Tip 1: 1:28 (handlettering) Tip 2: 3:27 (eye dropper tool) Tip 3: 4:18 (dragging colors) Tip 4: 5:40 (straight lines) Tip 5: 6:47 (merging layers) Tip 6: 7:40 (2 finger undo) Tip 7: 8:33 (alpha lock tool) Tip 8: 9:48 (3 finger copy & paste) Tip 9: 10:25 (automatic selection) Tip 10: 11:26 (time lapse replay) Have fun with digital art!
@@ricecrispy3191 It technically can, but it would take a really long time for it to wear down the tip of an Apple Pencil, it seems to be much more durable than the pen nibs that come with Wacom and most other drawing tablets. Paperlike screen protectors work really well and don't seem to wear too roughly on the pen tip.
that tip about the streamline has been so helpful thank you so much! I had been watching videos of people drawing on procreate and their drawing were so neat! I thought my hand was just shaky and couldn't draw on my iPad because my drawings were so wobbly and messy! thanks so much for these tips!!
I had a problem using streamline. After using it I though my Ipad was stuck in liquify mode. I had a lot of difficulty erasing. I ended up reinstalling Procreate only to find out I did not backup my stuff. The problem persisted until I reduced the Streamline and the problem went away. Lesson learned. Backup your work.
THANK YOU! I have been struggling with Procreate, mostly since I just use it on the side for fun, occasionally. This video taught me more in 13 minutes than I ever learned before!
I downloaded procreate like half an hour ago and I was so overwhelmed with where to start, and this video just blew my mind 🤯 this is an insanely helpful jumping off point, thank you so much!!!
Good tips, on the edge of being too fast to follow, bit exactly right for my taste (as a beginner). Thx so much for them, I'd love to see more of theses tutorials / tips video by you, please!
Another tip with the colour picker tool, if you hold your finger down on the colour you want on the canvas it’ll colour pick it for you and then you can also move it around while your still holding it down and get a different colour, it probably does it with the pencil too but I always find it ends up making a pencil mark on the page first.
Have you ever tried the color fill & it wouldn’t allow you and said “previous color” ... if so how do you fix that? I’m trying to sketch a photo and even got like shapes & etc it’s doing it
Michelle Wilson Im using Paperlike, i love its texture and grip when drawing, and it actually reduces friction of wrist movement on the screen. Only downside is that it adds a bit of a sparkling effect on the display. Colours and brightness are not affected much. Glare and finger smudges are a lot less noticeable too.
Thank you so much for showing these drawing tips, I found them very helpful. :) I’m just beginning to learn how to draw with Apple Pencil on procreate app. These tips are priceless.
This is so useful! I just obtained a degree in graphic design but decided the field isn’t for me but I still love to draw and utilize it in my new studies in nursing. I just got an iPad in December and been struggling with Procreate in terms of work flow
Great video! So helpful, I didn’t know about so many of your tips so will definitely come in handy😅 Would love a video on your illustrated portraits too😄
Great video! I admit it's maybe "too beginnerey" for me lol, but the tips here are excellent for anyone just starting out. And when I first got Procreate, even these little things were mind blowing to learn about. Procreate is such an awesome program and just keeps getting better with each update!
thanks! this video really helped! i might get a new iPad for Christmas, and when i get it i would also love to get the apple pencil and draw on my ipad! I'm not really familiar with this app, so i do need to get to know the app! edit: your drawings are really good btw!
Thank you for the tips! It really helped because I just got procreate. And first I didn’t know what to do on there , but then I searched up tips for procreate . Then I saw your video and watched through it all and after I knew a bunch of things about it! I love this video and thank you because it really helped
Hi Alice!! I love your work! I was curious what storage you have for your iPad Pro? I’m planning to get one specifically for using for procreate and I’m battling myself on how much storage I need. Since you use yours professionally I figured you would be a great person to ask how quickly you go through the storage space with your commissions.
Hello my friend hope you are well and having a great week so far. Just found you today and really pleased we have your video is awesome. Really helpful indeed, thanks so much for sharing your knowledge and expertise with us really appreciate it. Keep up the great work my friend, stay safe and take care my friend catch up soon God bless you 🙏❤️👍
I'm loving these freelance Friday videos! Really want to try Procreate! I always use illustrator/photoshop so it would be fun to learn how to use another app as well :) xx
Procreate is awesome! Definitely read the official documentation from Procreate itself if you haven't already. They have really simple breakdowns of all the shortcuts and tips like these and show you exactly how to do everything. I used it for over a year before discovering that you can customize your pen and touch settings, it's a real game changer.
UA-cam read my mind. I came to here looking for a procreate tutorial and you were right in my suggested videos! This was a big help with the shortcuts and will save me so much time! Thanks so much 🖤
Thanks for making this :) I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing this... I have the 12.9 with 2nd gen pencil. And currently no screen protector. And at times my pencil feels like I’m going over like a grain of sand, like it snags. It’s not 100% smooth. I thought maybe it’s because I’m writing directly on glass. And no matter how light handed I am I’m having this issue. It’s more of an annoyance and I’m worried because it feels like my tip is being ground and worn down. Do you have a screen protector on? I’ve researched so many and I love my clarity but I’m not big on the feeling of writing on glass. Is there one you’d recommend? Thanks so much :)
I don’t know if you have figured it out yet or not, but to pick up a color in a photo you don’t need to click in between the two buttons and use your pen. Just take one finger and hold it on the color and it will pick up. Not your pen but you finger. So much quicker than how you are doing it.
Tip 1: 1:28 (handlettering)
Tip 2: 3:27 (eye dropper tool)
Tip 3: 4:18 (dragging colors)
Tip 4: 5:40 (straight lines)
Tip 5: 6:47 (merging layers)
Tip 6: 7:40 (2 finger undo)
Tip 7: 8:33 (alpha lock tool)
Tip 8: 9:48 (3 finger copy & paste)
Tip 9: 10:25 (automatic selection)
Tip 10: 11:26 (time lapse replay)
Have fun with digital art!
I have an air pad 3 and the straight line part isn’t working for me !!! Any suggestions??? Please help🙏🏽
Try getting a “paper like” screen protector it makes it easier to write with the Apple Pencil it feels like actual paper 💙
I wanted to get that type of screen protector for a while now but wouldn’t it wear out the pencil?
Crescent Moon707 I think yes over time but you can get replacement tips on amazon as well.

