- How to replace the broken handle on your Fisher and Paykel dish Drawer. The original handle on the Phase 6 and 7 (DD60DCW6, DD60DCX6, DD60DCW7, DD60DCX7) dishdrawers sometimes break or crack. F&P brought out an upgraded handle kit so it doesn't happen again. These are step by step instructions to fit the new kit.
Please make sure you are safe working with electricity (unplug from the wall before starting) and that you are working within all the regulations and Legal requirements.

I had already priced a new dishwasher. I found your video and ordered two replacement handles. One was broken off from lifting the bottom drawer and the top was cracked because of too much tension exactly how you showed. Handles cost $307.90 for the pair. Taxes and shipping included. The new dishwasher would have cost around $1700. before taxes delivery and installation. It took me 1 hour to change them both while cleaning off the doors of soap scum buildup.Thank you for the easy to follow instructions. There will be clean dishes in Chicago once again!

You make a comment about the hook in the rail (slide) at 9:00 but then the screen shows a correction. My dishdrawers do have the hook on the slide so make sure the slide is fully forward before fitting the pin. Otherwise a very straight forward repair so thanks for the video. This is one of the reasons I like F&P appliances.
Obviously my memory from an older model was coming through haha.

Thank you so much for this video! I have had the replacement part now for 6 years and never got it fixed because the repair people quoted me $300 to change this out. Given the part cost me $250, I was not going to spend $300 to install it. Thanks for saving me money!!

Excellent! This is the only reference I could find anywhere to the inherent weakness of the original designed handle. After about 10 years one of the tabs just snapped off on our top drawer. My challenge now is finding these kits in Ireland, which will certainly be trickier than the repair itself, but I know exactly what I'm looking for now. Many thanks.
You can buy some parts direct from FP UK website (Im assuming they will ship to Ireland). If you go to www.fisherpaykel.com/uk/ and type part number into the search box in top right: Stainless is 512487P for one or 512484P for kit of two, White is 512488P for one or 512485P for kit of two, Black is 512489P for one or 512486P for two.
Thanks again. I had looked at the FP Ireland site and didn't find any spare parts there. Not expecting much, I then tried calling the Irish customer support number and they gave me an email address which I contacted about getting the parts. I got a reply very quickly and an invoice link to purchase the items direct. €100 all inclusive for the two handle kit, which seems a bit steep for some plastic mouldings, but I'm very pleased they were even available at all.
@@AndrewRankin That converts to pretty similar prices to here. The parts aren't cheap for dishdrawer part unfortunately.
@@AndrewRankin better than the £200 for the twin kit over the water in the UK currently. Unless I'm looking in the wrong places :) - I should add, I'm not paying that, I'm breaking out the epoxy to nurse our 14 year old dishwasher along for a few more years.

In sequence of events (that isn’t perfectly sequential)- and I trust you can figure out who was me or my wife - a) you shouldn’t fix it while a bit tipsy b) I can c) you’re a fucking idiot, d) dan from motuekas interactions are perfect e) I did miss putting some of the parts back in f) that soothing kiwi voice is ideal g) dishwasher works h) yeah boi

Thank you for a very helpful and detailed video. I have the same model DD60DCX7 with an E4 error code which indicates the heater is faulty. Do you have any tips before I get a replacement part# 522090 and try to fit? Thanks.
Usually is the heater plate, main thing is actually after you have fitted the new heater plate make sure that the controller isn't faulty and sticking the heater on continuously. Pretty rare but I have seen it happen.
Tip is to use vaseline on the o-ring seal to get it to stay in place in the tub groove as you assemble.
And of course check earth continuity after as that plate has mains voltage and is in direct contact with the water should anything go wrong. A bit more then I would recommend for a non-technician but isn't difficult as such.
My top drawer is locked and I can't open even if I use unlock function.
do you mean key lock or physically lid is locking drawer closed? If the drawer wont open when powered off and back on then it could be something to do with the controller
