This was so much fun!! Thank you 😊
Fun, impressionistic painting!
thanks!
I agree about practicing because I a always set on perfection and it doesn’t come right away
☺️
Thank you so much, that was fun and easy. Needed this today.
I love the idea of just playing ... I'm still planting so much in my gardens that all I want to do when I sit down is play with paints and brushes. Thank you!
Me too !
Sounds great!
I love your hydrangeas! The colors! I will try it for sure!
Have fun!
Lovely! And I definitely get the “abstract” feeling…spot on❤️
Yes! Thank you!
Excellent! I've never worked much with my flat brushes. We definitely need to play with all the things.
Definitely!!
Love your gorgeous plump hydrangeas. I really enjoyed following along and painting with you. Thank you for your videos and demonstrating new techniques.
thank you!
I always love your style of painting. Loved the hydrangeas!
Thank you so much 😀
Lovely loose composition….especially like hydrangeas
thanks!
This looks like fun, and you are so right about practicing with your brushes. I definitely want to try this!
I really enjoyed painting along with you! I find myself struggling with being over critical when it comes to making things realistic, being able to paint loose keeps me motivated to pick up my brushes and keep trying.
I get so stressed out when I paint, I want it to be perfect!!!! But you put everything into perspective for me-“ just have fun with it!”-I need to keep reminding myself of that AND I need to practice, practice, PRACTICE!!!!!!!!
Thanks. I struggle to do beautiful flowers painting. Thanks for the tip. I want to try it again!
have fun!
Absolutely love! I’m trying this tomorrow ❤
Hope you like it!
Love this! Gorgeous looks like it will be fun to paint. Thanks Ellen 😊❤
I love this fast painting. I typically don't take the time for high detail 😅
Thank you! Cheers!
Ellen, you're amazing! Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us.❤
Thank you so much!
Play! I need to remember that one word! Thanks Ellen
yes!
Merci pource partage 😊
Your paintings and instruction are wonderful and I appreciate you so much! Thank you!
so glad!
FANTASTIC technique, so easy and effective!!
Thank you! Cheers!
@@ellencrimitrent I seldom use my flat brushes and this is great-I'll be doing more all weekend-thank YOU!
@@CastleMc Right? This is a great exercise for learning to manipulate a flat brush. Especially the leaves. ❤
Well that certainly was fun to watch…I love it!🤗❤️
Your channel is my channel of choice; I so enjoy your style.❤
thank you!!!
ethereal not urethral lol. Think Ether ( I've done it myself lol). LOVE your channel
Yes! Thank you!
Would you use a small flat on top of the wet 3/4 flat for different size?
you could try it!
Hi Ellen thank you for showing us how it’s done lv Ann ❤️❤️🇬🇧🇬🇧
Another video that's perfect for me. Sometimes all the different parts of watercolor are overwhelming... so I worked up a curriculum where I'm just doing one bit at a time. 😂❤ Up until now I pretty much use one brush, the one I started with... it must be time to expand my horizons.
have fun!!
Impressive!! Thanks for sharing!!
Thanks for watching!
Beautiful, love hydrangea especially blue ones like in the Azores where I come from! ❤ Great technique. Thanks Ellen.
Thanks so much!
So pretty, I am going to try this over the weekend, thanks Ellen 😊
have fun!
Lovely, im going to try this painting oleander 💚
yes!! that is poison from what I learned in Portugal- lol I had to wash my hands!
@@ellencrimitrent it's true. Very beautiful but poisonous...stories about shipwrecked sailors using the wood as spits for their souvlaki 🍢 abound .
But I painted it 😁 with your technique (then went in with a different brush to add detail) and I like the result...and I survived 😀.
Have a lovely day...thanks for tutorial 💛
I love this one and gave it a go....it turned out pretty well too! Thanks Ellen you are amazing!!
😍
So glad!
Wonderful! I've been wanting to break out of the comfort zone of my favorite brush, and here you are showing us how to use a flat brush to make hydrangeas! I had a crack at it immediately, and the results were so encouraging, everybody be getting hydrangea birthday cards now! Thank you, thank you for such a great lesson. 🥰
You are so welcome!
Love how quick and easy these came together. Very beautiful and soft and airy. I agree with what you say about just play and experiment. Thx for sharing.
Thanks so much! 😊
What a fun tutorial! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for stressing the importance of practicing! This is a great lesson and I’ve painted this with you multiple times! It’s awesome to feel successful. ❤❤❤
Thank you for this demo. Big Surprise, my leaves got rather ok. I could not sell my painting 😊 but I had fun and I am pleased with it.
