Finally, someone who has a decent weight setup and shows that these machines are plenty capable of removing snow like this.

I read that some people say this is a bad idea for a lawn tractor… I bought a new property and the owner left two lawn tractors and I don’t want to put a plow on my truck and don’t have the coin for a ATV and plow set up. These lawn tractors are rugged enough for some plowing?

@@F48384 ya I’d still need it for mowing grass in the spring/summer/fall I couldn’t risk damaging it

The G110 shown in this video is a garden tractor, a heavier-duty machine than a typical lawn or garden tractor. Its frame is more stout, and it uses a beefier rear end. The rear wheels on garden tractors are secured with multiple lug bolts, as opposed to the single one used on lighter-duty machines.
The G110 was equipped with a hydrostatic transmission, however. These are largely considered to be less rugged and durable than the manual transmissions more common in garden tractors and heavier machines.
I would have no issues hanging the mower deck back on it for the cutting season after plowing snow as long as it was still operating normally.

Thank you for the video, regarding plowing deep snow, with a garden tractor, I am going to try the same with a 1969 Cub Cadet 129.
I hope it does as well as yours.

Its not so much whether it can push snow, but how well. And how it holds up. Snowplowing is hard on a tractor, especially lawn tractors that don't have a real heavy frame or other components.

Put a couple of tractor weights on the back, it will help out tremendously.

Yeah....why didn't you get on its removal hours before it got that deep w/ snow? my grannie always said a stitch n time, saves time....and effort! lol I've actually removed that much snow using a simple shop broom, where I added an extra foot n half broom parts to ea side of it making for quick removal, but stayed on it throughout the night moving a few inches at a time, little effort and great memorable moments in doing it! I also have built my own plow for my yard tractor, and after pushing heavy driveway gravel easily to test its performance, assures me it should work even betten with snow removal! can't wait for that once n a lifetime hugh snowfall!!

You should get a SMV sign for that especially since you are using it as a tractor to do utility work or anything work Wise etc with a tractor that size because a tractor is a tractor no matter how big it is because under the farm machinery because even a tractor that size is considered farm machinery

Been there, done that, in Massachusetts. Snow blade is ~12" high. My rule of thumb is the plow can handle snow about 1/3 the height of the plow, so ~4" max. I have a 14 year old LA125, which from the comments may not have as good a transmission as the G110. My driveway is slightly up hill. Even worse is with global warming, the snow is more often heavy and wet instead of light and fluffy. 1" heavy and wet ~= 6" light and fluffy. Alberta might have more light and fluffy than I do. I bought a 2-stage Airens snow blower for the heavy and deep stuff.

I agree, this plow blade is not tall enough. I’ve been in the market for a plow garden tractor and thought,”maybe I should just buy the Home Depot blade for my 155c” . This just nailed it home for me, no thanks on that blade. It’s not tall enough and I don’t think these newer age 100series tractors are meant for NY snow. Wish I still had my 1976 212

I broke a transmission bracket, torque bracket and drive belt got chewed up by the transmission fan. It was a 100$ repair and took about 6 hours total with no brakes. Given I did make about 120$ cash from plowing 2 driveways with 30" snowfall. And I had a 2009 craftsman lawnmower. (all during one storm). So its safe to say after a couple years you'll need a new lawnmower!

I've tried pushing snow all winter with one of these small mowers. It works great at first, but they aren't built for it and it doesn't last. You'll notice the torque becoming weaker and weaker. That's the transmission burning up, which is not serviceable. I'd say you need a heavier built mower for pushing snow reliably year after year, or get a blower for it because that's not so hard on the drivetrain.