Thanks so much! The Alpha lock tipmwas a huge help for me! I look forward to watching more of your videos.🌻
Its way easier just to hold down to get a color
I downloaded procreate like half an hour ago and I was so overwhelmed with where to start, and this video just blew my mind 🤯 this is an insanely helpful jumping off point, thank you so much!!!
Me too! Now that you've worked in it awhile, isn't it funny how something so amazingly simple can be so complex?!?!🌻
TYSM FOR TALKING ABOUT THE ALPHA LOCK THING! IVE BEEN LOOKING FOR AN EXPLANATION OF THAT FOR EVERRRRRR!
Good tips, on the edge of being too fast to follow, bit exactly right for my taste (as a beginner). Thx so much for them, I'd love to see more of theses tutorials / tips video by you, please!
ez1.global don’t forget you can change the playback speed if it’s too fast!❤️

Amazing tip! I do this with my pencil all the time and it works great

Two finger tap is undo, three finger tap is redo :)
That depends on what you set them to be.
Hold 3 fingers down and wiggle to clear layer
HOLY- THANK YOU🥺🥺🥺🥺
Ponyony wow, that’s actually helpful..
thank you, like, a lot
That streamline tip is a total game changer for me thanks!
This is so useful - along with your whole freelance series 💕 thank you for sharing your talents!
So glad you’re finding it useful!
Love this! I’ve been struggling with procreate because I lack the time to set and learn on my own. Thank you so much for the tutorials.
New Subscriber...Love this video and your channel. Thumbs way up! Learning to draw in my 50's. Day two, lol! Thank you again.
I’m new to using the iPad and Procreate. Curious how many people like using a (matte) screen protector? Pros/cons? Thanks
Michelle Wilson I absolutely hate it but my friend has one lmao
Without the screen protector the pencil will make smoother but glide more over the screen
Matte Screen protector destroys color and retina display
I honestly love my matte protector! Feels a lot more like paper and my hand doesn’t smudge the screen
Finally I found a video o that helped me to understand Procreate a bit better thank you so much.
Really simple and helpful video for beginners. Thanks Alice x

One problem i have is when I fill something, it leaves a while outline and it’s annoying lol
Do color drop instead of recolor, also i reccomend bardot brush's intro to procreate.
Luna The Piggo I do color drop and it makes a white outline.
How do you put in the Bardot brushes?
Phoebe Ray that’s a yter
「melodies」 yeah it so annoying so I have to go over it and I might wreck the shape! I thought this was just me!
brilliant. thank you. 🙌♥️
Something cool before Adobe launches that FULL version of Photoshop for iPad/tablet
A matte screen protector has also helped me
Which matte screen protector did you use
This really helped thanks
Great, still a bit quick, I’d like a video on how to draw over an imported photo and save the layers and merge then send to photos, 🙏
That Was great. But I am new and don’t know how to get brushes, layers etc I’ll work with my pencil and try to find tools. Thanks very much.
Great Video, hope you continue to do more !
leiza you need to update the "flood" scale beneith to about 20-50 to make that white outline go