I seem to have made my comment disappear somehow! Where do you hold your Cape Cod workshop? I lived in Brewster for 35 years! I have admired your style for quite awhile on Instagram. Just found you here!
Beautiful regardless of what words we use to describe the look or technique I think hey? Thanks! I hope one day I can paint something as beautiful!
Could you used this technique on a 5X7 card using a smaller flat brush? I love the results.
Thank you I really appreciate you. 🥰
You are so welcome
👏 I really enjoyed watching ang listening to you. Greetings.
You are favorite to watch! You make it feel accessible and provide encouragement to try. I have this video on Playback speed of .25 trying to watch your motions so I can practice the twist strokes. May I please make a suggestion? Is there a way for you to angle your camera so your hand isn't blocking the motion and technique? Maybe from the side? Thanks for all your videos!😊
thanks I will try to do this-:)
Love this ...thanks for sharing! 😍
Thanks for watching!
I love it. Your paintings aren’t yours without your twigs!
May i just say that the thumbnail is what really got me on this video. I watch ALL your videos. Some of them over and over again. Just something about the latest thumbnail shouted "oh snap! New content!" and i stopped what i was doing to watch. Also, I try to be a responsible content consumer, so when I press play on a Creator's video, especially if it's the first playthrough, I watch it all the way through. I'm now on my second time watching the video for the day and I intend to paint along with it when I watch it one more time. Hope that helps?
thanks!!
Ellen you are an amazing teacher! When are your work shops on the cape please?
cape cod is sold out- it was posted last yr on my patreon first then public 24 hrs later sorry. I might be having a Boston 2 day workshop in Oct- so stay tuned.
@@ellencrimitrent great!
Such a great reminder to just paint, practice, play and not worry about the outcome. I only get to paint occasionally, and spend too much time trying to get details just right.
Also, I know you have been asking about people getting videos. I saw your request yesterday for people to comment on whether they receive videos. I received this one today, on Saturday.
Absolutely!
So pretty! I always learn something when I watch your tutorials. When I try this technique, I think of it as rolling the brush more than twisting - rolling it between my fingers rather than twisting from the wrist, a combination of both movements though for more interesting results.
Wonderful!
❤❤❤❤Thank you! Such a good tutorial!
Love it! Makes me want to play with my flat brushes which I never use. Thank you for the inspiration ❤
You should!
Love this twist and turn! You're right about the practice part, I try to play everyday if possible. 😊 Beautiful 😍
yay!
This is great, thank you. I love the style!
Love it and will try it. THanks
I love watching you paint abstracts. Awesome tutorial.
Thank you! Cheers!
Great technique love this video!
Love it
thanks!
Wonderful technique ❤❤
Thank you Ellen. I love watching you paint ❤
I'm so glad!
Ellen, you are so encouraging. I learn so much from you!
so glad!
This is beautiful! Will be trying to twist the flat brush! I’ll be practicing this-I love the look! Thank you!
Ellen, you are such a wonderful teacher!! This brush stroke looks so fun! Sometimes you’ve added ink to your watercolor and this technique lends itself to adding ink. I love the way Ohn Mar Win adds ink, and her watercolor often starts like this brush technique you’re showing.
Lovely Thank You
Thanks a million Ellen….love how you teach xo
So glad!
This is the first time anyone has said practice with your brushes that I've every heard. I totally understand what your saying and hopefully it translates to my hand...lol
Thank you
Beautiful!
Thank you! Cheers!
I loved this video!
I love loose watercolor. this is lovely and fun. I'm a fast painter by nature.
This is soo pretty!
Thank you 🙏🏻
Very nice ellen😮
Love it. I never use a flat brush. Interesting. Definitely worth a try
Thank you for the inspiration. My brushes are calling me.
Excellent 🎉
Gorgeous!
When I look at your painting, I see Hydrangea, which means it is impressionistic rather than abstract.
thanks :)
Yes!!
😮 there's always a critic.lol. Call it what you will. This is something I can't wait to try. Really lovely.
@@pattywhite8644 There is always "that one" that feels it's their job to butt in on everyone's comments.
Lovely painting. Can't wait to try this.
How lovely to see your face as you talk to us😃( you'er not just a voice on the breeze)👌🎨🎨
Pretty!
thank you!
Wow, Ellen. Lovely! Gotta try this.
merci !
Thanks for this method. All I have heard from 2 teachers is criticism saying flowers are wrong, paintings are not finished, etc.
Seriously? Would they tell that to Picasso? Who are these ppl ?
Oh my gosh...love it, love it, love it!
Gorgeous ! As always!!🪻
Love this technique ❤
Love this, Ellen!!
