Of COURSE Mojo likes seeing you get screwed.. it's JOB SECURTY for him.. (not that he's concerned about losing his place at your shop) but still.. I love seeing Mojo get to business in the background doing the real technical time consuming precision work.. What a great guy!! I hope that when I'm his age I'll have a QUARTER of the knowledge and wisdom he does.. Legend.

when i was 21 my grandfather wanted to junk his car. His car was used for shopping and church only for well of a decade. i had to beg him to let me have it. the ball joints were gone. the car was a 61 Pontiac Ventura. bubble top and with only 1700 miles almost exact. to the car you have. I'm 72 now and it was one of my fondest car memories.

For future reference. There's a trick I do and will pass along to my fellow compadres. You can do for dry, wavy and extremely warped door panels that won't sit flat and stay flat. Just use Windex or water in a spray bottle. Spray the backside of panel lightly enough to absorb into panel. Then install while moist. As the liquid dries, it will flatten dry back into proper form

I did that (an Old Body Works Guy showed me how to do it) on my first car years ago. A 1957 Chevy 2 door 210. Someone had removed the front ones and threw them into the trunk that leaked water. It worked great.

When I was 10ish I asked an older gentleman that I called grandpa why he locks his glove box when he leaves the car then unlocks it when he gets back in. He said so I can go into the gas station and liquor store and leave you in the car. He then unlocked it and pulled out a .357 snub nose. He lived in a rough part of MPLS most of his life.

Best episode in months! Your narration was top shelf. "Don't slam the front seat backs! and Don't push both of 'em fwd at the same time!" Such was life for a 7 yr old and his little brother in the back seat of a brand new '55 Bel Air 2HT. Rules were RULES. Especially like your dissection of underdash levers and switches -- real old school engineering that no one appreciated 60 years ago. Thank you!!

The time and $ restoring any car is what makes the barn /shed / Garage finds of a near mint example worth big money. As time passes, the finds become more rare, and the effort to restore goes way up. There's the truth about the real value of classics. In the end, it is only worth what someone is willing to pay for them. Cheers Mr. Mortske

I enjoyed the column swap/rebuild. GM definitely made some parts swapping a true nightmare. I would love to see part 3 cause this thing is just awesome. My old friend Craig Hendrickson from Nevada was a true Pontiac enthusiast and he did build racing engines in the 70s. Too bad he is in the grave, he would have been able to give you useful tips. The Mortske history lesson reminded me of my of him.

A nice built for the Poncho power level 200R4 for that car would be the ticket. You get the better first gear(2.74:1) and the .67:1 overdrive gear. IIRC that has a 3.23:1 rear gear? If so, with the torque of that Pontiac engine should be good enough to shift into overdrive at 45 mph. Usually a 3.42:1 rear gear is teamed up with the 200R4 so it can go into overdrive at 45, the 3.23:1 should be close enough. Since it's a manual there are overdrive options for those too.
Can't wait to see you do the body work snd paint for this car.😎👍

Had that crud last month. My joints are still hurting 30 days later. Especially any where I’ve had previous injury. Like getting sick gave me severe arthritis .
And thanks for supporting the Shriners , a worthy organization .. I actually live across the street from the first Shriners children’s hospital in state of La. And maybe the first period .. but I’m not sure about that. It’s also because of them my wife isn’t a lifelong paraplegic .. when she was a kid just like Forest Gump , they gave her new legs , and straightened her right out ..

Took me till Wednesday to finish this one, not complaining. I really like how you “finish” these cars. If it was all restored and shiny, A person would not be able to take his dog down to the river or swing by the tavern for a cold one and a game of pool. The lines on these 60’s cars…I mean, like rolling art. I love the windshield pillars, that curve.

This is a truly wicked car: a Pontiac, a 1962 model, a Catalina 2-door and you are bringing it up being mechanically sound and roadworthy. You are spot on correct to let the next owner take it to the next level. No, it's NOT a Super Duty. But it is an excellent find worthy of your skills. Your next skill is making sure it goes to a good home. Thanks for sharing.

I do understand the trim pain. It sure makes old girl look sharp. Silver with the tri- blue interior is a👍. Can’t wait for the next one on the Pontiac.

Mentioned before that a 62 Catalina was my first car. I took my drivers test in it. Mine was painted Burgandy with a white top. I also had a Brittaney named Sport back then who, like Duff loved to ride whenever the car door opened. Thanks a lot Mortske for bringing back some good memories. I'm watching this one whenever you post about it. Take care man, and thanks again.

I agree with the silver paint job idea. That would look really good. That blue interior would absolutely look killer then.

You're killin me Mortske....HAHA. All this beautiful Catalina content has me messing with my 62 Convertible and making parts lists that I'm surely not gonna be able to afford. I'm sure my kids will be fine without college!! Lol. Love this car and keep those Catalina videos coming!

Some of the cars made in the 60's had really cool looking interior and Pontiac seemed to have some of the best.
About 20 years ago my Dad inherited his uncles 64 2-door Catalina. He ordered the car new.
The exterior was kind of a silverish green color, and it had green interior too. Similar to your blue seats, it had
three different colors of green. I love the look... His uncle had the dealer put the really thick clear seat covers on it
before he picked it up. I swear those things were 1/4 inch thick. It still had the matching factory floormats too.
The car had been garaged since day one. It had never been wrecked and still had 100% original paint.
The only flaw the car had was a really small ding on the driver side quarter panel...
It didn't run like yours though LOL... The 400 in your car sounds sweet and runs hard when you give it all the beans.
I was really surprised to see how good it ran in the video. I really like this car...

I hadn’t heard Nunzi passed away, in in CT and he has always been well respected by us Pontiac guys here, I love the 63 tempest he built. On the 283 they do make aluminum double hump heads, ya gotta watch the large valve heads with the 283’s 3.875 bore, the larger valves are just going to be shrouded against the cylinder wall anyways. Good video, takes a couple of days to watch these full feature length videos but I enjoy them

Good afternoon from Cape Cod 🦈 all the little nitpicking things is what takes time. The Pontiac certainly does look a whole lot better with the attention you gave it. I would have liked to go for a ride, thanks NAPA Todd 😂 the 283 sounds good. Keep up the great work and the awesome content 👍✌️🇺🇲
