hope they carry over features from Legends like seamless battles.

Maybe Nintendo might eventually release the Detrctive Pikachu for the Nintendo Switch, but are unsure on it because of the intended age range for the game. They are probably right now trying to modify it so that it is appealing to everyone, but the kid approved version might be already fully finished. I believe that I saw the plans that they ended up using at least up to what they planned up to already prior to even making the Pokémon Presents. They honestly probably just made the presentation very quickly before having the launch it. It was probably finished for at least few days prior to even launching it.

Really excited for Scarlet and Violet. And your right Wood, they could split things and do the mainline and a Legends series, it would give people more variety and choice. Just one thing though, the 'franchise' may be the number 1 best selling franchise in the world, but the Pokemon rights are actually split 33% between Game Freak, Nintendo and Creatures inc, and Creatures inc specifically hold the merchandise rights. The franchise makes a lot of money but it gets split 3 ways. Plus, the merch is actually what makes the most money.
I love your content, I love the difference in opinion, but it does make me facepalm everytime the best selling franchise thing gets said.
That all said, gotta agree about the Grass Cat, its freaking adorable man
Nintendo is doing everything that can not to overwork themselves. They make sure to jot down any future idea, and also any idea that might be possible in the future as well. I believe that they explained themselves as to why they do not necessarily plan on going on that route for the game design. More specifically it is for the health of their employees and themselves. They do not to make a game, and not be around for the game to launch into success or something along all of these thoughts combined. You try talking about an ides way before anyone knew you even talking about it, and then try splitting up the work between two completely different teams of people. Both teams would likely get overworked kinda fast with not being able to help the other one out with their specific problems that they are currently having at the moment.
I personally need to see more of gen 9 before I get any hype, also a long shot but would be great if the arceus region anime was a little more adult and the next legends game followed and became a little harder and less kid friendly. If the games split into two different series like they seem to be heading now we truly need an "adult" more serious/difficult pokemon series. I'm having a blast with legends after outright skipping sword/shield just wish it was a little more difficult then it would be nearly perfect just with lack luster graphics lol
The Legend Arceus game was purposely designed with the mind set of slowing taking your time, and enjoying the slow painful route to gathering money through careful planning and selling of items. Even of there is trainer fights in it, it still uses the pokemon that are already leveled up from the exploration and fighting of the other pokemon.
Try Temtem if you want more mature version of Pokemon. They did everything that Pokemon refused too.

Personally i was actually really disappointed in this Pokémon Presents and I don't think having Gen 9 coming this soon is a good idea at all. That and to be honest i wanted to hear more news about other Pokémon games I know the details were revealed beforehand but I still wanted for example to see Mystery Dungeon Explorers remake announced to be in production. Plus gen 9 starters look on par with 8s and I didn't like them either so RIP.

Wasn’t Arceus delayed? I’m thinking they were planning that for last Christmas, as well as it not being a mainline game, it isn’t going to be seen as a competition any more than the moba is competition with the mainline games.
Scarlet and Violet are definitely using the Arceus engine. You can tell because of how the game renders the windmills and how the animations slow down further on in the background. Look very carefully at 7:08. That's the Arceus engine. The renderer is also very similar to Arceus.

1st of all what is the name of the new Pokémon region?
2nd are we going to get new types of Pokémon?
3rd what will the legendary box game Pokémon look like and what will be their types be?
4th what kind of Pokémon will be mainly introduced like animals, machines, aliens from space, fossils, nurse joys new assistant, officer Jenny’s assistant, fairytale/story book creatures, Science experiments gone Rogue or even item/objects or plants?
5th what kind of gyms are they going to set up or is it like Alola’s trials?
6th what are the mythical Pokémon in this region going to look like as well as other legendary‘s and the third regional legendary and it’s typing?
7th Will the box legendary Pokémon of generation nine be able to independently fuse with a third legendary Pokémon of the region since this happens to be an odd number generation?
8th what will the types be for the three starters or will it be like both Johto and Galar with Single types?
9th what will be the name of the professor of this new region and name of the bad guy team?
10th Will Eevee get a new type evolution whether it’s a already existing type(s) that they did not use yet or will it get a brand new Pokémon type(s)?
11th what will be the new battle phenomenon?
12th what kind of New Pokémon moves will we eventually get and what old Pokémon moves will become obsolete?
13th and who will be the champion and Will it be like Galar or Are we actually going to get an elite four or both A set of trials each time you want to try battling the elite 4, then battling the elite 4 then champion?
14th Will there be more regional variance and Will we be getting another Meowth regional variance? Because you did it twice Nintendo so us UA-camrs and amateur weeb theorists have to basically breakdown the chances of third times the charm of Meowth that is lol I did a pun lol!
15th what will the new Pikachu look-a-like Pokémon be as far as rodents go and new typeing along with electric type? because you can’t have a new generation without a Pikachu look-a-like electric Pokémon!

17th will gen 9 complete the awaited world record for at least 1000 Pokémon species this does not include regional variants or ancient forms but does include lost ancient evolutions that evolve into new Pokémon like the events of legends Arceus or regional variants that evolve into new species?
18th Will they make a Pokémon whether it’s one of the box legendary or 3rd important legendary or a mythical Pokémon that represents some kind of spirit of the fountain of youth because of if this region is based off of Spain remember they had Spanish explorers/conquistadors looking for the fountain of youth I could totally see a Pokémon that rejuvenate people and Pokémon or something unique to the extent of those powers probably for a short time maybe?

Unpopular opinion: I was hoping they didn't release gen 9 this year, that would mean the game is mostly done right now and I don't think we'll see the improvements from legends if that's the case. Maybe they'll surprise me but I honestly can't say my hopes are high for the main series. Like I think Legends is 5x better than SwSh and this could very easily be a SwSh clone.
I'd also prefer to wait an extra year if it meant they could make the game look better... The bar is really low for Pokemon fans, I guess, but the graphics look like something most people would be disappointed with if it were a Switch launch title 5+ years ago.
I've enjoyed Arceus so far, with my main qualms being with the graphics... and somehow this game looks _worse._
They already planned on releasing this year way in advance, so do not be surprised if they don't change their minds about it. The graphics should be very good on the final product of the game, based on what they talking about at least 5 years ago. I believe they even said that Next Nexus talked about how their game would look, function, and operate better than they ever could explain it as well. All that I could find related to that topic was that Next Nexus agreed to partner with the other company to make Tou Hou Lostword, and they did to.
