The Las Vegas Strip is a stretch of Las Vegas Boulevard in Clark County, Nevada. The Strip, as it is known, is about 4.2 mi (6.8 km) long, and is immediately south of the Las Vegas city limits in the unincorporated towns of Paradise and Winchester, but is often referred to simply as "Las Vegas". it is governed by the Clark County Commission, not by the City of Las Vegas.

The only thing the corporations that own the hotels *need* to do is generate revenue. That's their sole mission. Given how wildly popular, crowded, and successful Vegas has been post-pandemic, they have no incentive to offer more buffets, reduce show prices, eliminate parking and resort fees, or make the town any more budget-friendly than it is right now.
Southpoint Casino, few miles south of the strip has everything. Comp is excellent. There are movie theaters, bowling alley, arcades and one of the few places that still has buffet
Parents honeymooned there, much enjoyed until mom's stroke (went back for Star Trek Con; absolutely broiling). Criminal they demolished Tropicana sculpture (Eye just alien-craft creepy!). I expect in next century like most Southwest megacities will develop mass indoor walkways for beyond human tolerable temperatures.
They should have used the Rio for the A's new ball park and build a parking garage for locals to park as well as in&out lines for Uber & Lyft and one for cabs
Agreed. Not to mention having the stadium face EAST to the Strip skyline instead of west where the sun sets. Whoever thought it would be a great idea to have it face west with that hot summer sun and on the east side of the strip where there is no direct exit/entrance to the I-15 is an idiot!
In 1976 friends and I in their mid twenties moved to Las Vegas. Everyone said how dumb and childish we were. Now they say THEY wished had done it too once visiting it for first time. Never bother listening to other people.
My parents were honeymooning in late 1991, just months before I was born in May 1992. Long thereafter, we went to Las Vegas for the first time in 2004 when the Olympic summer games were ongoing in Athens, Greece. We stayed at Excalibur hotel and casino and we were just having a little bit of fun for three nights. Then, ten years later, we came back, but this time in a different hotel before we went to Circus Circus. Las Vegas is a city known for star-studded entertainment, and it feels like Hollywood. As always, what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.

Las Vegas was one of those places I wanted to visit. And I did. It was fun. But I’d never return. It’s not my kind of place. I wonder if people are aware that if you stay in one of the big hotels, your every movement is monitored - the management knows when you come & go, how much time & money you spend at the casino, which restaurants you’re dining at.
Oh for sure, I have a coworker who did gaming audit in a casino and it is crazy how much they can know about you. You gamble there and they can know everything a background check can find and even social security number
I went with my cousin - like a boys only getaway from our wives/kids! He’s a big gambler, and they actually asked him why I turned in early at night, didn’t gamble, and woke up early to sightsee. It was really creepy. I wondered if they had cameras in the bathroom.
Casino surveillance has facial recognition so they can pretty much track everyone. I like it because I work there.
